Clean contemporary comfortable cabin in Strawberry / Pinecrest, California. Strawberry and Pinecrest are in the High Sierra, geographically halfway between Yosemite and Lake Tahoe and fully enclosed by forest. The cabin is three miles beyond the Lair of the Bear and six miles before the winter closure on Highway 108.

Walk to the river, where trout are abundant. Pinecrest Lake is only minutes away with boating, fishing and swimming. In the winter, you’ll find the cabin’s two-car garage, road plowing service, and covered decks very handy and Dodge Ridge Ski Resort is only minutes away.

Strawberry is a world away from the San Francisco Bay Area, even though it is only a two and a half or three hour drive up Highway 108. Smell the brisk pine forest as you drive into the cooler mountain air at the 5400 foot elevation level. Fall asleep listening to the river below. Deep in the forest and adjacent to the Emigrant Wilderness Area, Strawberry creates a setting for uninterrupted quality family time.

This is a very comfortable, four-season, three bedroom, two bath cabin. The cabin gives a special feeling because it was designed for maximum exposure to the light, contains double pane glass and passive heating, interior is accented with hand-picked local rock and is paneled throughout with hand-selected heart redwood.

Please note, we ask that you care for our home, as our primary intent is to keep it clean and vibrant. As such, the property manager will act responsibly in renting and you must agree to not smoke or bring pets inside.

(Sleeping arrangements are a queen in master bedroom, two twins plus trundle in second bedroom, and pull-out queen size couch in third bedroom.)

Summer: Hiking into the forest, Fishing in the river, Swimming or Boating in the lake, Biking the backroads, Participating in the programs at Pinecrest, i.e. outdoor theater, singing, story telling, crafts and nature walks. Winter: Downhill Skiing at Dodge Ridge, Cross Country Skiing everywhere, Snowmobiling at the Hwy 108 Winter Closure, Sledding out the back door! Spring & Fall: Quiet, it is very quiet, as neither the skiers nor the out-of-school children are present. The forest and the cabin are very rejuvinating. Other: Fishing, Hunting, Wildlife Viewing, Horseback Riding, Sightseeing (Yosemite is about an hour one way and Sonora Pass an hour the other.)
