Welcome to Castlepark. Castlepark is uniquely positioned in Kinsale, the development itself has won many awards & was most recently referenced in Journal Of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (May 2007).
Our house is a very unique design, positioned in the middle of Castlepark village, spread over 3 floors & comprises of a large open plan Lounge/Dining/Kitchen room, 2 large bedrooms with 2 matching bathrooms. Unique features include vaulted ceilings with exposed timbers & plenty of natural light. Our house can accommodate your family with sleeping for up to 4 people and camp beds can also be provided for young children comfortably. We have just completed a full ‘makeover’ of the house and we know you will enjoy your stay here, relaxation, peaceful yet in the middle of everything.
On opening the door way, your are in a hallway with marble tiles and a storage closed off - first doorway leads into a very large bedroom with a double bed and ample room for camp beds, this room has some antique style french furniture and a built in in sink vanity unit. There is also a small den area off the bedroom with desk and chair if one wants to catch up on email etc.
The next level is an open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area, old style yet contemporary but above all relaxing and ready to enjoy. This area is spacious & bright, the beams are painted white in colour & rise 45° to double height. The new oak floor, exposed beams –the lanterns & couches even the wall mounted plasma screen TV/DVD they allow for a relaxing atmosphere. Also on this floor there is a full bathroom with shower. The kitchen area includes a Washer, Dryer, Dishwasher, Hob, Oven, Microwave, Fridge, Freezer & all general kitchen equipment. Also on this level is a large hot press for extra storage.
The second staircase rises upwards, cushioned with new woolen carpets, & as with all the house, freshly painted. The upper floor bedroom has exposed beams, natural and white in colour giving a nice contrast. This bedroom is a good size double, again with exposed natural beams, pine furniture & a large velux sky light window providing subtle brightness. There is an ensuite bathroom also with an with electric shower.
Plenty of board games & books are available when friends arrive. Outside the house there is a planted graveled courtyard and private secure parking accessed via a pass code on an electric barrier.
Our House, the ideal location: GPS(51°41’50N)(8°30’50W) (Note: We also have a 4 Bedroom house available as well (ref : VRBO 172467)
Our house is indeed a unique beachfront home, on a peninsula overlooking Kinsale itself, surrounded by heritage & the sea. We have direct access to a very safe, sandy beach, you stroll across the gravel courtyard & private lawns and step quietly onto the soft sand.
On the other side of the peninsula from the beach is a great yacht marina Castlepark Marina, with numerous yachts & boats available for charter, short term holiday moorings can also be arranged. Also on the doorstep is the famous traditional pub, The Dock for a quiet pint. Directly across the water is historic Charles Fort, behind the house is the equally famous James Fort, both guarding Kinsale harbour. Up behind the house is a very beautiful, heritage protected headland with very scenic walks, providing panoramic views of both the inner & outer harbour, our beach, Charles Fort, Kinsale town & the Bandon River.
Castlepark has it all yet you are still only minutes from the gourmet capitol itself-Kinsale. A real Gem to escape too!

This was our first trip to Ireland, but won't be the last due to the great time we had at this location in Kinsale. Plenty to do for the outdoors enthusiast right outside the door (also pub right there) and then the beautiful village of Kinsale within a short distance by car which has plenty of shops and restaurants for rainy days or evening activities. The cottage is well fitted with most everything you need and the owner gave a good description and advise of what extra to bring. He also was very helpful with suggestions on places to see, restaurants to eat, etc. The only thing we would have liked to have had is the availability to get wifi, other than that we would not hesitate to come back or recommend this location to anyone.

are you looking to rent a small house in ireland? this absolutely IS the place to go to: Kinsale is in the south of Ireland and absolutely beautiful. you are actually just opposite of Kinsale, so you are situated next to the Marina what gives you the fishing-village-feeling, and you are overlooking the beautiful port of Kinsale. very close you have a nice Pub "The Dock" where you can even sit outside and enjoy a pint in the evening sun. a one minute walk through the gardens brings you right to the beach. We had a beautiful vacation and we can highly recommend the place. the house itself is very cosy, we stayed there with our children. in the master bedroom when you are lying in bed you can enjoy looking at the stars in the sky, and when it rains - happens in Ireland... - the sound when you go to sleep is totally relaxing. there is a TV in the living room with a cosy sofa, really nice. we did a walk every morning where you do have a nice view across the sea of a ford, and on your walk you pass some ruins. you can't visit them but you can sneak in.... an absolute MUST with children. it was one of our highlights. I can highly recommend the house and thanks to Declan and his family for being so kind to us. and thanks to the girls for babysitting - we enjoyed our nights out in Kinsale without the little ones very much. all the best.

We arrived in Kinsale a bit weary after nine days of touring Ireland going from one B&B to another, and were pleasantly surprised by our new surroundings at Castlepark! This vacation home was spacious and immaculately clean with most of the comforts of home. The house is minutes from a lovely beach and easily accessible by car to the many shops and restaurants in Kinsale. Unfortunately the weather was cool and windy while we were there so we didn't attempt to walk over the bridge into town. We had great meals at Fishy Fishy, Jim Edwards Restaurant, and the Lemon Tree Cafe. Then we discovered a great butcher shop where we bought some delicious lamb and poultry to cook in. Be sure to walk around James Fort and take the tour of Fort Charles, and then stop in at The Dock for a pint or two when you return. All in all it was a very enjoyable week!

Kinsale was our first stop of three on two week vacation in Ireland. The four of us could not stop talking about how perfectly Kinsale set the stage for our travels – the town is picture-perfect, the surrounding area open for long walks and exploration, and the food divine (we have placed Ireland at the top of our list of food consumed while traveling, it was amazing!). This apartment is great for two couples as one bedroom is up and one down with living/dining/kitchen in the middle. It is close to a bar that is open late and fun for a pint before bed or between activities. Right outside of the door is a short walk to a beach and countryside containing a castle, old church and gunnery if you explore long enough. The views over the marina and town are fantastic. It is a short drive into the town of Kinsale, or about a 2 mile walk around the bridge (there is a path). The town is full of shops and restaurants and pubs and people, truly a fun place to stay. The apartment is across the bay which makes it a little less hectic and relaxing if you are looking to get away. This location offers a great balance of food, entertainment, outdoor exploration and relaxation for vacationers. Also, the owners are fantastic – easy to book with, great communication, easy directions and access, loads of information about the area. I, and the rest of my group, highly recommend this location.

If you are looking for a place to center your vacation in Ireland, please consider this wonderful home. Placed within the peaceful, beautiful and relaxing area of Castlepark in Kinsale, this home is the perfect place if you are looking to enjoy the county experience of Ireland. You are steps from the beach and magical hiking experiences around the ruins of James Fort, built centuries ago. You are also steps from the wonderful, friendly, on the water, pub, The Dock. The house itself fits the description by the owner. It is bright inside, has a full kitchen and 2 full bathrooms, and is very well maintained. The owner was extremely helpful and accommodating. I have never been to Ireland before, and the owner proved to be an excellent "expert" on places to eat, see and do...not just in the Kinsale area, but in other areas we were going to be in. The owner was very accessible before our trip, during our trip and even after our trip! I would without a doubt recommend this home, or any home from this owner, to all of my friends, and especially my family. This is a home for those who want access to fantastic restaurants, pubs and activities, but don't want to be right in the middle of them. If you do decide to stay here, don't miss out on the Ghost Tour of Kinsale, a sunny afternoon at The Dock and a meal at Fishy Fishy.
