  The cottage was perfect for our needs. We really enjoyed our stay there. Mary is a sweetheart and really made sure that we had everything that we needed. We'll plan on staying there again on our next trip out that way.

  My wife and I recently booked this cottage in Penngrove for a trip up to wine country. I looked through so many properties in our price range, and of the few we liked, this one seemed to really fit the bill. My conversations with the owner on the phone were very easy, she was straightforward, pleasant, and responsive. Booking the place was very easy. When we arrived, she was there to greet us and the cottage was exactly what we had assumed from the description. We were pleased with the level of quality of the cottage both inside and out. The paint, trim, and kitchen features all have been recently updated, and the kitchen had more than we could ask for as far as cooking staples and tools. Also, the wi-fi was very nice to have. The owner was extremely courteous. One of our concerns (why we have not used vrbo.com very much) with this type of property is the privacy, as well as feeling like you are just sleeping in a strangers house. Much to our relief, this cottage does not convey that feeling whatsoever. While the property does have another home on it, the orientation and location of the cottage means you virtually cannot tell. She even made a point to assure us that our privacy was one of her main concerns, and she would not be jeopardizing that. This place is very clean and neat, with a few nice little details you can tell come from the owner. The most obvious is the outside garden, which is beautiful and peaceful. You can tell she cares by the quality of the home and her obvious desire to keep her renters as happy as possible. Penngrove is near Petaluma and the Sonoma/Napa area is about 35 minutes the other direction. We ate dinner at an amazing restaurant in Petaluma our first night (arrival), and then spent the day in Napa and Sonoma the following day. After the heat and the wine, it was nice to come back to the secluded cottage to relax and talk. There is a great organic market in Cotati, where I got all of the fixings for a home cooked breakfast our final morning...all of these and many more points are outlined in her "guide" that she leaves there for you. Overall, this is a great little place to stay, and I cannot really think of anything negative to report. Just yesterday we received a card in the mail from her wishing us well and thanking us for staying.

  We had a great time in this little cottage. Dog friendly and people friendly too. A perfect location near tons of small local shops and restaurants. Mary, our guide and governess was lovely and so very helpful. The beds were comfortable and all the amenity's were wonderful as well. The location near the freeway but far enough away that noise was never a problem but getting pretty much everywhere in this part of northern California was never a problem, The Garden off the deck was wonderful and tranquil. I would say definitely book this cottage if you are interested in a great solid location near beaches and wine country.

  Lovely cottage tucked away in a picturesque location. Well appointed kitchen. 2 comfortable bedrooms. Mary is extremely helpful in making suggestions and helping you plan day trips. Would happily stay there again.

  We had a great weekend getaway in Penngrove thanks to Mary and her hospitality. The updates she made to the property made it perfect for our stay. She even had a playpen with bedding and a high chair for us to use. It had everything we needed and more. She even gave our kids crayons to play with so that I could unload the car. It was close to everything that we needed and it was beyond relaxing having our kids playing in the garden while we sat and drank coffee. Pretty perfect! I would recommend this cottage to anyone; especially those with little kids!

  What a charming cottage! We loved the location, as it was near everything! The cottage was well outfitted with everything we needed. It was wonderful to have such a great home away from home, while on vacation. The owner was wonderful and extreamly helpful with recommendations of what to see and do and made our stay even more confortable. The cottage was up to date and the two bedrooms were a plus!!! Petaluma and Cotati are great nearby towns with great restaurants and local flavor. We will certainly be back!

  My family and I arrived mid afternoon to view a rather cosy cottage type atmoshere in a small gaden plot. We had no trouble in parking the car in a secure off road area and had a 20 foot walk to the bungalow. The unit had everthing required for a comfortable stay and Mary (the owner) was always close at hand to answer any of our queries and point us in the right direction. The location was great in that it was central to most of the amenities and though we only stayed for 5 days there was plenty to do in the surrounding area. Trips to the winelands, redwood forests and beaches were relatively close at hand with the main north/south highway only a mile or so away. An enjoyable stay all round for my wife and I and our two grown up daughters

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+.

  My husband, one year old son and I loved our stay at Penngrove Cottage. The house was just what we were looking for... cozy, secluded in nature (but very convenient to amenities and driving), 2 bedrooms, with a patio and garden. The house's french doors open onto a beautiful patio and garden that my son loved to wander around, and Mary let us know we were welcome to do this... she is a fantastic and very accommodating hostess that made us feel very at home. Also, there are new laundry facilities in a cabin next to the cottage, which was very convenient to use during our stay... this allowed us to travel lightly, even with a one year old! My family hopes to return to the area–if we do, we will certainly return to Penngrove Cottage, and I would certainly recommend the cottage to friends who plan to travel to Sonoma County in the future.

  We stayed at Penngrove Cottage while I was on a course and my husband was enjoying the opportunity to relax and explore this beautiful area of California. The cottage is well maintained and was exactly like the photos and description. There is a lovely airy living space (lounge, dining area & kitchen) and as there were only 2 of us we had the choice of 2 bedrooms. Although the property is near the main road we weren't disturbed at all. The deck was a wonderful place to sit and relax both at breakfast time and in the evening - it overlooks a lovely, rambling garden and then a view of hills beyond. The owner is a lovely lady who struck the right balance between leaving us alone and being available to answer questions - she is very knowledgeable about the area and gave great recommendations of both places to go and visit and places to eat. The owner called us her treasured guests and that is exactly how we felt - there was nothing more that she could have done to make out stay more pleasurable. We will certainly stay here again.
