Location: Pepeekeo, Hilo District, Big Island, Hawaii, USA (Only 8 Miles North of Hilo)
Accommodations: Estate, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)
Relax and enjoy the peaceful tranquility that encompasses this island oasis located only 8 miles north of Hilo. Surrounded by 3,000 acres of agricultural land, mostly all of which is grassland for cattle now, you seem all alone in this most magical place. The sounds of the waterfall, the birds, and the gentle breezes that carry the sweet scented flowers will provide you with an unforgettable island experience.
Beautiful, breathtaking views of the ocean and Hilo Bay await you. The sunrises from the lanais are quite spectacular. If you are here during a full moon, this is a most beautiful place to experience the Hamakua coastline at night. From the open deck between the main house and the gazebo you can watch the moon rise from the ocean, see shooting stars, and we have been very fortunate to see many “moon bows”, a rare occurrence of a rainbow at night. The views of Mauna Kea are spectacular and breathtaking. Many photo opportunities await you. During the winter months the whales can be seen frolicking in the ocean, with snow capped mountains as the background.
Centrally located to all the Eastside attractions; Old Town Hilo is just 10 minutes away, where you will experience the feeling of Hilo of “days gone by”, as well as a new mixture of wonderful creations of local artists, craftsmen, and health-minded restaurants serving local food as well as delights from many different cultures. A large, and colorful “open market” on Wednesdays and Saturdays highlights the locally grown food, flowers, and handmade crafts. Hilo has many attractions for the visitor, far too many to list, and the Hamakua Coast area extends north from Hilo 40 miles to Honokaa, with many beautiful and interesting sights along the way; the Tropical Botanical Gardens at Onomea Bay, Akaka Falls, Honokaa town, and, Waipio Valley, just to mention a few. The Volcano National Park is to the south approximately one hours drive. This is the Big Island’s number one attraction and is a “once in a lifetime experience”. If the experience is a bit unnerving, be sure to check out the Volcano Winery, just minutes past Volcano National Park.
This lovely island style home is the center piece to the six acre Lanikohonua estate, where organic coffee, a large variety of fruits, berries, vegetables, flowers, and gourds are grown . The home, approximately 3,600 square feet, is a two story structure, with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen, living room, dining area, pantry with laundry, and a computer area upstairs. The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, convection oven, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator-freezer, with black granite countertop and cherry cabinets. A large flat screen TV is in the living room, with DVD player. Wireless high-speed internet provided by Hawaii Broadband. The downstairs has a large bedroom and bath with a walk-in shower, internet terminal and private lanai area which has the same spectacular ocean views as the upstairs. Next to the huge open deck and Gazebo area with views in all directions, and overlooking the 2 natural waterfalls that are on the property.
Lanikohonua rental is $250/night, with a 3 day minimum stay. Planning well in advance is advised. Extended stay discounts are available. Hawaii State Tax, deposit, and cleaning fees are applicable. For inquiries, photos, or additional information please e-mail me.
