The Clinton Street Apartment is located in the heart of one of N.Y.C. most vibrant, desirable, and centrally located neighborhoods- The Lower East Side. Situated in a Pre-war, elevator building on a beautiful tree-lined street, the apartment is just steps away from some of the best downtown eateries, ( W.D.50, Frankies, Falai, Schillers) bars, and shops. Public transportation is readily available on the F-line subway train just three blocks away.
The apartment is newly remodeled and furnished with a mid-century modern design aesthetic. There are parquet floors, a sunken living room, ample closet space, a sun-filled breakfast nook and two large bedrooms. The main bedroom has a queen-sized, quilt covered bed, and the second bedroom has two twin sized beds. The living room has a modern, built-in sofa unit, that comfortably sleeps two, a 26" flat screen T.V. and DVD player, and is decorated with original artworks.
There is a small space off the living room that acts as an office with a desk and chair, a land line telephone, and a convenient place for your laptop computer. A walk-in, newly renovated kitchen is fully equipped and well appointed. The bathroom is original with an art deco motif and large bathtub/shower. If you need to do laundry during your stay, there is a full service laundry around the corner.
The Lower East Side is a historic neighborhood full of old-time charm and modern conveniences. The Essex Street Market is two blocks away and is filled with artisanal wine and cheese shops, fresh produce stands, and a great fish and meat market. There is a Whole Foods Market six blocks away, and the historic Tompkins Square Park is just seven blocks to the north.

I am a Professor of Art at The Cooper Union College of Art. I am a native of Brooklyn, N.Y. While attending Cooper Union as an undergraduate, I rented this apartment (20 Clinton) and lived there for the next 25 years. I purchased the apartment in 1997 when the property was converted into a condominium. I currently live in Brooklyn with my husband and dog and maintain a studio art practice.
