I may be just a small beach cottage, but step into my entry and you’ll be welcomed by an eclectic mixture of art and antiques collected by my family over the years and lovingly displayed to create a romantic and intimate environment to inspire you during your stay.
“I have a tale to tell, my very own…won’t you come inside awhile and help me sing my song?”
~ The Green Cottage of Morro Bay
I am a very private Cottage. Quiet. Cozy. A get-away from the fast-paced world. I am the little “Green Cottage.”
I sit next to the water on Morro Bay, California. I am a peaceful and romantic guest hideaway for lovers … lovers of nature, art, thought, books, wine, adventure, discovery, solitude and soul, but especially for those who love and love to nurture themselves.
I sit on a bird sanctuary on the rural Central Coast of California, where I enjoy unobstructed 280 degree views of the Bay and mountains.
I offer you the opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, in romance, here in “the middle kingdom” as National Geographic once called my region of California. I am your natural escape, your refuge and your home base for exploring all that is around me and all that is within you.
Come and stay a spell with me. Read one of my intriguing books filled with short stories or watch one of my DVDs. Make tea or cook a gourmet meal in my fully equipped kitchen to enjoy by candlelight or under the stars on my kitchen’s deck. Snuggle into my sea foam green king-size bed.
Curl up with a good book in my corner reading chair, peruse original art on my walls, and discover my handmade baskets and carvings from South America, the South Seas, and local Native Americans. Enjoy a glass of award-winning Central Coast wine as you sit quietly on my deck and watch the pelicans, herons, snowy plovers and peregrine falcons while the sun slips silently into the horizon.
I have seen and heard many things in my three score and ten years. Like all places where people dwell, there is a spirit here that has been shaped by the personalities, conversations, and temperament of those who have spent time here. I have been occupied by travelers, adventurers, writers, painters, photographers, romantics and naturalists…and by my owners’ four generations of artists and lovers of life. Their presence lingers in the air and invites you to both partake and contribute your own essence to my evolving character.

Romantic Waterfront Get-Away for Two, on Morro Bay
Year Purchased: 1950
Why the Owner Chose Los Osos
This has been a private guest house for our family for decades. When it is not used by the family, it is available for visitors.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
The bay is part of the National Estuary Program, as well as a designated bird sanctuary. There are many places nearby to view birds, including a private dock. Morro Bay is an important stopover on the Pacific Flyway and winter home to numerous bird species. The north coast area of San Luis Obispo County is a haven for artists, wine and food aficionados, water sports enthusiasts, antique collectors, hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians, and people who appreciate quiet, undiscovered get-away locations. When the lure of open spaces calls you, follow winding country roads to award-winning vineyards for wine tasting, or to grassy hilltops for a picnic overlooking the Pacific. Beautiful Hearst Castle is just 35-minutes away, and beyond that is the splendor of the Big Sur coastline.
San Luis Obispo's initials -- SLO -- precisely describes the speed a visitor should use in examining the area's treasures and pleasures. Go to fast and you'll miss of the off-the beaten path venues hidden back in the hills and canyons like the Pozo Saloon, See Canyon apple farms, Tibor Canyon organic olive oil Ranch or the charming town of Harmony, with a population of 15.
Owner's Map of Los Osos
The Cottage has been in our family for two generations. We have lived on the bay for three decades and love it, and love to share it with others. The Cottage was originally built to shelter the duck hunters and fishermen who were attracted here, but it was soon bought in the 1950's by our parents and was used as a residence while they built their dream home next door. The Cottage has been our family's guesthouse since then and we've just made it available as a vacation rental. The charm as a family retreat has been retained through the complete refurbishing received in 2009. We have designed the Cottage to provide our guests with the perfect opportunity to immerse themselves in the Central Coast experience. We are not the Best Western -- just the opposite. What our guests won't find here are ringing phones, blaring TV or fax machines -- all by design, although we do provide wireless internet service and a 38" HDTV for watching DVDs, plus nearly 100 DVDs to choose from. We want the cottage to provide guests with the ability to ESCAPE the fast-paced world. We've tried to provide everything we can think of to make our guests feel pampered and comfortable.
