Puu Poa condo description
Our Oceanfront, Mountain and Sunset view is THE most famous on all of Kaua'i!!!
If you are looking for the most beautiful, romantic place in the world this may be it! This is one of the few Puu Poa condominium units with the iconic 'Bali Hai' view. Our condo sits on the edge of a bluff, with full unobstructed white water ocean and mountain views that are too beautiful to believe.
The condo (# 311) faces due west, so spectacular sunsets over the Pacific Ocean are the norm. The condo itself is huge, over 1800 square feet of interior living space, with its own additional 22 foot by 18 foot outdoor lanai. There is also a huge enclosed sunroom that actually allows you to enjoy any tropical showers. It is custom decorated in a retro Hawaiian style with many original artist's touches, beautiful tile and granite throughout. There is more than ample furniture to relax and nap in different areas. The condo has been extensively renovated, most recently in the fall 2011.
Puu Poa is THE premier luxury/view condo on the North Shore of Kauai, in Princeville. The newly refurbished St. Regis Hotel is just yards from the condo and all their restaurants (one is a Jean Georges Vongerichten restaurant) and their beach are available to our tenants. There is also a winding path to the unbelievably picturesque Hideaways Beach below our bluff, where possibly the finest coral reef for snorkling can be found.
The fabulous Makai Golf Course, which is 27 holes, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. is steps from the door. The famous Prince Golf Course, 18 holes, is minutes away. Tennis is available for free onsite.
Rent this spectacular luxury condo for the vacation of your dreams. You will not be disappointed!

Location & View
Totally unobstructed view of the surf, including surfers! We are much closer than the pictures show, enabling us to see turtles when the sea is calm and feel the spray when the surf is up. Sunset is unbelievable as the water looks like tahitian pearls in the relecting light. We can see whales from the lanai and sit at a height that lets us watch the 'sets' of waves roll in. It is hypnotic!...moreless
We have the best Kauai view of Mt. Makana, called 'Bali Hai' as seen in the Movie, South Pacific. We can watch the clouds drift into the valleys of the Coast (Na Pali) mountains, looking too beautiful to be real, sometimes we feel like it must be a painted backdrop!!...moreless

Great Location, but that is all
Great Location, but that is all
We stayed in this condo for 1 week in early Sept. The location was wonderful. Great views. Kitchen and laundry were very nice. However there were so many small problems that we did not really love it and would not stay there again. 3 of the fans were broken, 2 were just on all the time and could not be changed and the other one, at some point, would not turn on at all. This was a serious problem as it was also the light in the 2nd bedroom. The sliding glass doors in the living room would not close, so we had to leave our things there and hope no one would come in from one of the condos on either side. The front door had to be open all the time so there would be cross ventilation as the condo does not have AC. The front door opener was broken so there was a 2X4 that was used to keep it open. The TV in the master bedroom did not work. The cable box was very old and had just died at some point. We did contact the property manager and the owner's son in regards to all these problems, but there was really no attempt to solve any of them. The property manager did try to close the glass sliding doors, but could not do it. The owners son said he would get a new cable box, but never came by to pick up the broken one. The condo has some very nice features, but we were underwhelmed by the problems. We have never has so many problems and so little attention paid to them is all the times we have rented condos in the Islands. I would say, leave this one alone as there are so many to choose from.

Owner response: Wow, of 54 reviews this is the only one that is not 5 stars! I don't know what to say. The reviewer tried to cancel at the last minute, so perhaps she arrived with a negative attitude, which is hard to understand on Kaua'i. We were told that only 2 people were renting, so I don't understand the "problem" with the guest bedroom. The glass door had apparently been off the track, which was easily fixed. Remote controls for fans have a problem on Kaua'i and particularly at our condo because it is so close to the ocean, the salt air gums them up. Again, easily fixed. We tell every renter that there is no AC, almost none of the Pu'u Po'a condos have AC, the Board does not ALLOW them. The trades blow and it is the tropics. Most restaurants and beach houses do not have AC either. As for someone coming in the lanai to take their items, we are on the thrid floor, one would haveto be a cat burglar to climb in! We also provide a safe for guests. Referring to our custom, new, designer kitchen with Electrolux induction range and granite everywhere as "nice" is insulting. We work very hard to make our condo the best place possible to stay, just look at the pictures and read what the other 53 reviewers have said. Some people would not be satisfied anywhere.
Our stay here was so awesome. The condo was more beautiful than the pictures (and the pictures are great!), and the views are absolutely amazing! The condo was beautiful inside and out, great communication with the owner beforehand. Loved hanging out on the lanai and watching the sun set. Also loved sitting out there in the morning. Hideaway Beach was beautiful, and so close to condo (very treacherous trail down to it though). North Side of island was so beautiful, and we loved having a shorter drive to Kee Beach (great snorkeling), and hiking the Napali Coast trail. Really didn't want to leave! Thanks for making our 25th anniversary so great. Would highly, highly recommend this condo. Absolutely perfect!

Fabulous Stay - Highly Recommend it!
Fabulous Stay - Highly Recommend it!
Fabulous Condo - Everything you could need including some outdoor gear (snorkels, boggie board, water shoes, beach mats and chairs, even a backpack) in the cupboard. BBQ's on the Lanai were a dream - the boys were v envious of the actual machine, whilst us girls swooned over the view and sunsets. Coffee on the Lanai in the mornings was just as magical. The snorkelling on Hideaways was great - second only to that at Tunnels just down the road... Copious activities to do including surfing, Standup Paddle Boarding, Kayaking, Snorkelling, diving, hiking, waterfalls, canyons, helicopters, a new gorgeous beach everyday! Birds everywhere, sea turtles whilst snorkelling, Monk seals sunning on the beach, we even saw a 3ft reef shark at Tunnels! You need a car there unless you really are only planning on lying on a beach - then the beautiful Hideaways is on your door step. The trail down to the beach really is manageable for most people as long as you're not carrying too much gear. Small children and elderly will struggle though... We can see why many of the guests are "returners", falling asleep and wakening to the sounds of the Ocean was absolute heaven. If you can afford it, just go!! We're already scheming to come back...:)

The condo looked gorgeous in the pictures, so we had very high expectations and we were not disappointed. It was perfect for my wife and I along with our 2 grown children. We especially loved the awesome kitchen and lanai. We highly recommend this beautiful condo - the sunset views every night are spectacular! We loved Hideaways Beach, paddling/hiking to Secret Falls, Hiking along the Napali Coast, visiting Waimea Canyon, and Sailing along the Napali Coast out of Port Allen. We also visited Hanalei and Hanalei Bay often. Fun time at Tahiti Nui!

Wonderful stay, Great fun!
Wonderful stay, Great fun!
We wanted to write a review to let others know how much we appreciated staying at Mark and Lynn's lovely home (condo) in Kauai. It was the first time to the island and we enjoyed a wonderful family vacation over the kids’ winter break. We love to cook and eat meals together, so we really enjoyed the newly renovated kitchen with its open floor plan, marble countertops, beautiful cabinets and lighting, stainless steel appliances, and neat magnetic stovetop. We found the condo difficult to leave behind each day and looked forward to returning after the day’s adventures to wash off in the walk-in shower, sit and read in the snuggly sitting area and to go to sleep on the soft mattresses listening to the sound of the ocean waves, sea breeze and raindrops outside. While we were there, we took a helicopter ride, catamaran ride, zip lined, snorkeled at Hideaways Beach right below the condo (snorkeling here is a must-do and well worth the short hike down the slippery trail to the bottom, an adventure in itself) and the beach in front of the St Regis (Princeville) Hotel (also a short walk from the condo and wonderful time), had tacos in Hanalei, and drove to Poi'pou in the south shore through the eucalyptus trees. We had a wonderful time and would have loved to stay longer! Wonderful stay, Great fun.

One of the most beautiful vacation spots we have ever stayed. Highly recommend. A view like none other. The condo is well appointed and we felt very comfortable. We experienced an unforgettable vacation here. When we opened the door, our first words were "Wow!" The view is amazing.

One word: Lanai -- What an amazing place to say Aloha to the beginning and end of each day. Here is one place where "Just another day in Paradise" has true meaning!

My husband, 15-yr-old son, and I spent 9 WONDERFUL days over spring break (our 2nd time at the condo, son's 1st). It feels like another world on the North Shore, and we had a great time! The accommodations are very homey...from the comfy beds, full kitchen, linens/towels, and grill on the lanai. The view is the most beautiful place on earth and the condo a great place to call "home" during vacation (which we will no doubt return to again!). Mahalo for sharing your piece of Kauaian paradise and for being so accommodating! All the best!

We stayed at #311 for 5 days in the beginning of May. This was the end of a 3 week trip for us, and we have been to the northshore 2 times before. The location is magic... in a word. The sound of the surf is memorizing and the view is perfect. Every day we rushed to be 'home' for sunset - just absolutely spectacular. The condo is nicely furnished - but the locale and view is stellar.
