This beautiful property surpassed all of our expectations. The online photos only begin to do it justice. The furnishings were meticulous, the rooms were very spacious and the views were breathtaking. We had a wonderful family vacation on VG and would definitely stay at Amaratas again. The staff was very attentive, and the kitchen and bath rooms were fully stocked with all of the pots, pans, seasonings, towels, etc that we needed during our stay. The location of the property was ideal as well. Just minutes from everything. We would recommend this property again and again!

If you want to really enjoy Virgin Gorda, stay here! We stayed with another family and everyone wanted to come back. Very roomy, with spectacular views all around. The staff was friendly, prompt and even checked on us. I would not think twice about staying here again.

Perfect Villa, Perfect Views, Perfect Vacation

I just came home last night from our weeks stay the Amateras in VG. I'm not sure where to begin as I only have the most glowing comments to make about Amateras and Virgin Gorda. In the last year, we have been to Turks & Caicos, Jamaica, St. Lucia & Virgin Gorda. My favorite island is Virgin Gorda for many reasons. First, there is so much to do and the ease of getting around is not to be beat. The islanders are increadibly warm and gentle. When planning this trip we debated between Amateras and another home on Mahoe Bay. We chose Amateras and am THRILLED that we did. This house is amazing. The views are breath taking and we would recommend this villa without reserve. I was with my Aussie husband (who is a beach snob) and 10 & 12 year old. All agreed that this was our favorite home to ever rent and our favorite place to visit. Amateras is close to everything. We went to The Baths, spent a day at Little DIx Bay and at Bitter End Yacht Club/Saba Rock. Had dinner at Biras Creek, chartered a sailboat, scuba dove, went deep sea fishing. I will always stay at Amateras instead of a resort as you can still enjoy the resort amenitites, but have the convenience and beauty of this stunning home. The pictures are good, but the house is even more gorgeous than the pictures convey. Craig is a darling...incredibly helpful. Sharan, Anna and Thelma all went out of their way to provide a perfect holiday. The kitchen at Amateras is better equipped than my own. Loved the fact that there were spices and condiments already at the house. This house is perfect for a family vacation or for an adult get away. There was not on e thing that I would change about the home. Well, one, I wish I owned it!!!

Absolutely spectacular property! We have been visiting and staying in VG for nearly 20 years and this was the first time we have rented Amateras. We will never rent any other villa on Virgin Gorda than AMATERAS. THe property was very well appointed and very clean. Wonderful pool. Lots of room to be together as a big group or plenty of space to be alone and just enjoy the beautiful blue-water views. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The views. The views. The views. Perfect in every way. Hats off to the owners!!!

A beautiful villa in a beautiful setting. Great views, lovely tropical breeze. Very clean, modern villa with an awesome, well equipped kitchen. Craig and his staff were very helpful and organized and professional. This one of our best family vacations we have taken, and we take many of them, mostly to the Caribbean. I would absoloutely recommend Amateras, you will not be disappointed!!!!

We loved our stay at Amateras so much that we were already planning next year's trip within 2 weeks of coming back home. We have been fortunate enough to stay at many different places in the caribbean, few more than twice, but this is one that we plan on visiting again and again. It's much more glorious and breathtaking in person, more than the pictures can convey, without being stuffy or pretentious. The thought that went in to designing this house and making it feel like a home nestled in the rocks high above everything else is too much to imagine. It's very clean, well laid out with ample room and the staff is courteous and very helpful. The owners were great with the booking on both occasions, answered questions and made us feel at home, in their home. 360 degree views offer a calm and peaceful setting while still being a quick drive away from anywhere on the island. The unique layout of separate villas built around a main family house made it easy for my family of 4, my father -in-law, and other members of our family to be away on vacation together but still have our our own space to retire to when necessary. We wholeheartedly reccomend it to our friends and family and to anyone that needs to get away from it all while still having access to everything you need within a short distance. This is a glorious getaway on a wonderful island. You haven't lived until you've spent a week here!

Stayed here with my parents and family for my brothers wedding. The actual ceremony took place pool side overlooking the island and beautiful water! Could not have painted a better picture! This place is epic! Sunset and sunrise views, emmaculate furnishing, V.I.P. and yoga lofts with wrap around deck! The surround sound Bob Marley filling the air as you refresh in the infinity pool. Tropical feel with outdoor showers and rocks with in your living areas! I could talk for days but trust me, see it for yourself. Enjoy and love life!

Paradise

I recently stayed at this place for my brothers wedding and it was nothing short of paradise. I could not have painted a more beautiful picture to spend a vacation stay with my parents and uncles! Sunset views from my bed prior to a nap before heading up to the common area for dinner where we cooked together in an immaculate kitchen, ate dinner over looking the island lights below and above in the sky, and enjoyed a movie in the comfy viewing area adjacent to the kitchen. After dinner, enjoy some drinks in the V.I.P. loft area where I also enjoyed watching the sunrise with a coffee/yoga as there is a wrap around deck facing the ocean!!! The pool area and the rest....well, its to epic to explain,,,,,,see for yourself, enjoy!!!!

You will not find a more fabulous villa on Virgin Gorda! This property is perfectly situated to take advantage of the views and breeze. It is designed and maintained with an attention to detail that will make your stay all the more enjoyable. As impressive as the photographs on the site are, they really cannot convey just how beautiful Amateras is. We travelled with 2 families and found Amateras to be an ideal layout for us. We loved the fully stocked kitchen and left it with more than what we found. The owner and on site staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Virgin Gorda is the most lovely island of the dozen that we have visited in the Caribbean. We’ll be back and you shouldn’t miss it!

Amateras is a first class villa. The design and layout are amazing. It is very comfortable for an extended family or multiple families. The views from every direction are absolutely spectacular. It's hill top location provides a comfortable breeze and quick and easy access The Baths and surrounding beaches. It is clear that there was a great deal of planning in the building of this very unique property. The pictures of this property while accurate do not do it justice. The attention to detail and views cannot be expressed in photos. The rental manager Sharon was fantastic. She provisioned the villa for us and was an extremely valuable person for local knowledge and available for an questions or services we required. We visited with two families and found the layout to be perfect for both entertaining and having personal space. Without a doubt we'd go back.

The pictures don't quite do it justice--it's hard to capture the stunning views in all directions. Great breezes on one side of the house, warm and calm on the other. Pool was a nice treat after a long day at the beach. We traveled with another family, so it was great to have separate sleeping quarters. Family room/kitchen were roomy and very well stocked. Dinner on the veranda with the sun setting made for memorable evenings. The beds were comfortable, AC worked great. The house was very clean. Our biggest concern was the location. It was not a problem for us. The island is so small, you can get where you want in short order. Beach access near the baths was just a couple minutes away. If you are looking to stroll to the beach, this is not your place. Craig (owner) and Sharon (mgr) were very helpful with all aspects of our trip. Craig offered great tips for our first visit to VG. We'll be back.

Incredible Place

Of all the VRBO properties where I have stayed, this one really stands out. Incredible views, very secluded yet access to everything nearby. Nestled among boulders and cacti at the highest point of the area, it reminds me of Northern Scottsdale in a Carribean setting. Rather than staying in a place on one beach, one of the main decisions you make in the morning is which beach best suits the day...all offer different experiences and all within a few minutes drive. The layout of the house, with three buildings, gives the ultimate in both privacy when you want it and a great main house to gather for cocktails, meals and swimming. No question we will return.

We loved our time here. The house is wonderfully laid out among several large boulders. Although we had the entire property among two couples, we had enough space between couples to make it very private. We chose a private house over the upscale resorts on the island and we were very pleased with our decision. We travelled to the resorts for meals, drinks, or day trips but it was nice to head back to the house for cocktails by the pool with spectacular views, a wonderful caribbean breeze and our own private setting. We hope to make this a somewhat regular trip.

What an incredible property! Nothing was missed in the creation of this breathtaking island retreat. Beautifully designed 360 views above it all and yet close to everything. This was our first ultimate Caribbean “Open Air” escape vacation. Our next visit will only be better. This place is a gem!

I have stayed at Amateras in Virgin Gorda two times first in '09 and again late in '10. It is paradise. The property is beautiful and unique - built into a rocky hilltop. It is very private and extremely comfortable. The views are essentially 360 degrees and amazing. It is new, clean and has every modern amenity you would want. Virgin Gorda is a great island, small enough to feel secluded but big enough to offer just enough services and retail to meet basic needs. The villa is first class. The main building has a huge patio leading to an infinity pool. Both are ideal for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. The kitchen is huge and modern. The pavilions are separate and well appointed which is really nice because it adds privacy. Both have additional decks for sunning and more great views. If I had anything bad to say it would be the need to travel to get to the beach. This is almost a non issue as there are so many different beaches to see, you would ultimately want to cruise around a bit to take them all in. Nothing is more than a few minutes away and the island is easy to navigate so I would not let this keep me from staying in such a superior villa. Craig and Sharon are easy to work with and make the details of your trip easy to manage. This is very important to me as this is the biggest variable when staying in a VRBO property instead of a resort. I have stayed in some where the owners/managers were difficult or just not helpful. Craig and Sharon are extremely helpful from providing tips to arranging services. I highly recommend Amateras. I would say it more strongly, but honestly, I don't want it to get to popular as I plan to be back and don't want anyone to take my week ;-)
