We stayed here with 4 adults and 3 teenagers. The home is immaculate, nicely decorated and very accommodating. The hosts were eager to help and very nice, answering any of our questions (and we had a lot of them!) promptly. With all the room we had, we plan on making this an annual trip for a family get together. Thanks Ryan and Callie for a wonderful time.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I guess I read the property description incorrectly, because I assumed this house sat on a hill with steps down to a beach. Instead the walk to the beach is down a steep hill, across a busy highway to a very small private (for the subdivision owners) beach. The view was spectacular and the main floor of the house lovely. I, however, underestimated the importance of having a bathroom on the same floor as my bedroom. Tromping around in the dark down some stairs is not pleasant for this "old" person. All in all, the home is comfy and the outdoor patio very nice. The adjacent small house is very cute too and part of our family stayed there. They enjoyed it very much. Thank you for your hospitality!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

Regarding the beach, we personally appreciate being a couple of lots back off of North Shore Road which during the summer months is indeed busy. That way we have the privacy of our patio views and beach, dock, boat launch & picnic access at the same time which is often hard to find. Thank you again to your family for choosing our home!

This is our second year on Hood Canal, and we loved every minute of it! We opted for a family reunion this year (with six kids ranging in age from 2-11) and six adults. The two properties were perfect for our families. Tons of space in the two homes where the kids could spread out and the adults could relax. We loved cooking together in the spacious kitchen, and lounging to watch the Olympics in the great living area (when not at the beach, of course)! Loved the views of the water and the firepit on the patio to enjoy in the evenings. Having the beach right down the road was perfect so that our kiddos didn't have unrestricted access to the water. The beach itself is lovely, with a great picnic area and dock (we had to beg our kids to come up to the house - they would have stayed there all day fishing if they could have)! Water is the perfect temp for swimming and playing. This is just a perfect setting to relax with your family. We will definitely be returning - it was the highlight of our summer for two years in a row!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Everything you hear or see from other reviewers or the owner's website is better than imagined! The house is immaculate! It has everything you could need or want. It is very clean. It even has great style! We had 5 adults and 3 kids all three years old or younger staying with us and it was more than enough space. The playroom was perfect for the kiddos, as was the big grassy back yard, and the patio/driveway area which gave them lots of room to ride their bikes. The owner was absolutely amazing. Callie B., was very prompt at answering all of my emails (yes, there were many) and eager to help when one of my babies got sick and needed medical attention. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a secluded getaway. Five Stars!Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Rented the house for a girls weekend with old roommates from college and had a wonderful time! We all commented that this was by far the nicest house and set up that any of us have ever rented and we were all very impressed! It was December, so we stayed inside most of the time, but the view from the back deck and large picture windows still made us feel "on the water" even from the inside. The main floor of the house was lovely and beautifully decorated with plenty of room -- several of us joked that it was so nice that we didn't want to leave. Lots of room in the kitchen and plenty of supplies for all the meals we made. The upstairs is a bit older, but still comfortable and had lots of room. (The split between the upstairs and downstairs also would be great for families with kids because the kids could play/sleep upstairs while the adults had fun downstairs. Also nice that there were several tvs -- a boon for family gatherings).Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family and I hosted Thanksgiving here this year and it was huge success. Half the group is from Oregon and half from Washington so it was nice to have some "neutral territory" this year and break out of the rut we'd been falling in, doing the same thing over and over again. The house is incredibly well stocked - I can honestly say it has everything you'd need, from a fondue pot to a BBQ they have it, and its all really nice. The set-up of the house is also perfect if you're bringing along kids - which we did, they can have the whole upstairs area that is stocked with a TV and games and you can shut the door, pour yourself a glass of wine and let them play all day! Given the weather we were inside for most of the time, but we never felt in each others way or lacking for space. The beach is a short walk down the hill (very small beach area) but it was beautiful. We'd love to come back and have an oyster feed! I highly recommend this house for your next vacation!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We spent Labor Day weekend here in 2011. Everything about it was wonderful. The house is huge, clean, decorated super cute, very comfortable beds, upscale kitchen and electronics. The outdoor patio with firepit and tables has the most spectacular view... we spent hours just hanging out there with the kids. Loved fishing down on the neighborhood dock. We were blessed with perfect weather, sunny and 80ish the whole time. Couldn't have had a better time. The WiFi let us bring our laptops and search for hikes, restaurants, etc in the area. We had a wonderful time there. Our party has 8 adults & 4 kids, and there is plenty of room for everyone. The view & house is beautiful, and very peaceful from the living room & outside patio. The house is very clean and well equipped. The kids had great time playing the rec room. You don't need to bring anything except personnel items. It's first time for us in the area. We harvested lots of oysters and mussels in the state parks, also did swimming and boating the the community beach, and had wonderful time. Will definitely return again in the future.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing.

Claire Eccleshall(claireeccleshall@talktalk.net) on August 10, 2011 We had the most wonderful weekend break at the Bendicksons beautiful beach house.Tastefully decorated, luxurious yet homely and spacious, there was literally every thing you could need supplied at the house. The view from the patio was stunning and the stars at night were a sight to behold. I would whole heartedly recommend this fabulous house and Hood Canal is a beautiful part of the world. If you have children this is the place for you as there is a rec room far enough away from the grown up area to ensure peace and quiet! Also having access to the private beach was a real asset and our children were so happy on the very calm,safe and warm water.Thank you Callie for looking after us so well.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our youngest son was married on July 7th at Calvinwoods State Park, which provided a beautiful setting for a beautiful ceremony attended by family and friends from all over the country. As the groom's parents and brother's family, we needed a wonderful location to spend a week near Calvinwoods, and man did we find it - the Hood Canal Beach House! Everything we needed for 4 adults and 2 children was available to us for a great week. The house is very functional and supplies were available to help us enjoy our week. The view and deck area is absolutely awesome. The owner's Callie and Ryan were most gracious and allowed us to host the rehearsal dinner - attended by 25 family and friends, coming from as far away as Hawaii and South Carolina. Everyone loved the setting and the meal prepared on site was fabulous. The fact that my brother and family from Hawaii were able to stay in the guest house right next store made it even more special. Callie is a great host and responded immediately to all our needs, even adding a very nice picnic table so that we would have adequate seating for the dinner. The home and property has a very personal touch and makes everyone feel at home and comfortable. I could go on and on, but words can not describe our week in this lovely home. Thank you Callie and Ryan for the use of your very special home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I have rented several VRBO homes and this home was the best equipped we have ever stayed in. The home was comfortable and had everything we needed. Even though there were neighbors close by we felt we had complete privacy surrounded by the beautiful trees. Callie was very accomodating to our last minute needs and was a pleasure to work with.We rented the additional guest house for 2 nights and while we did not utilize all of it, it was also well equipped. My only complaint is that we could not stay longer. We will definitely put this on our list of homes to return to.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Everything on the description was accurate and precise, the pictures on the website says it all! The beach house was well maintained and immaculately clean. Close to the beach and you can view the water from all angle of the house. Kitchen was well equipped, comfortable bed and nice bathrooms. The owner was awesome! She accommodated our needs/requests and was very helpful with information we needed in the area. We are already planning on going back. We have a grand time at this place, the house decoration is so compliment with the view and location of the Hood canal. Everyone feels so happy and relax. We had a blast at the beach house and we never imagined it would be so fun. We did a salmon BBQ on Sunday, and enjoy with the "welcome" bottle of wine. We are certain that it was a time we will never forget.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing.

We rented the Bendickson beach home for a family getaway. There were 7 adults and 4 kids in our group. The home was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. Love the beach theme. The home had just about everything you need. Kitchen was stocked with all the supplies needed to prepare meals. Oysters and clams from the parks were delicious. We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit every night. The view was wonderful and the weather perfect! Callie was so accommodating and helpful. We had a wonderful time and hope to come back again next year! This vacation rental far exceeded our expectations. The property is beautifully maintained, clean, spacious and impeccably decorated. It easily accommodates 10 in the main house and 4 more in the guest house. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need to cook and serve large meals. The views are spectacular from all over the home as well as from the patio that has a great fire pit stocked with all the wood you can burn. We would recommend this property very highly and hope to return year after year. I've stayed in multiple properteys on the Hood Canal and you will not find a better property for this price. Period. The house is huge, the view incredible and the beach is a meer stone's throw. The house is newly remodeled and comes complete with HUGE flat screen and great sound system. We spent most of our time out by the fire pit, overlooking the canal listing to music on the outdoor speakers. Just an incredible place and I promise you will not find one that has these amenities for this price. We will stay here again.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This house is lovely, both the views and the home itself. We had 8 people spend 4 very comfortable days. The house is in great condition, newly remodeled, well appointed and very functional. The owners graciously supplied firewood and the kitchen had everything we could want for preparing fabulous meals. The home is across a road from the canal but sits up high and therefore the view is lovely. Although Belfair, Port Orchard and Bremerton leave alot to be desired, groceries, coffee, movies etc were close by. For quality shopping and meals out, the drive to Bainbridge Island is very worthwhile and within 45 minutes. What a view!! From the Eagles soaring high above, to the gentle hood canal waters below, this was a paradise! We absolutely loved our stay. The house was one of the cleanest and most comfortable vacation rentals we had ever been in. All the amenities, and did I mention view (again) were present. Thank you, Thank you!
