Sonoma cottage description

Enjoy all that Wine Country has to offer while staying in your own cottage overlooking a private vineyard and the mountains beyond. Separate from the main house, this restored craftsman-style water tower has an almost storybook feel with beautiful exposed beams, light streaming in through the sliding glass doors and picture windows that open up to vast vineyards.

The cottage is located in the famed Buena Vista region on the Eastside of Sonoma and has unbeatable views! You will be within walking distance of California's finest wineries, a mere mile and a half away from Sonoma's historic plaza, and equally close to many beautiful hiking trails. All of this is made even more accessible with the complementary use of matching Schwinn cruisers and helmets!

Drive in through our vineyards and park right next to the cottage. The bedroom is located above the bath and living area giving the house a very cozy loft-style feel. The mattress is very comfortable, the sheets are soft, and we even offer fluffy robes to cuddle up in. The living area is equipped with a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker and the entire cottage has wifi access. It also features your own private patio complete with a bistro table and chairs to watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee, the moonrise with a glass of wine, or to just sit outside and enjoy the breathtaking views!

So go visit a winery, enjoy downtown Sonoma, or just sit back and relax on your own quiet patio. We'd love to have you!

Cozy, clean, comfortable, private cottage, with very friendly, accommodating hosts. Loved watching the sunrise over the mountains and vineyard while sipping coffee, and the full moon rising in the evening while sipping wine at the bistro table outside the glass door entrance to our home for a week. Really loved being able to use the bikes to explore some of Sonoma restaurants and wineries. We'd be happy to have a return visit here. We tried to eat only 1 restaurant meal per day, so would have appreciated something like a toaster over or grill, but knew that was not part of this rental. We enjoyed our picnic meals "at home"! This was our first trip to wine country, but it will not be the last! Also enjoyed perfect weather, warm days, cool nights! Any recommendations that are offered by Deb & John are great suggestions. Thanks for a fun, relaxing, enjoyable, superb vacation!

Great place, very peaceful and quiet. Nicely decorated and clean as a whistle. Very comfy bed with great sheets. The bikes were a bonus, we really recommend Deb's advice hiking on the private vineyard, amazing views. All the restaurants that we ate at where excellent. Enjoyed seeing John's antique cars and private wine room. I had my dates mixed up and the owners were most accommodating. Would definitely stay again and would highly recommend :)

We had a great time. The house is close to everything including some great wineries. Don't forget to bring your own shampoo and soap. Also, take their advice and don't bike at night - the roads are very dark. We had a great stay and would definitely stay there again!

Owner response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am so sorry you did not have soap as I provide french milk soap to all guests. But you were here when my regular housekeeper was having a baby, so it was just missed! But great idea on shampoo, next year I will supply that too! thanks again! and Brand New Bikes next year!

My wife and I arrived a couple days early for friend's wedding and wanted to stay nearby. This place was perfect! The bed was super comfy and the view was great. We were so surprised with how quiet it was not only at night but during the day, too. It was the perfect size to use as a base for exploring the surrounding vineyards, wineries and downtown Sonoma. The his and her bikes were a key feature for us choosing this location. It was a very easy and fun ride into downtown Sonoma. We would have never stumbled upon the farmer's market near the bike path without our two-wheeled transports. The recommendations the Petricka's provided were excellent! The Sunflower Caffe is an exceptional place for breakfast - the coffee and food are fantastic! Fortunately for us, it was harvest time while we were there! Very cool to see. And lastly, Calvin the cat is THE friendliest feline I've ever met!

Quaint cottage, conveniently located; we made good use of the beach cruisers to get into Sonoma Square and visit a few wineries. Property was clean, view over the vineyard was really nice; definitely recommended for a weekend getaway.

We visited during the third week of October to celebrate our 10th anniversary. What a wonderful, peaceful and romantic setting right on the vineyard. Deb and John are wonderful hosts; we truly enjoyed our visit and seeing John's antique cars. We even got to taste the wine that their grapes come from. We we would absolutely recommend staying here and will stay again if we have the chance.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights during the harvest season. This is a wonderful place and a good value. The cottage affords substantial privacy even thought it's 40 yards or so from the main house. The grounds are superbly maintained and enjoyed by two friendly cats (the cats aren't allowed in the cottage). Sonoma was having an unexpected heat-wave when we arrived (105 in October), and we found the air conditioning more than sufficient (the wife likes to sleep under the duvet). There are some nice chairs just outside the front door that are great for having some wine and enjoying the sunset. I really don't think the interior photos do this place justice - you can tell that this cottage was recently built with a great attention to detail and the furnishing is much nicer in person than it is in the photos. The owners are super nice and really helpful. A couple things to consider before booking. The stairway to the upstairs bedroom is narrow - we didn't have a problem with it, but it might not be great for people who have trouble with stairs. The bathroom is small with a stand up shower. We found it more than adequate and very clean. We did have trouble getting a medium-hot shower temperature since the temperature control is finicky and difficult to adjust. If you like hot showers (the wife does), you'll be happy. The bikes are a nice touch, it's a quick easy ride to Sonoma Plaza. We would definitely like to stay here again!

My wife and I stayed two nights here. Deb was a compete pleasure to work with and was so friendly, Thge cottage and grounds are great if you are looking for a quiet romantic time together. The location is outstanding considering the town square is so close and the choices of such great wineries within a short 5 minute drive. The value can not be beat!

Wonderfully picturesque, peaceful, and convenient location to stay in Sonoma. The water tower and surrounding grounds are even more impressive-looking than the listing photos. The inside of the rental unit was immaculately clean and well-furnished - the owners did a wonderful restoration job. The bed was especially divine - you just sink into the softness of it. Deb was very welcoming when we first arrived. We felt completely comfortable sharing their property. Everyday we used the bikes to travel to Sonoma Square or nearby wineries - it felt so great to leave the car behind and get some sun! The only possible drawback for other renters is that the water tower is compact. I think it's the perfect size for a couple (particularly for a romantic getaway), but may not be ideal if you want a lot of space to spread out.

Thisproperty was perfect. It was extremely quiet, clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for day trips to the wineries in Sonoma and Napa. The owners were very hospitable and helpful in telling us good places to eat and also telling us some of the better local places to visit. We would recommend this property to couples who want to stay in a quiet, homey place while they tour the beautuful wine country. We would love to plan another trip to Sonoma and would definitely consider staying here again.

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 1996

About the owner: Hi, I'm Deb and my husband John and I are lucky to have one of the premier vineyard properties east of the Sonoma Plaza, still in the country but close to town. John has been living here in Sonoma for over 40 years and his love for this town passed to me and I've never looked back.

                  Why the Owner Chose Sonoma:
We fell in love with the property from the very beginning. My husband John had a vision, as a creative master cabinet maker all his life, for the old craftsman style bungalow that was set to be bulldozed. His vision became a reality and a few years later we won the Award of Excellence from the Sonoma League for Historic Preservation. From there we continued to restore the old barn sight and vineyard cottage. Today we enjoy our 8.5 acres and the magic of the land continues to amaze us.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
My husband John's passion is old cars, and right next door to the cottage is a barn full of antique cars and when John is home he loves to take our guests on a tour. We also have matching his and her Schwinn bikes and helmets for our guests to use as it is a short ride to downtown or just enjoy riding to the different wineries close by. You can play your iPod or iPhone on a small portable Altec Lansing docking station and there's a small television. We also bottle our own wine and at certain times of the year you might be able to do some barrel tasting!
