The apartment was nice and spacious. However, I didn't enjoy my stay because of abrasive interaction with the owner and a lack of air conditioning in the bedrooms. In the heat it was very difficult to sleep.Owner response: This is a case of a dishonest renter, who is upset that she and her party got caught in breach of contract and unlawfully entering a property. What Sarah conveniently leaves out of her review is that she and her party unlawfully entered the condo the day before they were contracted to arrive, in an attempt to cheat me out of money. She somehow thought that I wouldn’t find out. On the evening before her party was scheduled to arrive, I received a remote entry alert, meaning that somebody entered the key code into the unit door. Knowing that the unit was not supposed to be occupied, I was concerned. I first called Sarah, and asked if she was in the unit. She lied and said no. Knowing that her unique code had been entered, I tried to give her another opportunity to come clean. She lied again. When I confronted her with the evidence, she freaked out , and put her husband on the phone. He seemed really embarrassed at Sarah’s dishonesty. I told him that I had strong reservations about having them stay in my condo. Cheats are not exactly the types of tenants I’m looking for. After some pleading from him, I agreed to let them stay for the remainder of the time. Considering that I could have had them arrested for unlawful entry, I think I was pretty accommodating. It’s sad to see that 10 MONTHS LATER, Sarah decides to write this bogus review. Fortunately, dishonest people like Sarah make up a very small percentage of our guests. As evidenced by our 50+ stellar reviews, it’s clear that Sarah’s review is personal vendetta, and a misrepresentation.

We had a great time in Boston. What helped make it so nice was a comfortable place to come back to. Convenient location for transportation and walking. Toro restaurant next door was fantastic! Joho coffee was close and very good. The owners have thought of everything, hair dryer, fully supplied kitchen, good air conditioning, x-box for the kids.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, tourists without a car.

Ben's attention to detail in equiping the apartment with every convenience and tourist resource you need as a visitor to Boston is outstanding. Similarly, the ease of communicating with Ben by email prior to arrival generated confidence that we were in for a pleasant stay, and that proved true. Others have pointed out the convenience of the location and the general features of the apartment and I fully endorse those. There was only one mildly negative in our trip that caused me to drop from excellent, the noise. The windows are double glazed, but there was some repair underway on the glazing around an a/c unit in the second bedroom during our visit and this let street noise in. We had flown in from Asia so we needed all the help we could get to sleep through the night. Seeing how well maintained and organised everything else is, I'd be surprised if Ben has not already fixed this. If we return to Boston, I would certainly stay here again and would recommend it to any other families looking for a convenient, well equiped apartment.Recommended for: Families with young children.

I had a great stay with my girlfriends in this rental. Everything was spic and span when we arrived and the home just felt so cozy that my friends didn't even want to leave. The location was great as well and there was easy access to restaurants and bars. It was relatively easy to hail a cab at the intersection when we wanted to go further away. I'd never spent much time in South End before and seriously fell in love this weekend! Ben was really easy to work with and very responsive. I would highly recommend this rental unit to anyone visiting Boston.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We rented this condo for 4 of us traveling to Boston for the Boston Marathon (Inferno) 2012! The condo has everything it advertised and more - all the comforts of home and in a very convenient location.. Boston got unpredictably HOT during our stay (and for the marathon, boooo) but before it could become a problem Ben had the air units installed for our comfort.. We didn't even ask - he just offered to have them put in! THANKS BEN - you made my post marathon comfort so much better in that heat... I would definitely recommend this condo if you are looking for an alternative to the hotel scene and all the benefits/feel of living in Boston.. We will be back to redeem my time in the Marathon and will look to rent this condo again...Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

My husband and I and our 3 kids really enjoyed our 5-night stay in this condo/brownstone. Clean place, comfortable beds, new bathroom shower/tile, full kitchen with appliances, working computer w/internet access...couldn't ask for more. I especially liked the down comforters with clean (and washable) duvet covers, not the gross bedspreads that you usually find in rentals. Also, the information regarding transportation, restaurants, and Boston landmarks provided in the binders were great and made everything a little more convenient. Kids loved the xbox during downtime. We would have no reservation about renting this place again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.
Owner response: Thanks for the kind words., and glad you had a good stay. Please do come back for another visit.

This condo was perfect for us. It is in a great neighborhood near the shops and restaurants of Tremont St. and an easy walk to Newbury St. The place is very well kept, with lovely and modern amenities (unusual in Boston some times). It was very clean and accommodating from the plush cotton towels to a wonderful bottle of wine waiting for us. All things have been thought of for the discerning traveler and I would not for a second hesitate in recommending this place for a corporate retreat or a family visiting some colleges or loved ones. We had a blast, enjoyed Ben's recommendations for the local restaurants and things to do. And Ben was completely available during the rental process and when we had whatever questions. I hope we get a reason to come back soon, and will no doubt try and book this great place again. It was a professional level experience. Thanks again so much!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Glad the condo worked for you guys. Hope we'll see you again soon!

We rented this property for 3 nights. Wonderful apartment, nice furnishings, and obviously attentive owners. The gift basket was a great touch, and the information binder was really useful. On a busy street, but with the double windows, its VERY quiet. Can't say enough about it. The location is in the South End, a bit of a jaunt to downtown but dont let this stop you! Lots of nearby restaurants (definitely try Teranga, place just below the apt.), budget to high end. Transit is easily accessed right outside the door to major areas. All in all, one of the best places I've stayed and I will use it again. RobOwner response: Thanks for staying with us, and glad you tried Teranga! Hope you'll come visit again soon. -Ben

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: I'm a native-born New Englander, and have lived in Boston for over 16 years, though I spent my formative years in the South. I like to think that I've been able to import some of that 'southern hospitality' to the sometimes chilly Northeast.
Why the Owner Chose Boston:
I lived in this condo for 4 years, until work and family moved me to the suburbs. It's in an ideal, central location, convenient to all of the best that Boston has to offer.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Location is everything--and here, the city is literally at your doorstep. The beautiful South End, with its trendy shops and restaurants is there for the taking. A short walk or ride away is Newbury Street, Copley Square, Beacon Hill and Boston Common, as well as Fenway Park and the museums.
