Starboard Pointe is the perfect getaway on Cayman Kai. Just step out your door, and you're standing on your own white sand beach, with clear views of boats at Stingray City and the coral reef. Swim in Cayman's beautiful turquoise water, go for a kayak ride, lie on the beach or relax in the hammock in the shade of our beautiful grape tree.
Inside our home, the kitchen and living areas open to a covered porch where you can eat, read, play, relax, and enjoy the most spectacular sunsets you've ever seen. In fact, every room in our home offers gorgeous views that can't be beat.
If you're feeling adventurous, drive or walk to Rum Point and take a snorkeling, diving or glass bottom boat trip. When you return, enjoy a mango daiquiri and conch fritters (our personal favorites) or any other of Rum Point's refreshments. You may also walk (or drive) to Kaibo Yacht Club for a delicious restaurant meal.
Driving to town is about a 40-minute expedition, but the shopping is diverse and fun, with local craftsman's stalls, tourist shops as well as the upscale Kirk Freeport. You may also enjoy a visit to the Turtle Farm on the West Bay. You will find the whole island to be beautiful, but coming back to Starboard Pointe will be the "ahhhh" at the end of your day.
We welcome you to our home located at the most perfect spot on Grand Cayman, where you are sure to enjoy yourself, no matter what you choose to do. We hope your stay is everything you'd hoped it to be and more. Once you've stayed at Starboard Pointe, you'll not want to go anywhere else.

I have spent many wonderful weeks in this fantastic waterfront Starboard Point house going back 20 years. It is the ultimate Cayman destination for rest and relaxation. The house sits on a west facing lagoon of about 20 - 24 other homes, most of which are privately owned and usually empty. There may be only 5 - 10 other families there at any one time. The sunsets are spectacular from the front of the house, which is only 40' from the water, while reclining on a chaise lounge. The cove is part of the Cayman Kai property, which is at the very end of the island road about 1 mile past Rum Point, a charming, local, native picnic, eating and drinking spot. Three of the four spacious bedrooms have waterfront (and sunset) views, two of which have a balcony or porch. The kitchen is superb by island standards and has just been completely redone. Our first stop upon arrival is to load up with groceries as we all like to cook and there are great grocery stores on Grand Cayman. One word of advice - all alcohol is very expensive on the island, so be sure to bring in the legal limit - 1 liter of rum, vodka, etc. per person or 4 liters of wine. (the blender works very well, but the ice maker may not be able to keep up if everyone is drinking frozen rum concoctions). All the floors are tiled, so there is no problem coming and going with wet feet. The beds are very comfortable, but the blender contributes to your relaxation. Even though you are the almost an hour from the bright lights of Seven Mile Beach, there are several good restaurants nearby; three within walking distance. Here again, absolutely everything on the island is imported, so eating out is expensive. Our favorite meal is a local spot on the water about 8 - 10 minutes east of the house called The Edge. Grate local seafood; the wine list is limited, so you might want to bring your own. There is a great public beach 1 - 2 miles east of the house which has very interesting snorkeling around large coral heads; good swimmers can also swim out to the reef, which circles the island and is outstanding snorkeling or diving. As we are now in our mid to late sixties, we spent most of our time on the large screen porch playing bridge or poker, playing the guitar and singing while enjoying a frozen rum punch. The whole house is clean and spotless; you will feel right at home. Don't miss spending time in the hammock hanging from 2 sea grape trees over the water......you will never want to leave.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: You touched on all the things we, too, love about Starboard Pointe. Thank you for your review. We hope you'll keep coming back!

This is our second time coming to Grand Cayman. We went the year before during Thanksgiving break and stayed at a hotel along the 7 mile beach. We decided to rent a house for a week during Feb break of this year to have some private space for us. We wanted a house that was right on the beach, very family friendly and a good space for us to enjoy our vacation. This house definitely fit that bill. We hired a private chef one night and had them cooked us a traditional Caribbean meal. The whole family enjoyed it. Overall, the kids had a blast and so did the adults. Kids could just go out and play on the beach while my husband and I got to hang on the sun porch and watch them play. Grand Cayman had a beautiful sunset and we watched them almost every night having a glass of wine. If you are thinking of renting in Cayman Kai, this is a very nice home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your very kind review of our home on Grand Cayman. We are so happy to know you enjoyed yourselves and felt comfortable there. We hope you'll come back.

Having stayed at Starboard Point I can tell you it is the epitome of Caribbean life style and relaxation. Whether you are sipping your first cup of morining "joe" or drinking a cocktail at sunset you are at the waters edge. This location on the cove is perfect for any water activities and people of all ages. The accomadations and maintainence were excellent. The photo's accurately represent the house and it's cleanleness. If you desire to go either grocery or souviner shopping you are only a short drive (less than a hour) away from both. There are even a couple of local restaurants that are within walking distance. Not all the places we have traveled end up on our "repeat" list but Starboard Point is already there. I would reccommend this house to families of all sizes and ages.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Owner info
About the owner: Starboard Pointe is a privately-owned home, shared by friends and family. We live in the United States in Virginia and North Carolina. The land was originally purchased in 1986 and the home was built by a family member of one of our owners in 1987. We take pride in our home, and we want our guests to love it as much as we do.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
There is just something magical about being at Starboard Pointe. Cayman Kai is known to be the most prestigious spot on the island, and once there, it is easy to understand why this is so. Our home is nestled in a beautiful, private cove where we enjoy wonderful breezes, fabulous views and our western view provides us with splendid sunsets every evening. Waking up to the sound of doves cooing and water splashing sets the mood for the day, and sinking into "island time" is easy, and any troubles simply vanish. It is pure relaxation at its best.
