The East Lake Victorian Mansion was built in 1890 by the Spencer family. It is an elegant and spacious home that accommodates large families or groups and is comfortable for year round enjoyment.

It is located in Thompson PA on route 171 just 11 miles north of Elk Mountain. Thompson is a tranquil little town where you can hear the sound of church bells throughout the day.

The Spencer House has three well furnished parlors that make for comfortable socializing. Enjoy the privacy of two separate dining rooms or one large dining room simply by opening the massive folding doors that divide the dining room in half. When they are closed one room has eight massive wood doors that give the feeling of an English manor home. The other half of the dining room has an enormous built in server with a pass through to the kitchen. Together the two dining rooms create a hostess’ dream. The fully equipped kitchen was recently updated; it is a cook’s delight.

The Spencer house can comfortably sleep up to sixteen people. There are six bedrooms plus a finished attic with additional beds. Three full baths and two powder rooms ensure comfort for you and your guests. Large groups can truly enjoy the space and surroundings of this exquisite home. A sprawling front porch with hammocks and wicker furniture add to the delight of a summer night. Enjoy skiing and snowmobiling in the winter. Warm weather activities include antiquing, hiking, horseback riding, boating and fishing. And the best part is that all of these activities are within minutes of this elegant home.

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2003

My wife and I have been skiing in PA for 20 years. We started at Shawnee and Blue Mountain and advanced to Camel Back with an occasional run up to Hunter. We heard nice things about Elk Mountain, bigger, better and beautiful views. We made the hour north trip from the Poconos to the Endless Mountains and never went back!

Why the Owner Chose Thompson

We loved the area so much that we invested in a house there. Four years of restoration later we were able to stay in it and now we can offer it to those who want a great ski/mountain/summer vacation without spending all of their time traveling to the vacation. The Endless Mountains are just that, they seem to go on to the horizon. Some of the best views are on Ridge Road which is a short cut between Elk and Thompson. After a day on the slopes catch the sunset on Ridge Road (breathtaking) and home to a cozy and elegant home.

The Unique Benefits of this Victorian Home

We love to ski and snowmobile in the winter. There is a big parade and fireworks on the fourth of July. Blueberry picking just down the road with the berries as big as nickels. It is quiet and life stands still just steps away from the house. Take a hike on the trail or take one of the bikes out for a ride. Many golf courses await you, or would you rather ride a horse? There is enough to enjoy or take a book and swing on the hammock. This is what a vacation should be- relaxing! Did I mention we are smack dab in the middle of the lake region?
