Why the Owner Chose Union
Hood Canal is the only fjord in the lower 48 states and has been affectionately called the "Venice of the Northwest." Union was Washington State's first artist colony (by non-native Americans) started in the 1920's . The history and beauty of this area is unmatched! Rich in cultural abundance, this enchanting region is where my family chose to settle a half a century ago. When we were traveling in Europe we were amazed at the similarities between here and Switzerland particularity Lucerne, as well as areas in the Mediterranean. This little region of the Olympic Peninsula is steeped in Native American history and lore and offers a deeply mystical landscape and resonance. We feel fortunate to be able to offer our family treasure with others.
The Unique Benefits at this Bungalow
Nestled amongst the old growth of an Olympic Mountain rainforest, our carriage house overlooks Hood Canal and offers access to an oyster beach loaded with shellfish. The view from the house and your own deck allows you to see a whole world of marine and fowl life as well as award winning sunsets. A 5- person hot tub offers a different view of the water as you gaze under the brilliant starry landscapes. A built in fire circle for 10, gives the whole family a place to gather around and tell stories. A private Zen garden complete with comfortable couch and chairs is yours to relax and meditate in. Fully furnished with beautiful designer beds and complete with gourmet coffees and teas you'll never want to leave!
Owner's Map of Union
Our custom carriage house was built for our family and friends. Everyone who has stayed with us, has always encouraging us to "let others" enjoy the unique beauty of our guest house and the surrounding property. We decided to take their advice and in March 09 we starting renting it out. Wow! The happiness and peace we see in the faces of our guests when they leave, makes us wonder why we didn't do this sooner! It has truly been incredible, meeting people from all over the world, sharing their stories and getting to introduce (or reacquaint) them to this piece of paradise! "Best Night's Sleep Ever" is the comment we hear most consistently. Don't forget to bring your camera or film gear, this is heaven for picture takers and directors!

This was the first place I found for our stay in Washington State when researching. Based on the pictures and this site, I almost planned our entire itinerary on staying at the cottage. Coming from Texas, it seemed to be very much my image of Washington State. From my original email contact with Linda, I knew it was the right idea. She was incredibly organized and even included lots of tourist information and restaurants early on so it was easy to find even more things to do in the area. Not knowing the area, we came in to Union in the evening. I thought it was a little bigger of a town so at the last minute, I was trying to find eggs and bread or basics to make breakfast at the cottage in the morning. We ended up picking up some nasty glazed cinnamon rolls from the gas station to get us by. Linda’s driving directions were easy. We arrived at the cottage seeing just what was in the pictures. It was so cute and cozy. Again, coming from Houston, Texas, I even thoroughly enjoyed looking at Linda’s house nearby along with our wonderful views of the canal. The dock was a very short, scenic walk where a seal and her pup greeted us along with a beautiful sunset! As for the cottage, very very clean. Pristine clean but cozy at the same time. Many places I’ve stayed have a greasy film in the kitchen from lack of thorough cleaning. This place was well taken care of. The kitchen was more than stocked. Linda had filled our refrigerator with a new milk, juice, full dozen eggs, bagels, and cheese. I don’t know if she normally stocks the fridge but considering we almost drove back to the nearest town 25 minutes away for groceries, she sure made our day! The pantry was more stocked than my pantry! Lots of coffees, teas, hot chocolate, cooking spray, spaghetti noodles, etc. which I’m sure the supply changes as people leave or use these things. The cottage also has a washer and dryer which we did use. I was also surprised that detergent was provided. I was spoiled with that as our last place did not provide and any detergent! Heaters and lots of blankets were everywhere. Both bedrooms were very nice and very comfortable bed. My one difficulty was that the Asian theme room near the bathroom was very dark. Sorting through our suitcases to find things was a little difficult. Yes, we wear glasses but we are in our 40’s and still had a little trouble with that. Small price to pay! Somehow I managed to plan a busy enough schedule during our stay that we had little down time
Owner response:Thank you, Thank you! It was just lovely getting to meet you and again thank you for adding to our little carriage house by leaving the great info! I know other guests will appreciate it! It's always wonderful to get the perspective of guests from other states and countries! I try and make the house just the way I would like it, if I was staying away from home! We love providing the details that make a stay extra special! Please come back in the summer and get the "Summertime Bliss" on the canal. I'm going to also send you that picture I told you about of the "Fall Spectacular" that happens around Halloween here, it's pretty incredible! We'll look forward to seeing you again! All My Best Linda PS I'm adding an extra light in that bedroom, thank you great feed back!

It was pretty much love at first sight. The moment you pull up in the driveway you know you chose the right spot. The view of the canal from the deck, living room and kitchen are so close you feel like you are right on the water. The carriage house has been decorated and set up in such a way that you immediately begin to relax and kick in to vacation mode. The space is very quiet with super comfy beds. Linda keeps the kitchen and the pantry well stocked with the basics. She even includes eggs, bagels, cream cheese, and other nibbly snacks. What an extra special touch that adds to an already wonderful lodging experience. The private Zen garden behind the house is tranquil and a soothing place to let go of your stress and recharge your body. We didn't have time to sit in the hot tub but it is situated on a gorgeous wood deck filled with comfy lounge chairs. Not to mention the huge firepit...we can't wait to make smores next time we come. Pebble Beach Place is a dream rental made for ALL; a girls weekend away, a romantic anniversary, a family reunion and even for individuals looking to get away from it all. Book your trip today...you will wish you had done it sooner.
Owner response:Thank you so much!! I enjoyed you both so much and it makes me so happy that you had should a good time, both at our place and around the area. I'll have the latest Walter Dacon open and ready for you ladies the next time you come! You're the best! Can't wait to see you both again! Thanks again, Linda

Our stay at Pebble Beach Place exceeded all of our expectations. It was incredibly peaceful with every detail attended to. The cottage was well stocked (as other reviewers mentioned) and the pantry included just about everything you'd have in your own home. As a family, we especially enjoyed playing in the tidepools at low tide- watching the starfish, crabs, snails, finding a geoduck and best- the multitude of oysters, clams and mussels which were available fresh off the beach for our dinner. Linda was an incredible hostess, she set up a campfire for us and helped get the fixings for s'mores after a dip in the hot tub overlooking the water. She was available to answer all of our questions and to give us local tour advice. The artistic gardens on the property were also gorgeous and relaxing. If you're looking for a wonderful, quiet, comfortable and relaxing vacation this is a place for you! Thank you Linda for sharing your space with us. We had an amazing time and will surely be back.
Owner response:Thanks so much, you guys are the best! It was our pleasure to have you all! You always have a place here on the Canal! We'll look forward to your next visit with us! Linda and Family

Wow what a super cute, clean, and relaxing place. This was my first experience with Homeaway and I can tell you we were very pleased! Our host and hostess Linda and Greg did a superb job in creating a relaxing and inviting environment. From the well stocked pantry, to helping us with fresh oysters from their beach, it was all 5 star! We can't wait to get back during the summer months and look forward to staying at this great place again. PS Union is a wonderful little town with delicious eatery's!
Owner response:Thanks Denise and Jon! We had a great time as well, and we're so happy you liked the seafood! We look forward to seeing you again this summer and remember returning customers get a great discount! All Our Best, Linda and Greg

My grown daughter and I felt perfectly comfortable...all the conveniences and a well stocked refrigerator and pantry. We so enjoyed our cup of tea in the mornings while taking in the view from the comfy sofa. Linda was a perfect host for a relaxing getaway that was waaaay too short.
Owner response:Thanks so much gals. I sure loved having you both! You were both great guests and I can't wait to have you come back and enjoy the place in the sunshine with all the flowers in bloom and the garden in full swing!

This was truly a hidden gem that offered solitude, peace and relaxation. It was extremely well equipped, coming with a well stocked fridge also. The beds were amazing - truly the place to recharge those worn down batteries!! We were there with our 7 year old son and our 6 month old golden retriever and each of us enjoyed every second - our son would not even put on the tv because it would spoil the peace he said!! We will definitely be back to this "heaven on earth" when life gets too busy again. Thank you for sharing with us - Fritts family.
Owner response:Thank you so much! We loved having you and your beautiful family. It does our hearts good when a family gets to truly rest and reconnect. That's why we chose to share this place with the rest of the world. It's too special to just keep for ourselves! My husband says we should market our place for individuals with insomnia! Thanks again and can't wait to have you all back! Linda

This met all my expectations and more. It was a lovely place with lovely owners. I only wish I could have stayed longer and walked around the property more. It was so cozy and peaceful and had everything I needed - herbs, coffee, honey AND fresh local eggs and 1/2 and 1/2 for breakfast in the fridge...wow. I was so happy. I would not only recommend it - I brag about it ALL the time. It was a tough time of year for weather (Oct) but managed to be absolutely lovely. I took a drive down the canal...stopped at antique shops and meandered around. There is alot to do but it was a little wet.
Owner response:Thank you Tyce we loved having you and are really looking forward to seeing you again! Hopefully you will be able to make it out this summer to enjoy the dock and the beach without the rain. Also we give all our return guests a discounted rate!

I recently stayed at the house and found it be just perfect. The location is great...close to restaurants and other entertainment. A great, quiet setting and Linda went out of her way to make us feel like quests at her home. I will definately be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place in Hood Canal!
Owner response:Thanks so much Mike, we certainly enjoyed all of you! Please come back anytime I owe Mia a treat! Linda
