Four of us shared this house while we spent a week working here. Although we were unable to take in the sights of the city and the surrounding area we did not feel cheated because this delightful little property made it seem like a vacation. We especially loved spending time on the porch admiring the garden while we drank coffee in the morning or ate dinner in the evening. The house is cozy and the furnishings are eclectic and fun. It felt like we were reliving our lives when we were children in the 1950s and 60s. Tom, the property manager, was very helpful and friendly and the homeowners made us feel welcomed. We would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+, families with young children, people with disabilities.

How much do we enjoy this property? Let me count the ways . . . It’s centrally located and easily accessed from all sides of town. The gated off-street entrance and high-wall fencing provide a great sense of security and privacy. This home is a single, sprawling level; the bedrooms are all very private, each with a separate entrance. The beds in every room are superbly comfortable with very nice linens. Quietly nestled behind the main house is the separate cottage with its own full kitchen. The large grounds of the property are wonderfully landscaped with lovely paths. There are several fun and comfy seating areas. Bonus: the owners thoughtfully provide birdseed! If you remember to put it out in the evening, you will be treated with a morning parade of quail, dove, finches and other delightful little birds, all singing and hopping about in the cactuses, paloverde and other bushes. Coffee on the patio here is breakfast and a show! The interior of the home is tastefully decorated with art and furnishings, all very interesting and inspiring. The kitchen is loaded with all the gadgets for cooking on the gas range, or take advantage of the full size barbecue grill outside. There is a large flat screen tv in the guest cottage and another flat screen tv and entertainment system in the main house living area. Without a doubt, the grounds and the pool area are the most remarkable aspect of this property. The beautiful pool and jacuzzi are safely gated with a beautiful wrought iron fence, so you can enjoy your surroundings while around the pool. The pool is very clean and just the right size for swimming laps or playing. The amazing views of sunrise and sunset are wide open – huge views! Our family voted their favorite as evening swimming and soaking under the crystal clear night skies. The stars are endless! Although we were on business, it was truly a pleasure to stay in the home with our family. The property management is very accommodating and attentive. The few issues we had were addressed promptly. We recommend this property highly and without hesitation. It is an excellent value and a memorable experience. Tucson is paradise and this home is the best place to enjoy it!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My family and I (8 total) really enjoyed our stay at this home. The house is well maintained, clean, comfortable and in a safe neighborhood. Everything worked fine, and we slept well in the plush beds. Close to the University of Arizona. The owners are easy to work with and made us feel very welcome. No hesitation in recommending this home to future guests.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

My girlfriend and I stayed here with 3 other couples for a wedding weekend. In short we're coming back to this house for our next visit to Tucson. The location is central and convenient to the U of A campus, restaurants, as well as the airport,Gates Pass, Mt. Lemmon, etc. The house is comfortable and clean with nice bedrooms and a very functional kitchen. The pool is fantastic and the landscaping is beautiful. The patio is awesome and very relaxing as you can soak all of this in over an outdoor meal. We enjoyed all of this during our down time. As I said, we'd gladly come back, so it comes highly recommended!Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

It was obvious the owners take pride in the property and we noticed that the moment we drove up the drive. Personally, I really admired the property's gate structure and a hand-crafted, wooden door is fantastic! While the weather was too cool for us to take advantage of the pool and hot tub, that area is beautiful and would be a nice spot for relaxing in warmer weather. There are comfy beds and clean linens provided. Not something we take for granted but find really welcoming. We loved the house and the way the property has been landscaped. It is really charming and so relaxing and comfortable. The owners have done a great job with it. It's clean, airy and inviting. My wife and I found our routine quickly and enjoyed our stay very much. With the fruit trees, Saguaro and other regional plants really setting off the yard, it's prime space for attracting birds. This made for great early morning coffee and conversation on the porch while the sun was rising to warm the air. You'll see sunrise and sunset on the Catalina Mountains from this porch. The big rocker was my favorite seat but there are plenty of comfortable spaces on a big western-style, rambling porch. We shared the house with our two adult kids and each of us had plenty of personal space when needed. Together, we all really enjoyed the opportunity to sit beside the fire at night, share meals that we prepared in the kitchen, or end the evenings with a look up at the stars. It was great to spend the time together in this peaceful and quiet setting. The location is convenient to central Tucson for restaurants, site-seeing and shopping. Not far away are two of our favorite places, Beyond Bread and Ike's Coffee, and at the same time we were just minutes from Sabino Canyon hiking and access to areas beyond Tucson. We also made a fantastic discovery on this trip, The Tucson Tamale Company. If you love tamales, you'll find this place on Broadway and if you're like us you'll be ordering them shipped back home after seeing them made and enjoying the flavor. If you're looking for restaurants with a broader menu, look for the new Acacia Restaurant on Skyline or the Old Pueblo Grill. Both are easy drives from this house. We had a great week at this Tucson getaway that's so close to many of our favorite things and offers a wonderful place to gather and enjoy time together.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

My family and I rented this house for the weekend. We loved the pool and the kitchen especially. Great for cooking and entertaining. There is also a very nice grill. The A/C works great (very important in AZ) and he beds are so comfortable. The best part of the property has to be the yard. It is filled with cacti, fruit trees and various flowering plants. Would definitely recommed this property as a centrally located Tucson retreat.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers, people with disabilities.

We shared the home with several couples. All of us were visiting with U of A students over the Parents weekend. The accomodations were great, met expectations and were within a few miles of campus. The home has a great artistic flair to it and was very comfortable for gathering friends and family together throughout the weekend. The outdoor porch and pool areas combined with the great gardens to create the perfect backdrop. Everything we needed was there and it was easy. We look forward to staying again.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

I stayed at this house from 9/04/09 to 9/30/09. The cactus garden is uniquely charming, and is laced with little walking paths throughout. The pool and jacuzzi are new, and beautifully tiled with Spanish tiles. The house is very comfortable, with large, new memory-foam beds. The listing description was quite accurate. Everything was clean and well-maintained, including the grounds.I have already recommended the property to several friends. Play Dove Mountain, if you are a golfer. It's a new Nicklaus course, and as good as any you can find in the Southwest. .Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

About the owner: Tucson is our escape from cold and rainy northern climates. We enjoy it all year round. Christmas, Spring, even the hot summer!
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
We love the convenient central location of this property and the magic of the house and grounds. The footprint of the property is almost an acre, and to find a lot that big is rare in central Tucson. The house was part of an old artist's community built in the early 40's when literally nothing was around. The 150-200 year old saguaros which tower in the garden were there though, and the four of them on the property are rare. The property is completely fenced/walled, and sits up on a little hill from the street. From street level the top of the fence is almost 9 feet! So its very private and has the great, unobstructed mountain views.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The very large lot with mature desert landscaping make this home a relaxing private retreat. We were able to build an oversized pool area because of the large lot. The entry gates make for maximum privacy and easy exit/entry. We hope our guests will enjoy it as much as we do.
