I stayed at this lovely apartment for just a couple of nights while I was in town for some projects. The place is very well equipped, very clean and welcoming. The bathroom is BIG (loved it) and the whole place fit me perfectly. It would be a sweet spot for one or two people for a getaway, work-trip, family visit, etc. There's a great private patio to use for meals or just sitting out. I could walk to most everything I needed (restaurants, park, public transit - even a hardware store!). It would be a great home-base for a trip to Portland and the surrounding area. I'd definitely stay again (in fact, I could see it becoming my go-to spot when visiting Portland). Thanks for a great local spot!Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

Had a wonderful stay at this art-filled, beautiful and well-maintained apartment. The location was perfect - easy to walk to popular and up and coming neighbourhoods, close to lots of major transit lines, wonderful to just amble around and admire the lovely homes or swing by the local farmer's market. The thing I most appreciated is the private garden - while I thoroughly enjoyed exploring Portland, I really looked forward to putting my feet up at the end of the day and sitting in my own little oasis - lovingly cared for by Stan and Gail - and watching the sunset. The apartment definitely contributed to all my fond memories of my trip to Portland.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Had an absolutely outstanding stay at this clean, quiet, and well appointed condo in the funky, vibrant Buckman district of Portland. The peaceful, Zen-like atmosphere inside the condo perfectly complimented the tranquility of the garden area. We appreciated the original, contemporary paintings that hang in the rooms - they seemed to set a bright, inspired mood tone every day we were there. We spent most mornings sitting outside in the garden patio, sipping our coffee amid the many herbal plants that grow abundantly in raised beds alongside the brick walkways. Several family members and friends dropped by and all were amazed and pleased with the property. Prepared a dinner for 6 and never had a bit of trouble with any of the appliances. Oven, gas burner stove top worked great. - pots/pans,place settings, serving platters; everything was easy to find. Within walking distance of many delightful cafes - and if you don't mind longer excursions, there are even more establishments that can be accessed by foot or bike (a good mile or two to some places, but a great way to get some exercise while on vacation). Highly recommend visiting Crema coffeehouse, Coalition Brewery, and Ken's Artisan Pizza. J & M Cafe on 5th and Ash was a great little spot for breakfast. Zupan's Market on nearby Belmont St is within reasonable walking distance and offers organic produce and a decent selection of natural foods. A good hike (only 2 miles round trip) and great place to shop is Music Millennium, where we spent many hours perusing their CD stacks - excellent jazz collections, new and used. The owners have really given thoughtful consideration to the comfort of their guests: from the clean, quality bedding, ample bath towels (loved the bathroom, too!), to the simple lines of the IKEA furnishings - this place spells serenity. Plenty of space for morning yoga or Tai Chi. Most definitely will stay here again!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Just completed a four night stay at this property with a few family members. The house is located in a great neighborhood, with plenty of excellent restaurants, shops, and pubs in walking distance. Downtown is also a reasonably short walk, or very quick drive. The interior is beautifully decorated with the owners' artwork. Outside, the garden makes for a very relaxing setting in which to eat breakfast or have a few drinks. Property was clean and well-maintained. I would certainly recommend this property to anyone who wants an affordable rental property that is in a fun neighborhood.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

My husband and I stayed here during our first trip to Portland and found the location wonderful. It is close to restaurants, bars, shopping, art galleries, and downtown. The quiet residential neighborhood was great along with easy parking on the street in front of the unit. Overall we found the property to be large, confortable, well appointed, and easy to live in for our 9 night stay. We will definitely return and hope to rent this same unit again.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway.

We recently stayed in this apartment for ten days. The apartment was as it appears in the photographs - even better. Gail and Stan have thought of everything to make one's stay enjoyable and comfortable: reading lamps and comfortable chairs, washer/dryer, great bathroom and all of the kitchen implements & appliances you could want. As well, the apartment is warmly decorated, with original art on all of the walls. Definitely a home away from home. The location is perfect. We were without a car and we were able to walk or transit everywhere. As well, several restaurants and pubs, a large Whole Foods store and local fresh food markets made eating and cooking very easy. Our teenage daughter especially enjoyed the vintage shops within walking distance. Gail provided all of the maps and tourist information necessary to make it easy to experience Portland. We really enjoyed our stay in Portland, and this apartment certainly contributed to a very enjoyable experience.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

My husband and I spent a month in Portland last July. We rented this property for the month and found it to be a wonderful experience. The apartment was immaculate and well appointed. It provided all the necessary ammenities for a comfortable stay. Stan and Gail provided much information about the area including maps, transit, and restaurant information. There were books on walking trails in the city. We had total privacy, yet Gail and Stan were available at any time to answer questions and provide information. We highly recomment this property and will stay there again when we return to Portland.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

What a great location for someone visiting Portland. This property is a gem: clean, comfortable, furnished down to salt in the salt shakers! The owners are artists so the art work on the walls makes this a very special place to live temporarily. The condo is within walking distance of all kinds of wonderful food establishments. You can walk to most anything you want. Even a theater is nearby. We loved the lovely garden this past summer with its spices to use in the kitchen. The Wi-Fi worked with no problems. The property owners are friendly and accommodating. What more could you want?!? We were more than pleased with our experience and would like to stay there again. We had a wonderful stay in this large, well-equipped condo. The neighborhood was quiet, with a garden out your front door and tree-lined streets. Easy walking distance to public transportation. Street parking was very close, often right outside the gate. Bed was comfortable, and a variety of bedding, blankets and comforters keep you warm. Wonderful bathtub for those who like to soak. Terrific restaurants and bakeries just a walk and/or bus ride away. Gail and Stan were extremely responsive hosts.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

About the owner: We chose this location because it is just 15 minutes to the Airport where we pick up visiting artists, family and friends. Very convenient access to the Freeway. And most important we purchased this building because of the huge front painting studio with lots of wonderful light. The rear apartment and garden gave us a spot to host small gatherings. And we enjoy being able to walk just a block or two to some of the best dining in Portland--coffee at Creama and Voodoo doughnuts(mentioned on NPR as the best coffee and pastries in Portland). We are close to everything and can enjoy theater performances, gallery openings, attend lectures at Portland State or Reed, ride bikes to the river parkway, concerts and movies in the parks, shopping and skating at the Lloyd center and on and on.
