Studio Condo Fort Walton Beach, FL on Intercoastal Waterway
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
As you drive into the parking area you immediately notice the landscaping. The property is well maintained with local flora and fauna. Our unit is at the end of the building so you can park directly outside the unit, pass by seating area under a weeping willow tree, take one flight of stairs and you are at our unit (you could take the elevator if you like).
When you open the door the first thing that grabs your attention is the view of the swimming pool and the marina outside the glass sliding door. When you walk onto the balcony you see the boats traveling up and down the intercoastal waterway. If someone is fishing on the dock you will probably be able to see his catch because you could toss a stone in the water from the balcony.
If you do not want to cook in the kitchen or take a nap on the new sofa you could use the grills that are located between the swimming pool and the docks. If you want to dine out stop at the Olive Garden restaurant located next door or stroll downtown to one of the other local restaurants and enjoy the catch of the day.
There is 325 square feet of living space which allows you to set up an office and use the high speed internet if needed. Place your cold drinks in the full size refrigerator and work on the balcony. But who wants to work when you can enjoy everything Fort Walton and Pirates’ Bay Marina has to offer. If you must work take your computer and sit on a lounge chair by the pool.

Condo was just as described, the pictures do not do this condo justice. Room was clean, and had everything we needed for our small family. This was much better than a 5 star hotel. Great view on the balcony of the water and beautiful pool. Getting to the beach was hassle free; we used the owner’s beach chairs and umbrella but spent most of time at the pool. I enjoyed my morning walks to the local shops for coffee. The boaters at the marina helped my son catch a fish! We will be back again. The owners were very nice and were very helpful.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Hi Barb, The weather was a little scary the first couple of days. The condo was nice and cozy. The view was nice and relaxed on the balcony. The pool was big and not crowded like other condos we stayed at. Thank you for providing a nice place to stay. I would also like to thank you for making it affordable for my daughter and I. Being a single mother it's become harder each year to find a nice and clean place to stay.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

JN thank you for the nice card. Barb and I are so glad you enjoyed your stay and made use of the beach chairs and umbrella. We're also glad you enjoyed the complimentary bottle of wine on your anniversary.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1

My fiance and I recently stayed here at this lovely condo in June 2011. We were in Fort Walton for a quick weekend trip and could not have been happier with our stay. The owner was so helpful and sweet. The people at the front desk were friendly and very helpful as well. The condo has a beautifully updated bathroom and it was very clean and nicely decorated. There was a beautiful view of the bay and pool from the balcony. We practically had the pool to ourselves both days we were there. The complex was well maintained and quiet. The location was perfect, so close to everything you need including the beach, restaurants and the Destin Bridge. We were very pleased with our stay and will come back again for sure!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: My wife and I grew up in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Every year we would take our three children on a family vacation near the water. A friend of ours was stationed at Eglin Air Force base in Fort Walton and he would always tell us about life on the intercoastal waterway and the small town “feel” of Fort Walton Beach. It took us twenty years to visit the area and when we did we fell in love with the people and the town.
Why the Owner Chose Pirates Bay:
Pittsburgh is a great place in the summer but the winters are long. We wanted to purchase a property on the water so we could spend the winter months boating, fishing and enjoying the water where the sun shines 343 days a year. We enjoy flying directly into Fort Walton Beach airport from Pittsburgh. There is so much to do in the Fort Walton Beach area near Okaloosa Island and we are just 2 hours from New Orleans and other large cities.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Pirates’ Bay Marina is an interesting place to meet boaters and sailors and enjoy their stories about their water experiences. A childhood friend of ours has a sail boat docked at the marina and we take overnight voyages whenever we visit. There is a yearly event, the Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival, when the marina is full and the story telling is abundant. We also enjoy the restaurants, zoo, science center and just strolling the sidewalks in the town. Although a small community when compared to fine arts locations in the United States, Fort Walton Beach offers metropolitan sized fine arts. The local area showcases many cultural opportunities including the Arts Center at Okaloosa-Walton College, First Arts, Northwest Florida Ballet, Northwest Florida Symphony, Stage Crafters Community Theatre, and much more. We enjoy our unit in particular because of the newly remodeled bathroom with granite counter tops and new cabinets. The full size refrigerator enables us to buy all the food at the beginning of the week to prepare our meals. Most of the times we slow cook a meal in the "crock pot" so it is ready to enjoy after a day of activities. By the way our guests have the use of our beach chairs, coolers, and beach umbrella so they do not have to pack these items for their vacation. All of these items are stored on the balcony in a storage seating bench which leaves plenty of inside storage for our personal items
