A perfect place to be!

This is a beautiful spacious and very well done house in a quiet surrounding and a wonderful garden. On one side you have a sitting place with the fascinating green of the rice-fields on the other side the big and very comfortable terrace leading to the perfectly clean pool. Here you can laze around watching the beautiful plants and trees and enjoy the jungle-atmosphere. The hosts are very caring about and helpful and so is the staff doing a great job. There is a lot of information provided for the guests in the house. Latestly as soon as you get used to the fact you have to walk a little bit you will love it. Don't forget the torch going out in the dark! I recommend it highly for everyone who estimate style privacy and culture. And I'm looking forward to come back one day!

What a house!

This is a beautiful house, and very much value for money! We stayed with the two of us so it was even more spacious than it is normally. The house is situated close to the city centre but you will have all the rest and privacy you need in the middle of the beautifull nature of the island. The city centre is easy to reach, especially when you rent a scooter like we did. You will find several restaurants in within walking distance. Furthermore the house is clean and very complete, we didn't miss a thing. Also the staff of this house is very friendly and helpfull. Conclusion: we have had a great holiday in this house and we recommend it to everybody!

Perfect hideaway from busy life

Guest: Rebekka (Germany)
Date of Stay: 03/14/10 Review Submitted: 08/01/11

One week I stayed in this wonderful villa surrounded by a beautiful garden with palm trees and georgeous tropical plants. It is the perfect hideaway for singles or for one or two couples. Each couple has their own accommodation wing with privacy and space. And a spacious kitchen with a huge table in between the two wings. A 15min walk through rice paddies gets you to the centre of Ubud with its bustling markets, galleries, restaurants and temples. There are also some very nice local warungs close by if you don't feel like going too far. Back at the house you can recover from the noisy traffic and busy town and enjoy the tranquility and peace of the place. The large veranda invites to nap, read or hop into the swimming pool. The villa is well equiped and comfortable; the furnishings and traditional artifacts reflect some aspects of Balinese culture and give a sense of tranquil harmony. For me it's an idyllic setting to get away from busy western life style and to relax in a warm, inviting ambience. I will come back for sure. Highly recommended!

Wonderful, intimate place in close to Ubud

Guest: Jaume (Barcelona)
Date of Stay: 01/20/11 Review Submitted: 08/01/11

I came in january/february for a month with my family and we had a wonderful time. The house was so beautiful and we felt just like at home... or even better. The housekeeping team was perfect, always so friendly and caring. Our 9-month-old son was always in best hands, as all balinese love children. We enjoyed especially that the house was so big with its two terraces, one for the morning, the other one for the afternoon (wonderful sunsets over the jungle). That was very important to us, as we couldn't move too much with the baby. We didn't feel as if we needed to go out and when it was raining, we could just stay in the house and contemplate the rice fields, the birds and the jungle. The nature feeling at this hidden, but still well connected place combined with all the comfort you need, was just perfect. It was so relaxing and everything so easy with the balineses, the closeby restaurants delivering or even the Bintang-supermarket bringing your purchases home with the motorbike. It was just the best holidays we ever had! I can highly recommend the place, we found everything as it was described or even better, the owner and the housekeeping team were helpful in all concerns.

True exclusiveness

Guest: Kulle (Uttenreuth, Germany)
Date of Stay: 10/03/10 Review Submitted: 01/26/11

We visited Rumah Kelapa in October 2010 to find an oasis of peace and quiet. Situated in sound-absorbing rice paddies the villa offers room for thought and relaxation. The rooms are exquisitely furnished and decorated, the large front terrace room is spacious enough for everybody to find his or her individual corner. The swimming-pool, surrounded by tropical plants and palm trees, enchanted us especially at night. The house service was excellent, the property well-maintained. There are various restaurants closeby if you don't want to bother cooking yourself. We also frequented the spas in walking distance that offered luxurious massages at very reasonable prices. We would not have traded our place for a busybody hotel - definitely not!

a true Bali experience

Guest: SD yogi (San Diego, CA)
Date of Stay: 08/22/10 Review Submitted: 10/12/10

We very much enjoyed our stay at the villa, this was not our first time on the island and we were amazed at the perfect jungle set up so close to restaurants and shops. And a Yoga studio 5 minutes away. The pool is quite large and the views from the patio delightful. Very comfortable one level villa with no stairs and bathrooms next to the bedrooms. Daily cleaning and a night guard made us feel very safe and cared for.You can cook your own meals, the supermarket is an 8 minute walk through a ricefield. It looks just like the pictures and the owner was very helpful arranging our stay. We are looking forward to visit again.

perfect hidden getaway

this is the perfect retreat for a relaxed getaway to bali. surrounded by tranquil forest yet easy to reach. house is in perfect condition (german owners) with plenty of space and excellent pool facilities. although one might think its too remote as for the location, easy access by taxi and arranged transport (thank you aksara!) helps to facilitate moving around. we enjoyed a couple of relaxing days and nights (very little mosquitoes!) and felt very safe. place is recommended for families and honeymooners. enjoy your stay! - its a real experience.

Lovely home and great pool, easy distance to Ubud

Guest: Nancy (Hong Kong)
Date of Stay: 06/21/10 Review Submitted: 07/09/10

Rumah Kelapa can not be recommended highly enough. The location is fantastic and the house is lovely. Simple, beautiful, traditional Balinese home walking distance to all of Ubud, yet quiet and remote. The front porch overlooks a small rice field with dining table, and large back patio area overlooking the private pool and incredible landscaping offer many options for relaxation including flat screen TV with a significant movie collection of many genres. Several small restaurants, some with internet access, are within a 4-minute walk. Food, drinks, and views are excellent, and dinner for two with appetizer and fresh fruit juice costs under US$7. House staff and restaurant staff are extremely friendly to all and also child friendly. Also available by request is an outstanding chef, Nyoman, who cooked delicious Balinese meals, but also cooks Western, at extremely reasonable (unbelievable) costs. Quick easy walk through the rice fields or on an alternative paved path to a large supermarket, ATM, and excellent Spa. Reasonably priced laundry service is also available in the village. Driver was especially warm and friendly and even invited us to his village for a special ceremony. Owners who are remote were available by internet to answer any questions and were both helpful and knowledgeable. Local people are friendly and kind, and once they recognized us, several times offered us rides on motorbikes as they were heading "home." A morning run took us by men building bamboo structures for a ceremony, women creating offerings, artists working, large water bottle deliverer by carrying the 19l bottle on her head, rice fields, rivers, etc. A fantastic value and we will recommend to everyone as well as look forward to an opportunity to return here, it is extremely peaceful, relaxing, beautiful, and an excellent value.
