Well off the beaten path, our home offers a private and intimate experience connecting with the wonders of the rainforest. Built on a ridge with mountains behind, the home looks over the canopy of our private wildlife reserve project and out to the ocean beyond. The home's focus is open-air living and features both outdoor dining and living areas, as well as an outdoor, screened-in bedroom - a favorite of many guests. With three other bedrooms and two full baths, the home sleeps seven in beds, with foam mattresses for additional guests as needed. The pool, which adjoins the master bedroom patio, has a walkway cantilevered over the rainforest.
A true nature lover's paradise, the Rainforest Preserve Lodge and the surrounding Preserve offer so many ways to encounter and experience a wide variety of wildlife - watching toucans and other birds from the balcony, waking to marauding coatimundis in the trees or monkeys passing by. You never know what you'll see next. Our land is in the midst of the "Path of the Tapir" biological corridor. We are developing a system of trails through the Preserve to enhance the opportunities to view wildlife and witness the exceptional natural beauty of the property. A morning walk with our caretaker (and nature guide extraordinaire!) to Hummingbird Falls or into the mountains is always a magical learning experience.
Our sunset platform, which overlooks 40 miles of coastline, is a great place to enjoy a picnic supper at sunset and look for whales below. The seven or eight beaches within a half-hour up and down the coast each offer a different ocean experience. Swimming, surfing, snorkeling, kayaking to sea caves, boating, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, rappelling down waterfalls or just relaxing are all available close by. Whatever level of adventure you enjoy is waiting for you.
So come and relax in the pool and watch the rainforest unfold in front of you, or explore the many areas of Rainforest Preserve, Dominical.

Owner Description
The owners, Kaye and Guruatma, and Dalip purchased our land in 2001 to save the parcel from development, and put it aside permanently as a reserve. Since that time we have been enhancing the habitat by planting fruits and food for the amimals, and creating trails thru the forest. Our retreat center on the property is almost complete, and will host yoga retreats as well as other small group gatherings. We have all been involved with several groups for over 30 years, and to continue that community spirit with the focus of caretaking such a wonderful piece of property is certainly a joyful experience. We are grateful when others who share the same energy are able to share in the ever evolving adventure.

Paradise in the Rainforest

We just returned from the trip of a lifetime to Costa Rica and the highpoint was having Rainforest Lodge as our base. Each morning we awoke early to see what wildlife might visit us - we could consistently count on the howler monkeys and toucans. The entertainment provided by marauding capuchin monkeys and Iggy the resident iguana was better than the Dominical nightlife. A hike to and swim at Hummingbird Falls was enchanting. The "treehouse" room is the best. Make sure you also check out the sunset platform. Both Manuel Antonio and Marina Ballena Parks were must-sees, as was Hacienda Baru for the zip line tour. The owners leave a great notebook of tips and suggestions. The road to the house is an adventure not for the faint of heart, but the views and experiences make it well worth the trip.

I have been to Costa Rica many times, and I haven't found a setting more beautiful than this. Amazingly private with beautiful jungle and ocean views. I could (and did!) sit on the porch watching the birds and monkeys all day. Nature trail to the Rainforest Presreve waterfall is a must. If you are looking for a great beach, try domincal for surfing or dominicalito for swimming. Both are only a 5 minute drive. I will be back!
