Lovely house!

My family of four, with two young kids, stayed for a week in August, and we loved it! The house is beautiful, with nice wood walls, and very comfortable. The decks outside the house, both on the 2nd and 3rd floors are also great. We were a little squeamish about swimming from the dock, but had lots of fun taking the canoe to the community beach, which is across the lake. We also rode our bikes to the beach. The community beach itself is wonderful, with a nice shallow swimming area for young kids, and deeper water with a raft for adults and older kids to swim out to. The water is very clean and fantastic for swimming. The people around the lake are very friendly, and we enjoyed talking to them. There's tons of activities in the Newbury area, with lots of state forests, hiking trails, Mount Sunapee, and Sunapee State Beach, which is also lovely. It rained a few days while were there, but we found some nice museums in New London. This house is a gem, and I would highly recommend it!

We just returned home from a week on Chalk Pond and already miss the serenity!! The home was PERFECT for our family and we loved the quiet pond and easy access to the sandy beach. The home is immaculate and very well appointed...nice furniture, excellent, functional kitchen and superb floor plan. Ceiling fans and open windows made even the warmest days easy to tolerate. Easy access to Newbury Harbour and New London made groceries and restaurants a breeze. We hiked, took the gondola up Mount Sunapee, visited our daughter at Dartmouth, fished daily from the dock and kayaked Chalk Pond until our shoulders ached! The little island was a big bonus for our children. Coinciding with the Annual League of NH Craftsmen Fair was a total bonus! A loon entertained us on the pond for hours on end. Marybeth could not have been more hospitable or accomodating and VERY accessible. A perfect New Hampshire getaway!

Quiet, clean little house on chalk pond

This home is very well maintained and the owner was a pleasure to work with. The house worked perfectly for my two active daughters (3 and 6 years old). There was just enough room for them to spread out their games on the rainy days. The kitchen is well stocked, the laundry is convenient and the bedrooms are cozy. The owner is even kind enough to have instant netflix streaming available. The house is on the water with a dock and canoe to toot around the pond and go over to the beach. Chalk Pond is a small little beach, and when it got a bit too crowded for my girls we went over to lake sunnapee beach and had a blast. The two decks off the back of the home are where I spent most of my time...grilling our dinners and watching the pond. I would recommend this home and this property owner to anyone looking for a quite little house on a quiet little pond. Perfect for a small family like mine.

We recently spent 5 days at the cottage for a family vacation. The cottage is immaculate. The owner is fantastic to deal with. She responded promptly to all our questions and mailed security deposit days after our stay. My son loved fishing off of the dock and the girls loved canoeing. The area is very quiet and peaceful. It was a bonus to have wifi. This is a great place if you are looking to kick back and relax. There isn't much to do in the surrounding area but the interstate gives you access to the more touristy places.
Owner response:Thank you, Roseanne, for being such a wonderful tenant!

We recently spent a week at the cottage and found it absolutely perfect in every regard. This home is beautifully appointed, perfectly maintained and extremely comfortable. Chalk Pond is a jewel and this home takes full advantage of the view from the windows, decks and dock. We found it to be the ideal location for making day trips to the White Mountains, Lake Sunapee, Lake Winnipeasukee and all the surrounding areas. At the end of each day, it was a joy to come back to the house to relax from the daily adventures. We highly recommend this property to anyone seeking a relaxing vacation in a beautiful location. The owner was extremely helpful and a delight to deal with.

We enjoyed our stay very much. My husband enjoyed fishing almost every night, I even went with him too and caught some fish also. There was plenty of things to do we went bike riding, played volley ball, played foozeball, and basketball. The kids enjoyed canoeing over to the platform and jumping and swimming in the lake. Walked to the beach and went swimming too. We've even got the chance to relax. The house was very clean and comfortable with 7 people. The owner was a pleasure to work with she was helpful and she is very friendly.

The weather was perfect all week, my son loved the floating dock and the beach, it was an easy canoe ride over or one minute by car, you could walk to the childrens playground, we took a hike to the summit right from the front door. Beautiful sunsets, great location.

The cottage at Chalk Pond was the perfect place for our New England expedition. The cottage served as our home base from which to visit several colleges for our two daughters. After full days of exploring it was a wonderful home away from home. We gathered around the table for long dinners to share our day. In the morning we awoke to the sounds of the pond beckoning us to take a canoe ride from our private dock. A perfect escape-- Andrea, Todd, Grandma Nancy, Katrina and Samantha
