When staying at Puu Poa (Pu`u Po`a) you will discover the rare beauty and peaceful sanctuary of the North Shore on the Garden Island of Kauai. Puu Poa in Princeville, on a cliff overlooking an incredible vista of the Pacific Ocean, is where you can watch turtles and other sea life right from your lanai. Beautiful Hawaiian landscaping to complement its unparalleled views surrounds this contemporary condominium community. You will thoroughly enjoy watching dolphins, sailboats, cruise ships and surfers from the comfort of your vacation home. During the winter months some of the best whale watching is done from the Princeville and Kilauea areas. Viewing the majestic 4,000 foot-high Waialale Mountains with rainbows and waterfalls is magical on the mauka (mountain) side of the property.
Puu Poa is one of Princeville`s most luxurious condo resorts in terms of unique architecture, spacious floor plans and an ideal location with maximum comfort and privacy. These 56 condos are situated on the ocean bluff next door to the beautiful five-star St. Regis Hotel that offers several outstanding dining options at one of their restaurants or visit their world-class spa.
Puu Poa has its own tennis courts, oceanfront swimming pool and hot tub, and the spectacular Hideaway`s Beach is a short trail walk below, hidden away. Hideaway`s Beach is one of Kauai`s best summertime snorkeling spots.
Princeville is home to 45 holes of world-class golfing within minutes of Puu Poa and has miles of walking and biking paths. There is also easy access to Puu Poa Beach on Hanalei Bay, in front of the St. Regis Hotel. Horseback riding, zip lining and guided hikes are available at nearby Princeville Ranch and polo matches are held, in season, at Anini Beach.
Hike the world famous Na Pali Coast as well as many other fantastic trails on Kauai. Take a kayak out of Hanalei Bay to paddle with the dolphins and turtles or paddle board or kayak on the Hanalei River. Enjoy some of the very best snorkeling on the island at Ke`e Beach. Explore the dry and wet caves, Hanalei Beach Park, Limahuli Botanical Garden and the excellent snorkeling and swimming at Tunnels Beach. Spend the day at Hanalei Bay, a perfect spot for swimming, lying on the beach and taking in some sun, having a picnic and fishing off the pier! Enjoy the stunning views at Kilauea Lighthouse and Nature Preserve, a beacon for sea traffic since 1913. It`s within a national wildlife refuge where thousands of seabirds soar on the tradewinds and nest on the steep ocean cliffs. See endangered Nene geese, white- and red-tailed tropicbirds, and more.
Narrow Limahuli Valley, with its fluted mountain peaks and ancient stone taro terraces, creates an unparalleled setting for this botanical garden and nature preserve. Dedicated to protecting native plants and unusual varieties of taro, it represents the principles of conservation and stewardship held by its founder, Charles 'Chipper' Wichman. Limahuli`s primordial beauty and strong mana (spiritual power) eclipse the extensive botanical collection. It`s one of the most gorgeous spots on Kauai and the crown jewel of the National Tropical Botanical Garden, which Wichman now heads.

Views SpectacularGuest comment entered by manager
The views from Pu'u Poa 413 are spectacular. The unit is bright and open. The furnishings are beautiful, beds and couches very comfy except for the pull-out couch, which is extremely uncomfortable. Layering a couple blankets under the bottom sheet helped a little. The sliding screens leading to the patio are off their tracks and not easily fixed, and we didn't want to risk breaking them, so we left as is. Aside from that, the condition and cleanliness of the unit were excellent. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes etc. The one big disappointment was that the unit is not air conditioned, which we didn't realize until we got there. When we arrived, it was sweltering under all that glass. Leaving all windows open and many fans running made it livable, but not cool. I believe it was our mistake -- hearing that Pu'u Poa had A/C, we assumed that meant all units, but apparently it meant only some units. Customer service was great, responded quickly to problems such as a broken fan and non-functioning keys. It was really nice to have provisions such as shampoo, detergent, coffee, etc, provided, and the tote bag came in very handy! The climb down to Hideaways Beach is treacherous, but if you're in good shape, it's worth it! We loved the beach. We wouldn't rent here again, only because of the lack of A/C.

Magical!Guest comment entered by manager
My Husband and I stayed here for the last week of our honeymoon and it was absolutely just perfect! Words really can't describe the feelings. Next time we are staying here the whole trip! The kitchen had everything you needed for some amazing home cooked meals, the beach toys were wonderful, and the whole unit was spectacular! Loved being able to do laundry! The best part, of course, was the view!! How many wonderful nights we spent watching the waves and stars! Waking up to the beautiful Hawaiian sunshine and ocean! Morning coffee on the lanai. You really can't get much better! We will be back for sure!

This unit is top notch! You feel like a movie star when you stay here. No places in Hawaii have air conditioning but we really did not need it. Take caution if you go to the hidden beach there the hill is rather steep. The surrounding area is great also. The owner left chairs and coolers- very nice touch!

Beautiful Condo!Guest comment entered by manager
Our family loved this condo! Beautiful ocean views out of ample windows; nice furnishings - especially the fully equipped kitchen. Location was great... easy access to Hanalei Bay. Hideaways Beach, located right off the condo grounds is beautiful, but getting down to it is treacherous for children or older adults. It was nice to have a pool, but it was a little cold! We enjoyed watching for Whale/Dolphin spouts in the am from the deck. Arrangements were very easy through Great Vacation Retreats. We definitely look forward to staying here again.

Excellent view of the oceanGuest comment entered by manager
Excellent view of the ocean
This condo unit sits on a cliff overlooking a spectacular view of ocean. Because it is on a higher floor, we were able to sit on our lanai and watch the whales and turtles. The unit had plenty of room, adequate furniture and decorations (though not as nice as Pp105) and a well-equipped kitchen. We used the outdoor grill to cook fish that we purchased at a couple of local fish stores. There were plenty of ceiling and floor fans. This condo unit is close to everything that we needed/wanted, including grocery store, restaurants, great golf courses, and all the amenities that the north shore of Kauai affords. We worked with Lynn to find the unit. She was very responsive to all of my questions and was creative in finding us two different units within the same complex when we were not able to find one unit that could accommodate us for the length of time (a month) that we would be there. She also hooked us up with Lou, who rented us a car at a reasonable rate and provided much more personal service than a traditional rental company.

Pu'u Poa is Paradise, period.Guest comment entered by manager
Pu'u Poa is Paradise, period.
This was our fifth trip to Kauai and our first stay in the Princeville area. Pu'u Poa is a spectacular condo featuring breathtaking views, an expansive living area and outfitted with all the modern conveniences. Located just a short drive away from Hanalei, the Kilauea Lighthouse, North Shore Beaches and the Kalalua Trail, Pu'u Poa is ideally situated for exploring all the beauty of the north shore. Be sure to take a stroll along the Makai Golf Course just up the street from the condo; and, in the evening, catch the sunset on Hanalei Bay. Amy and her team from Great Vacation Retreats did their usual outstanding job and they exceeded our expectations in every respect! We had a fabulous time and can't wait to return.

About: Aloha~ Thank you for viewing my properties! My name is Amy Grant and I own a boutique vacation management company in Kauai called Great Vacation Retreats. I happily work and reside in Kauai and have been managing vacation rentals on the Garden Isle for almost 4 years. Been married to my husband, Scott, since 2003 and we have a beautiful little girl named Presley. When we aren't busy chasing her around, we enjoy going to the beach, cooking and traveling. I love working with my guests to find the perfect place for them to call home while on vacation. It can be overwhelming trying to pick out the right property -- I can help. My staff and I take great pride in the properties we manage and believe that we truly have some of the best properties the island has to offer. We have been in each property numerous times and stayed in most so that we can give you an accurate description of what each property's amenities are, distances to the beach, sightseeing, restaurants, etc. We can also help you with any activities you might be interested in while on island such as surfing lessons, private boat charters, guided hikes, stand up paddling, personal chef, childcare and much more! Mahalo for looking :)
Why Puu Poa:
My husband and I were married at Kee Beach on the North Shore and visited the island several times after. We used to manage vacation rentals in Lake Tahoe and many of the owners also owned property in Kauai and asked if we would be interested in starting a business here. After a couple of years, we finally made the move and have been blissfully happy ever since. The island has so much natural beauty and outdoor activities, yet it still doesn't have that 'big resort' feel. It is a great, safe place for children and also makes for a perfect honeymoon or anniversary destination.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
There are so many outdoor activities to enjoy here: going to the beach, surfing, stand up paddling, horseback riding, hiking, sightseeing, taking a boat charter along the Napali Coast, cayaking, camping, biking, etc.. I enjoy getting a spa treatment at the St. Regis Spa - if you enjoy the spa, the facial is perfect. My husband and I met at culinary school and consider ourselves 'foodies'. There are some wonderful farmers markets here and fish markets with the fresh local catches of the day. Ahi is of course an island favorite and can be found at many of the restaurants throughout the island. Whale watching is from December - March and is quite a site to see. Some of the best golf courses in the US are located in Kauai. We work with some activity providers that provide personalized hikes and activities that are 'off the beaten path' and truly show you what Kauai has to offer.
