We were thrilled with our stay here! Amy was a great hostess and the property was clean, very comfortable and had everything that we needed. It's easy to make yourself at home here. Most importantly it was in the perfect location for a great stay in Hanalei! The beach is just at the end of the street and the shops and restaurants in town are only a quick walk away. We never wanted to leave. In fact, when we did leave to go stay at a big resort in Poipu for the second half of our trip we longed to be back at the cute guesthouse in Hanalei. We will definitely be renting here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

What a wonderful home just a very short walk from the beach in Hanalei! This lovely property is even nicer than the photos make it appear -- well organized 1 BR layout so that our family of 4 did not feel crowded at all, great secluded deck for relaxing and dining, well appointed kitchen, outdoor and indoor showers, and best of all, all the beach equipment one could possibly need. My 9 year old learned to surf in Hanalei Bay, my 5 year old built sandcastles and snorkeled, my husband grilled fish in on the gas grill, and we all were so grateful for your hospitality. Hope to stay for longer next time!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We have been here for two weeks. Amy and Paul have been so accomodating and respectful of our privacy as part of this tight knit Hanalei community. Lovely space for two with vintage hawaiiana decor and nothing to worry about. Thank you for all the beach gear!!! Walking distance to lovely Hanalei Bay (Pavilion Beach access), evening stroll to Hanalei town for fresh ahi, local live music, Tuesday farmer's market, great shopping and some seriously wicked Mai-tais! Convenient home base for the low key side of the Garden Isle. Who needs the bustle of the south shore, with access to the most sacred places on Kauai? Snorkeling with sea turtles, breathtaking vistas, golf if you must, and hiking to your heart's content. Tremendous value and life changing experience. We will return!!! Recommended for couples interested in the authentic Aloha spirit. Mahalo! T and BriRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

A visit back to Kauai is always special, but staying at Paul's and Amy's made our visit perfect! The accomodations were exceptional and the location ideal for our family! We enjoyed short walks to beautiful Hanalei Bay, biking to the pier, easy access to the quaint town of Hanalei, and the graciousness, knowledge and helpfulness of our wonderful hosts! Kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, surfing, hiking, barbecuing and sunbathing, all combined to make our Kauai stay no ka oi (number one). If you are looking for a fun, safe and relaxing stay on the Garden Ilse, look no further!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed here for a VERY rainy week in May 2011 but we still had a great time and this house was a wonderful place to stay. It looks even nicer in person than it does in the pictures. It's a private separate guest house and we felt very much like we were staying in our own place (but with the convenience of having locals right there if we needed them). Paul and Amy were very nice but gave us our space and privacy. The landscaping right around the building provided a secluded feeling too. The house felt like a nice apartment for us as just a couple. The kitchen isn't fancy but it's clean and has everything you could want. We hung out in the living room, on the lanai, and in the dining room a lot. With the windows all open, it sounded like we were in a tropical rain forest with tons of birds singing. It's a short walk and about a 30 second bike ride to the beach. We rode the house's bikes to the beach and to town for groceries and dinner and only used our car for leaving Hanalei. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Though we have been annual visitors to Kauai (8 years) and love the North Shore, we have never stayed in Hanalei. This cottage turned out to be the perfect spot for us. From the outside, we didn't expect it to be as delightful as it was. The rooms are airy with lots of light and were decorated very tastefully. Everything was spotless. The bed was super comfortable (in fact I'm shopping for the same pillows when I get home). Best of all, were all the beach toys provided for our use - chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, bikes, snorkeling equipment. We loved riding the bikes down to the pier in the evening to watch the sunset. What a great week - we'll be back - next time for an even longer stay. Mahalo!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children.
