This perfect 2 family home is actually multi-generational as well as two families joining together for fun and relaxation. With 2 master bedrooms, 2 family rooms ,each with it's own fireplace, the kids can have the downstairs and the adults can stay on the main level. The home's second master bedroom is at the peak of the house with it's own thermostat and full bath.
The kitchen is designed for a crowd. The dishwasher is double deck so there are no dirty dishes stacked in the sink; it's really 2 dishwashers. The frig is a large French door style with a good size freezer. The usual range/oven as well as a microwave are there but also 2 coffee pots.
A stacked washer/dryer makes life easier and more time for fun. The wrap around porch with high windows brings the outdoors inside but with great comfort.
The back yard is Trillium Park with deer, squirels and other animals, especially birds.

We live at the ocean front in Virginia Beach and wanted a second home that would provide a retreat in the summer when the sand was too hot to walk on but you could drive a few hours away and need a blanket to sleep. Cool golf weather with challenging golf cources, one flat and one on the side of a mountain and great skiing and snowboarding for our children and grandchildren.
Why the Owner Chose Wintergreen
When we decided to buy and build in Wintergreen, our focus was on fun and relaxation. We wanted to minimize upkeep as well as daily chores of housekeeping so we could enjoy our children and grandchildren. Being close to nature and the animals was a great plus. We enjoyed the SPA as well as Devils Knob Golf Course, both nearby. An easy to get to location was great for visiting friends.

We spent a week here for Christmas with our entire extended family (three families with little kids, a couple of single adults, and grandma and grandpa). The house was large enough to accommodate everyone comfortably! The upstairs master, main level master, and downstairs bedroom are each spacious enough to hold pack 'n' plays or inflatable beds for the kids and babies. There were enough chairs (including extra folding chairs) and tables for us to eat together, and the kitchen was reasonably well equipped. The main level's living area was roomy enough to gather in, and the downstairs living area made a great playroom for the kids. The gas fireplaces on both the main and lower levels were a toasty treat. The rental rate was quite reasonable, and the owners were very friendly and easy to work with. They helped make our stay for the holidays extra nice (they decorated the house, brought up the leaves to extend the table, and left holiday linens for us to use, for instance). The house is walking distance from the Black Bear Cafe and the Wintergreen Nature Center (which has information about hiking trails as well as some exhibits and a play-room for little kids). A few cons to be aware of: the house has a steep gravel driveway. Also, there's no internet access, and most of our smartphones didn't have any service in the house (Sprint had spotty service in some corners of the house, but with both AT&T and Verizon, we had to hike up to the street). That made planning activities, checking in with work, and communicating much more difficult while we were there. We brought some extra kitchen equipment with us (and wish we had brought a set of knives) so we could cook and bake while there. We found the central heating system particularly noisy (most noticeable at night). And the view from the house is limited, compared to other properties in the neighborhood. All in all, for the rate, it was a lovely house and we had a wonderful time there!

This is a fantastic property to rent. We stayed here while participating in the Tough Mudder 2011 competition. It provided ample space for 5 couples to each have their own bedroom, without feeling cramped. Great kitchen allowed us to cook and the dining area was spacious enough to allow us all to eat together comfortably. It is literally a stones throw from the Wintergreen Resort. We were able to walk to the spa, restaurants, and other facilities with relative ease. The owners were extremely easy to work with and made all details for coordinating the rental super easy. I highly recommend this property for families, hikers, skiers, or folks just looking to get away to the mountains for the weekend.

The house is very comfortable, well designed. The owners have thoughtfully equipped it. It is beautiful, spacious, peaceful. The owners are very nice to work with, as well. We are looking forward to returning as soon as possible.

Wonderful home for a getaway to Wintergreen, very spacious bedrooms with lots of room for everyone to spread out. Kitchen fully equiped for cooking large meals for your group. Very close to Wintergreen Spa and the shuttle stop to the lifts! Owners are great to work with and have a super home!
