The house exceeded our expectations. It was clean, comfortable and extremely well equipped. A helpful notebook listed expectations for checkout, directions on finding supplies, including first-aid and emergency information in the house as well as suggestions for nearby attractions. Cape Coral is within easy driving distance to Fort Myers and Sanibel Island although we spent entire days at the house relaxing and swimming in the pool. The lanai area and pool are wonderful and the sunsets are spectacular from there. The house backs up to a canal which makes for a pleasant view. The owners were very helpful and prompt in answering any questions. I have already recommended the house to family members and friends.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+.

We had a fantastic time in this home! This was our first experience of renting a home and we enjoyed it so much. With 6 adults we had plenty of room and after a day at the beach it was so relaxing to come back and enjoy the pool and the beautiful sunsets. Thank you Jim & Arlene for an awesome time.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+.

Wife and I stayed here Jan-Feb 2012. If you're stuck up north you need to get down here now. Why? So you can actually feel the weather instead of closing up your house for 5 months. Listen to the birds, the constant breezes and boats running up and down the canal. It was everything we hoped for. Normally, we stay on the other side of the river, but this year we wanted to try Cape Coral. We made the right choice. Great restaurants, great shopping (we love Bealls & took advantage of the super sales they have, but there are a several stores that the wife found that were only in Fort Meyers), great weather. Try all the restaurants and stay away from the chains (we had some great local food in small neighborhood places and everyone has coupons). You can visit the chains when you get back home. The house was terrific. Plenty of room. I do all the cooking and the kitchen had everything but Bobby Flay. Jan and Feb were a little warmer than normal. Hit the 80s a lot. Only needed the AC two days. Cable and Direct TV. After dinner, just sit out on the lanai and enjoy the peace and quiet and think about where you aren't. Florida living is open air and light coming in from everywhere. The greatest thing about the house however, is the part-owners, Jim and Arlene live right next door. Any questions, they were there to help us. You won't find nicer people. Explore Cape Coral. They have everything for adults and beaches and entertainment for kids. Go out to Matlacha and Pine Island. Take a boat cruise for a day. There's something for everyone in Florida. First rate hospitals and doctors for every know ailment. Nice big shower for 2. We don't waste water here. Mirrors all over the place. Plenty of closets. The Red Sox and Twins have spring training here in March. This is the fishing capital of the world. Charter a boat or you can fish right off the dock. The secret is using fresh shrimp or clams. Catfish, sand bream, mullet, blue crabs and anything else that swims in from the ocean. Ya gotta try Red's on Pine Island and Marker 92 at Tarpon Bay. Great food at each. Red's for the family, Marker 92 for "special" occasions. If you've never been to Florida, you need to be here. If you stay for a week, you'll stay for two weeks next time. If you stay for a month, it'll be two the next time. Relax, recreate, recharge and regroup. Cape Coral has it all. There's something for everyone. Come on down.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+.

July 3-17 2011 This was an amazing visit! Everything I hoped would be here and more. The house was perfect, everyone had their own room. The kids fell in love with the pool, never wanting to get out. I was so relaxed, and I hope we come again next year. We visited Sanibel beach and even had time to go to Miami. Thank You so much for an incredible visit, Sincerely G FamilyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had an amazing experience in Florida staying at the Sunset Resort House. We loved the pool and the dock and the surrounding wildlife- manatees, flying fish and geckos! The house was so clean and spacious and the guidebook was very helpful. We saw Sanibel Island, chartered a yacht, and enjoyed Fort Myers Beach. We absolutely loved coming back to our wonderful home, instead of a cramped hotel room, We would definitely stay here again- if given the chance. THANK-YOU Jim and Arlene for making our Florida vacation more memorable!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our family had an awesome stay at this house on spring break. Both kids (ages 12 and 15) had more than enough room to spread out. The pool was a hit - 88 degree water - and perfectly set up to while away the hours. The house was so comfortably furnished and had everything needed for a relaxing stay. Grocery stores and restaurants were nearby. Our favorite activities were exploring the coast beaches then coming back to enjoy the serene sunset on the screened patio. All of us have decided the vacation was the best one ever. We miss the house and pool already.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, age 55+, sightseeing.

A very special spacious vacation home. The amenities far surpassed the description. This is a lovely, clean and well maintained property. Photos can't do it justice. We loved being in the pool and watching the boats go by. A quiet neighborhood but easily accessible to all the area has to offer. The kitchen was especially well equipped and the decor lovely with plenty of comfortable furniture. The owner was friendly and very helpful. Sanibel and Naples close by. Many excellent restaurants close by- especially liked New York Pizza for a casual dinner. We would highly recommend this property and in fact plan to return next year. Great for a week or a season!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for your lovely comments! We are so glad to have had you as guests, and look forward to seeing you in Cape Coral again soon!

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Southeast:
We have visited Cape Coral as a couple many times since we first got engaged (many years ago) on Sanibel Island. Cape Coral is a friendly and relaxed town and the South East area is convenient to shopping and area beaches. At some point we hope to move to Florida as 'snow birds' escaping the cold Minnesota winters during retirement.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love the heated pool and lanai area so much that some days we never leave the house! The water views and sunsets are amazing. The sound of the wind rustling the palm leaves is perfect background noise while relaxing in one of the zero-gravity loungers in either the sun or shade.
It is a terrific place for family gatherings large and small with the open floorplan, large living room and lanai. Having king size beds in two bedrooms makes this house great for multiple families.
The home is located in a quiet neighborhood on intersecting canals, but is very close to main roads, shopping, access to Ft. Myers, etc.
