My husband, Wes, and I live in Northern Wisconsin. We vacationed on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage with a group of friends and later found this property was available to purchase. At one time The Fort Flambeau was a bar and restaurant with an attached living quarters. Since then, we have renovated the cabin to accommodate a large group. This single cabin has two living rooms, two kitchens, and a total of six bedrooms, and it is ideal for your family and friends. The original bar has been restored and offers the ideal place to hang out and play games. We enjoy the fishing, hunting and snowmobiling the area has to offer, and it is our hope that you will come to visit and will enjoy making your memories year after year at the fort.
Why the Owner Chose Mercer
We chose to buy on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage, called 'the crown jewel of Wisconsin', to enjoy nature. This location offers the opportunity to swim, fish, boat and snowmobile, and enjoy breathtaking scenery and nature in its purest form. We love the fishing and boating and the vast waters and scenic islands. The flowage is truly a place of wonder.

My family has been going up to the flowage since the 1930's. Now that my parents have passed we have tried to keep up the tradition and have taken the kids (and now grandkids) to the Fort. It couldn't be more perfect for a Northwoods vacation. Modern sleeping arrangements combined with the classic bar area make it perfect for a large group. Absolutely perfect spot on the flowage and an ideal location to have people spend a week hanging out fishing, swimming, hiking and such. Couldn't recommend it more.

It was our first time staying at the Fort Flambeau and it was everything I hoped for and more. Cabin was very clean and equipped wonderfully. There were plenty of things to do for all ages. Great beach and playground for kids, fishing and bar for grownups. Lake itself is fisherman’s haven; it’s very peaceful and plenty of places to fish. Just be careful swimming around the islands, there are a lot of tree stumps under the water. Overall, completely thrilled with our stay. I would absolutely recommend this place to friends and family, and will return again!! Everything was PERFECT!!!

This place is Realy Cool! The bar, with pool table, fooseball, TV and fish mounts, is a authentic 1940s nothwoods fishing resort tavern. The best part it is a private bar for guest use only. We had a large group and it was very comfortable with the bar being a great gathering place. The whole place is new on the inside with nice furniture and well equipped kitchens. This place is the remodeled main lodge of a resort, The Fort Flambeau, and all the cabins are now privately owned. There is a private beach, boat ramp and dock on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage. Get a map of the flowage since it is so big it is easy to get lost on it. We have stayed in the summer and winter and the winter can be great too. Ice fishing and snowmobiling are good and if the snow is light you can still have great conditions snowmobiling on the flowage. We plan on returning.
