My fiance and I loved our stay here (10 days) and would absolutely choose to stay at this apartment again. Appeared exactly as advertized- bright, clean and fresh. We loved that there was a small kitchen (we used the fridge, but never tried the stove top) and that we were able to do a small load of laundry as needed. Wifi and internet-tv were welcome amenities too. It IS up six flights of stairs (no elevator), but that was clear in the description- and absolutely WORTH it for the LOCATION. Very short walk to metro, the bank of the Seine (right across from the Louvre), the Latin Quarter, Jardin du Luxemborg... everything! We walked to most things, only taking metro home when tired at the end of the day. The owner was helpful and prompt in arranging the rental agreement, and meeting with us at the beginning and end of our stay. She even reviewed some local restaurants and sights with us and left a binder of business cards in case we were at a loss for inspiration. Very thorough. If you stay on blvd St. Germain- don't miss the covered arcade (and "La Jacobine" restaurant), and gelato shops off of Rue Seine. We ended up visiting "Snack Time" (by the Odeon metro) for take out paninis more than once. Hokey name, but nice option for a dinner in, with a bottle of wine from the grocery store, when you are exhausted from roaming Paris all day! Also, its a bit of a walk, but hit up "Restaurant Voltaire" for lunch and people watching along the Seine after a morning at Musee d'Orsay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

What a wonderful apartment in the perfect location! Yes, there are many stairs, but it is worth the climb. The apartment is clean, airy and has everything you need. My daughter and I would watch the Eiffel Tower "sparkle" each evening thru the window...gorgeous. Most tourist sites are an easy walk from the apartment plus there are metro lines very close by. The neighborhood is clean and very safe...we two women felt very comfortable walking around at any time. Lots of great cafes nearby, it feels like a neighborhood, not a tourist trap. Anne-Marie was so very helpful and showed us around the area. I will return, this time with my husband.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful stay at this apartment in the 6th. It was the absolute perfect location for anyone looking to come to Paris. The neighborhood is incredibley charming and exactly what one looks for when trying to experience the Parisian lifestyle. There were lots of cafes and restaurants right out our door, and Anne-Marie was kind enough to show us some of her favorites. There always seemed to be people in the cafes and enjoying themselves, The apartment itself was very charming and exactly what we needed. It was clean and gave us a good amount of space with the bedroom and living room. Anne-Marie was a great host and really made our stay memorable. The views from the apartment are spectacular. Thank you again, Anne-Marie, for our wonderful stay! We hope to be back very soon!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

The description of this property is everything listed and more. It is charming, cozy, and very clean. One can pretend to be a resident in this well appointed pied-à-terre. There is a very Parisian chair by the window that is perfect for sipping your morning cafe. The location is in our favorite area, which offers great restaurants and shopping practically at doorstep. The Landlady is charming and caring hostess who takes the time to walk you around the area, pointing out her favorite stores. The size of the apartment is much larger than a hotel room, and it is also very quiet.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This is a sweet, clean, light-filled apartment with a spacious sitting area. The landlady Anne Marie is exceptionally nice and helpful and really went out of her way to make this a great experience for us. She even gave us champagne and booked our anniversary dinner at a special landmark restaurant nearby. She was highly responsive to all our inquiries before and during our stay. We couldn’t imagine a better location: Right in the heart of St. Germaine with only a five-minute walk to two Metro stops and ten minutes or less to the Seine. It felt very safe and friendly and we found loads of excellent restaurants, bistros and cafes extremely close by. Grocery shopping was a breeze- a large grocer just a minute’s walk from our front door. Travelers should be aware that it's possible to prepare meals here, but the kitchenette is small and not ideal for serious cooking. However, it was absolutely perfect for our needs, as we just wanted a place to store and prepare simple breakfast foods, make our toast and morning coffee, and stash our wines and delicious afternoon snacks, such as artisan cheese, olives, and breads from the local vendors. Honestly, who wants to cook lots of meals on vacation in Paris? I would suggest to Anne-Marie that she upgrade the shower so it hangs with an overhead attachment. The way it is now you have to hold the showerhead in one hand while you wash/rinse your hair with the other. Not a big deal, but sort of awkward. Overall, a great price for a lovely apartment and a perfect location.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind review, Gail! I have noted your remark about the shower overhead hanging device; actually, there used to be one, but I found it so ugly I got rid of it; I now realize it could have some usefulness...Since the bathroom is scheduled for refurbishment end of January, I am going to try and find something convenient AND nice to look at... Thank you again for your time and best wishes. Anne-Marie

I had a great week long stay at this apartment. Awesome location - easy walking distance to Metro and RER stations; and lots of entertainment, shops, and restaurants nearby. If the weather is nice it is a relaxing 20 minute walk to such attractions as the Louvre and the Musee D' Orsay (or you can grab a quick Metro ride and also be there in minutes). I also loved the Luxembourg Gardens for a nice walk or run to get some exercise. The apartment was clean and well equipped. The free internet phone is a nice bonus. The owner, Anne-marie was very helpful and incredibly accommodating. She provided a very nice tour of the surrounding area and had lots of suggestions with respect to shopping, sightseeing, and restaurants. All in all, a great vacation experience!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My husband and I had a fantastic stay in this apartment in June 2012. The location is absolutely amazing. A fantastic bakery, a butcher, and a grocery store are all VERY close. We ended up buying fresh baguette, sausage, cheese and wine for one meal a day. There are a lot of shops, restaurants, and cafes are in the area and it is a short walk to the Seine. We walked absolutely everywhere except the Eiffel tower, which was easy to get to with the metro. There is quite a vibrant night life in the area, so with windows open things often stayed noisy outside until late (especially on one night in particular when there was a music festival going on), but it gave us an excuse to sleep in and help avoid jet lag on the way home. :) The apartment itself is very quaint, clean, and exactly as shown in the pictures. Everything we needed was there (even an umbrella for rainy days, hair dryer, a fully equipped kitchen, transportation pamphlets, and a local map). The free calling to Canada was a big plus and let us easily keep in touch with our family at home. The wifi connection was excellent and useful for planning outings. Although the description states that the apartment has air conditioning, I think this might mean something different in Europe. As far as I could tell (I might be wrong), there was no specific way to cool or dehumidify the apartment, but there were lots of heaters if it were to get chilly. Anne-Marie kindly brought us a floor fan and we were able to get a good cross-breeze, so warmth was not much of an issue. As mentioned in other reviews, there are a lot of steps to get up to the apartment. I was glad I didn't pack a larger, heavier suitcase for that first trip up after a trans-Atlantic flight! We did get used to them, however, and quickly figured out that we needed to plan ahead what we needed/wanted to do if we were heading down! Anne-Marie was a fantastic host. She provided us with a lot of useful information, gave us a tour of the local area, and was easily available and responsive if we needed anything. She came at the crack of 8am with a bad headache to get us on our way back to Canada. Thanks, Anne-Marie for making our stay in Paris such a lovely experience. I hope we'll be back someday.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind review. You are absolutely right about the air conditioning, a more accurate description would be « wind tower »( I have just bought a new designer wind tower by Dyson, the old floor fan is kept in the basement, as a back-up..)So I have deleted the mention “air conditioning” in the description, just to avoid any cultural misunderstanding…… I am glad you enjoyed your stay and I’ll be happy to welcome you back. Thanks again for your time! Best regards Anne-Marie

My husband and I stayed here for the first five nights of our honeymoon in France and it was great! Lucky for us, Anne-Marie speaks great English. She was very responsive and helpful as we were confirming our travel plans. The apartment is small but has everything you need - it was very clean, has a great view and is in very fun, energetic neighborhood. Having the kitchen was great, and the cabinets were well stocked with everything you'd need to cook meals- cookware, plates, bowls, utensils, etc. The only issue we had with the kitchen was that the fridge was broken and some of our purchased food went bad but that really just meant we had to eat our cheese more quickly and that's not really a problem. :) There were a lot of stairs to climb but we got used to it. Anne-Marie provided maps, umbrellas, restaurant and grocery store recommendations and also offered a walking tour of the neighborhood. All is all it was great and we would definitely stay there again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind review! I am really glad you enjoyed your honeymoon stay in Paris and I do apologize for the fridge failure. As you know, the previous guests had just checked out earlier in the morning, a few hours before your arrival and it was only a few minutes before you moved in that I realized the freezer had turned into a block of ice. I panicked a bit and had the not-so-clever idea of defrosting it with a knife, probably giving it the fatal blow… It has been replaced, of course (just in time for the following guests…) and upgraded: the new one has a separate deep-freeze compartment. Thanks again for your kindness and best wishes.

My wife and I stayed here for 10 nights, and had a wonderful time. Anne-Marie is amazing. She was always very quick to respond to emails before we arrived, and she made herself accessible and available during our stay. Anne-Marie took the time to give us a great tour of the neighbourhood when we arrived, pointing out some of the best restaurants, chocolate shops, bakeries, and attractions, in addition to making sure we knew where we could find the grocery store, Metro, and wine store. The location is perfect. My wife and I were able to walk to many major attractions. The apartment itself is beautiful and very comfortable. Anne-Marie has done a wonderful job decorating the apartment. The kitchen is quite small but has everything you need to make basic meals (including a coffee maker and microwave). The apartment itself is of quite a good size. The wifi and cable both work very well, and it was very helpful to have both the landline and a Paris mobile. The view of the Paris rooftops from the apartment is outstanding, and is well worth the six flights of stairs. We would love to stay here again, and would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My husband and I stayed at this apt from the end of March into April in 2011, and overall it was just a wonderful experience. The location is just perfect, and having a supermarket literally around the corner made things even more convenient. There are a lot of stairs to climb, but it's really not a big deal, except for that first day when you're carrying up all of your luggage! Quiet building, 2 metro stops very nearby, and tons of restaurants and cafes right in the neighborhood. Highly recommend the bakery Gerard Mulot which is just a few blocks away.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you very much for your kind(if belated) review; I wasn't yet the owner/manager of the apartment at the time of your stay last year; the interior design has changed( for the better ,I hope)but your comments are quite to the point: the 6 flights of stairs are still there and so are the supermarket and the metro stations....I'll be happy to wecome you back in Paris. Thank you for your time and best wishes for the New Year. Anne-Marie

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: As a translator , I spent many years in big cities abroad, living in short-term furnished rentals. I bought this apartment in September 2011 and have tried to make it as pleasant and relaxing as possible for someone away from home. My own apartment is in the neighborhood, rue Gay-Lussac, on the other side of Luxembourg Garden.
Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 6:
You just have everything at your doorstep:an open-air traditional market, a supermarket, a pharmacy, restaurants and cafés, elegant and trendy shops, cinemas, the River Seine at one end of the street, Luxembourg garden at the other end, concerts in small churches, beautiful historical monuments and buildings everywhere, half a dozen different buses, 2 metro stations - and RER for easy access to airport.
I also have a special feeling for this area since I was lucky enough to live in the neighborhood when I was a student.
Back then, I had a room (but with no view ! ) between Sorbonne and Odeon; I Ioved to go to art-house cinemas and buy food at the open-air Buci market , which has now sprawled to the foot of the building rue de Seine.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Have a drink on the balcony ( or on the sofa in winter!) while watching the sunset against the steeple of Saint-Germain des Prés church and the laser light at the top of the Eiffel Tower
