Location was amazing. Having never been to SF before, we were in the most central location. Easy access to buses, trolleys and BART. And we used them all! Perfect for a single or a couple looking for a home base in the city. Very comfy and appointed with all you might need while you were there. The part that wowed us the most was the interior design. The studio was cute and stylish and comfortable. And the use of glass and mirrors and simple designs made the studio feel much more spacious and open.

My friend and I stayed in the apartment for 6 weeks. We had the great opportunity to come all the way from Germany and do an internship in San Francisco. Arriving in the apartment, it directly felt like home! We were very happy to have such a wonderful place to live for this long time. We cooked a lot in the little kitchen, because everything we needed was already there. The location is perfect! After climbing up the hill the first two days, we discovered that the cable cars are going up just one block further. So our routine was taking the cable up after work. There are also many MUNI stations close to the apartment where you can catch different busses to enjoy the hole city. If we had any questions or needed help with something Deborah and her husband were always there to ask. This experience could not have been any better. Thank you so much for letting us stay in this lovely place!

Maravillosos animales. Totalmente recomendable. Volvería sin dudarlo.

When I was hired for a contract job in August of this past year, and needed to relocate cross-country in a matter of weeks, I was beyond stressed about finding a place to live that I would enjoy. The first rental I found, also through VRBO, claimed to be steps from Union Square and in a well-maintained building, which turned out to be a glossed-up version of the truth. When I started my stay at this studio, I was expecting the same exaggeration but if anything, this listing is understated, and at the end of my contract stay I didn't want to leave. The Lambourne is a beautiful building, perfectly maintained and incredibly safe. The area is picturesque and easy to get to MUNI and BART if traveling around is your aim. An easy walk to both Union Square and Chinatown, I found the location really great. There's a market in the basement of the building, and a larger one a few blocks away, so your essentials are easy to acquire, if you choose to use the studio's kitchenette. The apartment itself is incredibly clean, stylish and beautiful, comfortable for singles or couples, and short or long stay (the washer/dryer is a godsend!). I would absolutely recommend this property to a friend or relative. I would be remiss if I did not mention the owners of the property, who have assembled tons of recommendations for the area, and the city, and are incredibly responsive to requests and repairs. They truly play wonderful hosts, and provided a lovely stay for me.

We had the pleasure of staying here for 4 weeks in that time this place became our home. Presented very artfully and exceptionally clean. We had every thing needed, bed was great and position the best. The hills kept the weight down!!. Would recommend this for a quiet stay in a very beautiful city with something to do every day. Ozzie

This was a great apt. It was very clean, comfortable and conveniently located. Walking distance to Union Square, China Town and North Beach. Only a half a block from cable cars for those times we didn't feel like walking. Buying a 7-day MUNI pass was much more economical than $6/ride for the cable cars. Thanks Deborah and Alan!

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in San Francisco and wanted to be in the heart of everything. This quaint studio is definitely in the heart of all that we needed. We had planned on renting a car but found that we were able to walk everywhere. We walked to Fisherman's Wharf and to the Ferry Station. The bus stop was a block away and was very convenient. Enough about the location. Deborah was awesome in adjusting our check-in and check-out times due to our flights. She was also great in recommending some of her favorite places to eat. She was a joy to work with and even was nice enough to have Champagne waiting for us when we arrived. The studio was very clean and homey. We will definitely stay at this studio again on our next trip....hopefully next spring. The food is fantastic. We recommend Tadich Grill for their awesome Chiopinno. Le Central and Cafe de la Presse are also great places. We didn't want to leave however we will definitely return!!!!!!! Thanks so much Deborah for a memorable week. Jackie and David

I stayed in this wonderful studio for two months earlier this year. Positioned close to so many of San Francisco's main sites, I was able to walk to most places I wanted to see and then come home and relax in splendour! I have recommended this apartment to friends and family. Deb and Alan have supplied all your needs and information on events, restaurants and theatre at your fingertips.

Fantastic location for this stylish and comfortable studio in lovely San Francisco. Perfect place to stay to explore all parts of the city, great restaurants and bars nearby, plus all the shopping you need. The studio is very nice, and convenient - and friendly owners. We recommend drinks at the Tunnel top bar and Ritz Carlton, and dancing at Top of the Mark nearby. Restaurang Pagolac (a bit further away) serves great Vietnamese food, and the cassoulet at the Central (very close) is tasty. Great beer and nice food as well at the Magnolia in the Haight is another SF place we would like to recommend. We also liked the Cartoon Museum and the Beat Museum, and Chinatown of course.

My wife and i just spent one wonderful week in San Francisco. This great "Pied à Terre" was exactly what we were looking for. Great place ! What you see is what you get, property clean and well maintained, the studio is in a secure building, windows overlooking the backyard, apartment quiet and practically noiseless. The location is excellent. Lots of restaurant close to the apartment. Lots of things to see and do are at walking distance, many beautiful districts; Chinatown, Russian Hill, North Beach, Union Square Shopping !!, Financial District, South Market, Mission District, Fisherman's Wharf. The hills ups & downs can be tough, but good for fitness & exercise. We rented a car for 3 days. We drove on the South/West coast (lots of great beaches overthere), Napa/Sonoma Valleys (Great wines), Muir Woods (Big&Tall trees), Sausalito (Nice and cosy place) and some districts of San Francisco. Parking in San Francisco is a bit difficult during the day, but at night i recommend the Sutter-Stockton Garage. It's a big parking lot one corner from the apartment (use Bush/Stockton entrance/exit for easier access), only $8/night between 5PM & 8AM. Since we did our share of driving & sightseeing during the day, we only needed to park at night, so $8/night was quite a bargain. You're a couple looking for a great time in San Francisco, this place is tough to beat, all you need is there and you're close to everything you need to enjoy your stay. Thanks to Deb and Alan

No me importaría vivir allí. Si vuelvo algún día a S.F. no tengo duda que me quedaré allí.

A charming studio, perfect in every way! The professional and endearing owners thought of details that brought smiles of delight to my face. Everything was easy, clean, efficient and beautiful. The Murphy bed was quick to maneuver and very comfortable, thank god, as I'm picky with beds :) Plenty of blankets and pillows. There are two lucite stools under the desk that double as night stands: light and easy to move to suit your purpose. I stored my luggage, and anything I didn't immediately require, in the space above the bed, up and out of the way, using a sturdy, fold-away step-ladder that's kept in the closet. This apartment also has heat, which came in handy during a particularly damp, cold, record-setting rainy night. Dealing with your garbage and recycling is easy, just down a few stairs. I loved being able to do my own laundry in the Euro washer/dryer combo, nothing like having fresh, clean clothes & bedding on holiday ;) The location is excellent (beware the mighty Nob Hill on your way home at the end of the day) and a wonderful reprieve from the hustle and bustle in the heart of the city. Another thing I reveled in was calling it home, my apartment or the condo.... instead of saying "the hotel." There is an elevator in the building, so you're not lugging bags up flights of stairs (just the first steps at the entrance.) The store next door offers everything you need in terms of groceries, libations, personal, etc. and is run by very friendly staff. Taxis are abundant across the street. Also the two cable car lines are nearby (if you don't want to climb that hill - haha) but not so close that you hear them. Altho petite, the well-appointed space had enough room to host family and friends for a glass of champagne prior to dinner out. A convenient bonus is the free local telephone. I highly recommend this gorgeous, creative space to anyone looking for a true native San Francisco experience, free of the trappings of a hotel. It's ideal for one or two close people. So glad I found this place with such wonderful owners and I look forward to my next visit!

The studio was a wonderful accommodation for a mother and daughter visit to SanFrancisco. We had all the conveniences of the nearby sights, restaurants and grocery store, while also being able to be comfortable and relaxed in what felt like our own space. The furnishings and decor were very well done. I have relatives who have also stayed at the studio and enjoyed it. I will definitely recommend it to others visiting SanFrancisco.

Merci Déborah c'était Great !!!

This studio was fantastic. It was clean and stocked with everything I needed for my week long stay. The location was great. There was a small grocery store right next door and taxis were always available just across the street. The washer/dry worked great. I threw in a load of laundry before I went to bed and it was dry and ready to pack in the morning. I liked it so much I am thinking about getting one for my rental unit in Seattle. Thanks Deborah for a great week.

My husband and I stayed here for almost three weeks in December-January 2009-2010. We absolutely loved it! The apartment is well equipped, stylish, and so comfortable! Plus, what a location! Right in the heart of the city in Nob Hill -- a few minutes walk to Chinatown and Union Square, the transportation hub. And, if you love to walk you can get to the Ferry building, Russian Hill, North Beach, even Telegraph Hill in no time. Most importantly, the owners Deborah and Alan were a delight to get to know. They are so helpful, attentive, friendly, and readily available. I would most enthusiastically recommend this place to anyone looking for an excellent centrally located alternative to pricey hotels, and I will stay here again when I return to San Francisco. Thanks Deborah!

My parents stayed at this studio for 3 weeks in November 2009. It is cozy, comfortable and elegantly furnished. The location is ideal and walking distance to Union Square and downtown. To top everything, the owners are extremely helpful, always available and caring. You can't ask for more. Highly reccomended.

This wasn't my first visit to SF, so I have comparison and this is, by far the best option for those looking to have a place that feels like home rather than the typical generic hotel stay. The description and pictures are a sure match to what the place really is. The apartment is well-equipped for two and even for having a couple of people over for drinks before heading out. The location couldn't have been better, as public transport, shops, mass retail, and restaurants are all nearby. The location is also easy for cab drivers to find. I had a rental this stay and while the parking for me was relatively easy on most nights (I didn't want to pay an arm and leg for garage spaces, which are always readily available), you must be careful to pay attention to the parking signs, as each side of each street has anywhere from 1 to 4 or more rules regarding when you can park in that spot. As long as you mind those rules, and have 10 minutes to spare to find a spot, it's great, and there's always the parking garage option if you get impatient or have something you can't miss. To top it all off, the owners were amazingly friendly and on top of everything for pre-booking to check out. Couldn't have asked for an easier experience. I will definitely make a return when next in SF! and do recommend to anyone over a hotel any day.

This was my first experience using Home Away and I couldn't be happier. Deborah was a huge help during the booking process and was very quick to respond to any questions I asked. The listing provided is very accurate. The apartment was clean and well-equipped with everything we needed during our stay. It really felt like a home away from home and was such a pleasant change from staying in a hotel. My wife and I stayed here for our first trip to SF and not knowing the area before we arrived I don't think that you could pick a better location. We didn't have a rental car and were able to use public transportation to get everywhere. The main cable car line is only a 1/2 block away and the BART is just a quick stroll. It seemed like everything was just around the corner. I was concerned that street noise might be an issue since the apartment is in such a great location but it was pretty quiet at night. For those that need to stay in touch via the internet, if you bring a laptop the apartment has a little desk with an internet connection available. We did some last minute research on restaurants and attractions which proved to be very helpful. We would not hesitate to recommend this to friends and family and the next time we visit SF we will be looking to stay here.
