All Seasons Retreat - Seagrove House - Come and Relax a Lot!
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Located on old, wooded, beautiful Seagrove Avenue, this home provides a quiet getaway with all the comforts of home. A bike ride away from Cape May Point beaches, lighthouse, and Bird Observatory, you'll have the best of Cape May Point to experience along with the nearby town of Cape May. The interiors of this well loved home were renovated in 2005 and furnished in a classic, inviting, comfortable manner. You'll find Seagrove House large enough to sleep eight, yet cozy enough for one.
Come. Unpack and stay awhile. Although this home appears plain on the outside, you'll be surprised to discover how welcoming it is. Grab an Adirondack chair, stretch out, and you'll usually hear the surf and the birds chattering away. You can bike to the Hawkwatch by the lighthouse, swing through the Point checking out the houses and beaches and continue on, if you feel like it, to Sunset Beach to collect Cape May diamonds. Stay to watch the flag ceremony honoring a deceased veteran and be thankful. Stay a little longer to watch the sunset and be thankful again. There are beaches to walk and relax on, fish to be caught, seas to look out upon and dolphins putting on their show. Cozy and comfortable, you're going to love your Cape May life here.

Our family (aged 4 to 64 plus the dog) stayed at Seagrove House for a week in August 2012. I cannot think of a thing that would have improved our experience. This listing accurately reflects the property. I measured it as exactly 1 mile from Cape May lighthouse & beach. The street was fairly low traffic. It was an easy bike ride & the bikes were in good condition. Cape May Point beach is very nice & much less crowded than Cape May proper. It is just over an hour to the Atlantic City train station, very helpful for family members who are coming & going through the week. The house was very clean, beds comfortable, outside shower was fabulous.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

Had a great weekend in this lovely house. The place is convenient and pet friendly. Only minus - full sized beds, but understandable because they had all antiques in house. Will plan to spend more time at this great place on the point.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: My husband and I were living in Texas, I'd retired from teaching and was having fun with a design business I'd previously started. All in my family have great memories of growing up summers in a lake cottage in Mass, and we still take turns using the place. Yet, my husband and I always wanted a place of our own. We hoped to find a fixer-upper in a good location near the ocean, preferably near deep water for sailing. At first sight, many would have thought this house a tear down, but stepping inside I could feel the possibilities. While John stayed home working, I spent from Nov. to mid June chipping, scraping, sanding, painting, sewing, hauling, and planting. Add the all important work of admired carpenters, plumbers and electricians and we now have our most loved "little" house.
Why the Owner Chose Cape May Point:
Cape May Point has green lawns and trees, wonderful uncrowded beaches, summer houses and year round people. It doesn't have a touristy feel. There are few condos, no high rises, my kind of place. People live here in Cape May and the Point because they want to, not primarily because their job moved them here. Cape May is a happy place with much to do, contribute to, and take in, from great theater and music, to good restaurants and art scene. The beaches are terrific. You can watch dolphins frolic, become mesmerized by the sound of the sea, and in the fall be surrounded by monarch butterflies who come streaming overhead on their journey south. Cape May offers everything we hoped to find, plus more.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
There's woods across the street from us, property belonging to an estate which has been in a family for generations. We're .8 of a mile from several beaches, yet have a privacy factor hard to come by. Grab a bike, your binoculars, borrow a birding book and you can be at the lighthouse and Hawkwatch with world class birders. Relax. Go down to the beach of your choice and fish, read, sunbathe, swim, or simply be mesmerized by the dolphins as they put on their daily show. At Seagrove House you'll find space outside for children to run and play, plus they can have their own space and tv upstairs while their parents have their area downstairs. The spacious back yard comes with an old time picnic table and is great for cookouts. Come and enjoy a comfortable step back in time with the conveniences of today.
