Romantic Sonoma Cottage Getaway on Private Vineyard
- Minimum stay:2 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Quaint private cottage separate from the main house nestled amidst Sonoma Valley's picturesque vineyards and breathtaking mountains views. Come stay in our restored Craftsman-style water tower and experience the best Sonoma has to offer. Like something out of a storybook, the house has beautiful exposed beams and plenty of light streaming through the sliding glass door entrance and picture windows which open up to vast vineyards.
Drive in through our vineyards and park right next to the cottage which is completely separate from the main house. The bedroom is located above the bath and living area, giving the house a very cozy loft-style feel. The mattress is very comfortable, the sheets are soft , the soap is milk soap from pre de provence, and we supply robes. The living area is complete with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and the entire cottage now has wifi access. The cottage is located in the famed Buena Vista region on the Eastside of Sonoma and has unbeatable views, including those of the mountains as well as our Merlot vineyards. You will be within walking distance of California's finest wineries, a mere mile and a half away from Sonoma's historic Plaza, and equally close to many beautiful hiking trails. All of this is made even more accessible with the complementary use of matching his and her Schwinn bikes and helmets!
So visit a winery, enjoy everything that downtown Sonoma has to offer, or just sit and relax on your own quiet patio. We'd love to have you!

We visited during the third week of October to celebrate our 10th anniversary. What a wonderful, peaceful and romantic setting right on the vineyard. Deb and John are wonderful hosts; we truly enjoyed our visit and seeing John's antique cars. We even got to taste the wine that their grapes come from. We we would absolutely recommend staying here and will stay again if we have the chance.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights during the harvest season. This is a wonderful place and a good value. The cottage affords substantial privacy even thought it's 40 yards or so from the main house. The grounds are superbly maintained and enjoyed by two friendly cats (the cats aren't allowed in the cottage). Sonoma was having an unexpected heat-wave when we arrived (105 in October), and we found the air conditioning more than sufficient (the wife likes to sleep under the duvet). There are some nice chairs just outside the front door that are great for having some wine and enjoying the sunset. I really don't think the interior photos do this place justice - you can tell that this cottage was recently built with a great attention to detail and the furnishing is much nicer in person than it is in the photos. The owners are super nice and really helpful. A couple things to consider before booking. The stairway to the upstairs bedroom is narrow - we didn't have a problem with it, but it might not be great for people who have trouble with stairs. The bathroom is small with a stand up shower. We found it more than adequate and very clean. We did have trouble getting a medium-hot shower temperature since the temperature control is finicky and difficult to adjust. If you like hot showers (the wife does), you'll be happy. The bikes are a nice touch, it's a quick easy ride to Sonoma Plaza. We would definitely like to stay here again!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I stayed two nights here. Deb was a compete pleasure to work with and was so friendly, Thge cottage and grounds are great if you are looking for a quiet romantic time together. The location is outstanding considering the town square is so close and the choices of such great wineries within a short 5 minute drive. The value can not be beat!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

Wonderfully picturesque, peaceful, and convenient location to stay in Sonoma. The water tower and surrounding grounds are even more impressive-looking than the listing photos. The inside of the rental unit was immaculately clean and well-furnished - the owners did a wonderful restoration job. The bed was especially divine - you just sink into the softness of it. Deb was very welcoming when we first arrived. We felt completely comfortable sharing their property. Everyday we used the bikes to travel to Sonoma Square or nearby wineries - it felt so great to leave the car behind and get some sun! The only possible drawback for other renters is that the water tower is compact. I think it's the perfect size for a couple (particularly for a romantic getaway), but may not be ideal if you want a lot of space to spread out.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Thisproperty was perfect. It was extremely quiet, clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for day trips to the wineries in Sonoma and Napa. The owners were very hospitable and helpful in telling us good places to eat and also telling us some of the better local places to visit. We would recommend this property to couples who want to stay in a quiet, homey place while they tour the beautuful wine country. We would love to plan another trip to Sonoma and would definitely consider staying here again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

My boyfriend and I had a very nice stay at this property. The location and setting cannot be beat - waking up to the view of the vineyards from the upstairs bedroom was spectacular, and the biking around the area was one of the highlights of our trip. The owners were very accessible, friendly and helpful with everything we needed (tips on nearby vineyards, getting to town, restaurants, etc). I would describe the cottage itself has a rustic charm to it (though a bit on the small side); it was well furnished, clean and contained everything we needed for our short stay. Our only suggestion would be to have wifi access available for guests. Overall a great visit and we would love to stay here again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

It is everything the owner says it is - charming, cozy, picturesque. It's wonderful to wake up in the morning and be able to look out across the vineyards without getting out of bed. It is close enough to town to be convenient but removed just enough to escape the crowds. Make sure you try the restaurants Deb recommends. The Sunflower Cafe is a delightful place to enjoy breakfast in the courtyard. Della Santina's has the best Italian food. Definitely a place where we would return.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the watertower on the vineyard! The place was very clean and included everything you could possibly need while staying in winecountry. We used the his and her bikes to get to all the local wineries and enjoy the Sonoma bike path. The best part of the stay was watching the sun come up over the mountains while laying in bed. Truly a special place! We can't wait to come back to the "Little House in the Vineyards" and we will be sure to tell our friends about this great place! Thanks for everything!!!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We came for our Anniversary and were pleased with last minute availability on a holiday weekend (due to a cancellation - lucky us!) This was a wonderful cottage, hosts and wine country experience. We were even greeted with some barrel tasting from the grapes grown on the property. Beautiful... and don't miss out on the bikes :) We'll be back!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

About the owner: Hi, my name is Deb and my husband John and I are lucky to have one of the premier vineyard properties east of the Sonoma Plaza, still in the country but close to town. John has been living here in Sonoma for over 40 years and his love for this town passed to me and I've never looked back.
Why the Owner Chose Sonoma:
We fell in love with the property from the very beginning. My husband John had a vision, as a creative master cabinet maker all his life, for the old craftsman style bungalow that was set to be bulldozed. His vision became a reality and a few years later we won the Award of Excellence from the Sonoma League for Historic Preservation. From there we continued to restore the old barn sight and vineyard cottage. Today we enjoy our 8.5 acres and the magic of the land continues to amaze us.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
My husband John's passion is old cars, and right next door to the cottage is a barn full of antique cars and when John is home he loves to take our guests on a tour. We also have matching his and her Schwinn bikes and helmets for our guests to use as it is a short ride to downtown or just enjoy riding to the different wineries close by. You can play your iPod or iPhone on a small portable Altec Lansing docking station and there's a small television. We also bottle our own wine and at certain times of the year you might be able to do some barrel tasting!
