Wow! I almost can't say more! (Well, my husband would be done talking at this point.) But, me, myself having never been known to be a woman of few words!! AMAZING!! AWESOME, BEAUTIFUL. BEYOND EXPECTATIONS....... Everything the reviews said were spot on!! We were truly on a "North Carolina Mtn high". After 32 years together your "Little Slice of Heaven" really hit the spot. Thank you for opening your cabin to our family. We had a wonderful time. It was perfect for our first family vacation. The location was perfect. Close enough to do a lot. We went to the flea market where Sam was able to get an old plumbing torch (perfect for a plumber). We also enjoyed our day adventures tubing, horseback riding, rafting and going to Cherokee Indian Reservation where the boys got Indian flutes and we saw Ningo Falls. We also enjoyed making S’mores by the fire and relaxing in the hot tub. Thank you so much and we will be sure to tell our friends of your lovely cabin.

Butch & Carolyn - What a great mountain experience your cabin has provided our family. Our boys enjoyed exploring the mountain side and catching all sorts of crazy flying critters. We fished on Wells Lake and had our first "The Big One That Got Away" story. I'm sure that this experience will stay with our 6 year old for his entire life as he reeled in a "BIG ONE" only to have his line come apart. We also enjoyed day trips to Vogel State Park and Unicol State Park. The water falls and hiking were the perfect fit for our family. Perhaps the most amazing was our trip up Brasstown Bald - - Truly a reminder that we have an awesome Creator!! Thank You for providing a wonderful home away from home for our trip. Hope to return again one day.

Our 9 day vacation/business trip was made quite enjoyable by having your cabin to come home to. The view is to die for. We ate all of our meals outside with the squirrels and birds. On three occasions we spotted deer & wild turkey across the river. As soon as our Florida property is sold or leased we will be up here full time & hope to see you them.

Mr. Zirkle - Thanks for hosting "our newlyweds & letting the "parents" stay the last 2 days of the week that was reserved. We were not here long enough at this amazing place with the most fabulous views of any of the cabins we've ever stayed. We could even see the sunset through the pines between the yard and the road. It was so peaceful eating our meals on your thoughtfully placed table on the covered deck. We enjoyed the furniture & cleanliness of this cabin in the mountains with the awesome views of the river and mountain peaks.

We rented this cabin April 3-10, 2011. This cabin is extremely well kept. It was more than roomy for our family of four. Everything needed was provided: Full kitchen, 2 bathrooms and bedrooms, spacious living room with a working gas fireplace, awesome deck with rockers, picnic table and grill, and the hot tub and firepit are the icing on the cake! Everywhere we wanted to go and everything we wanted to see were within about an hour of this cabin! The owners are more than helpful, gracious and fabulous to deal with! We are so grateful for one of the most tranquil vacations we have EVER had! Nothing compares to the great North Carolina outdoors!

Owner response:Thank you so much for the awesome review! We work very hard to make our cabin appealing to all of our guests. Just in the last year we have added a fire pit next to the hot tub over looking the Nottley River and eleven long range mountain peaks on the other side of the river. We also painted the deck and Gazebo, added a sign at the edge of driveway to help identify our cabin, put up 3 blue bird boxes and a bird feeder. We are currently under pinning the back porch with lattice to make it more appealing to the eye. Come visit us at the "Nottley River Retreat". You will be blown away by the view and the peacefulness of our cabin. A very private retreat!!

Thank you so much for sharing your cabin with us! Your cabin “ The Nottley River Retreat” was a pleasant retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Even though we didn’t to see any of the local fauna, the views from the front porch were amazing in and of themselves and I don’t remember the last time we saw so many stars at night. Thank you for letting us spend Christmas week in your lovely cabin. Of course, snow on Christmas day turned a fabulous vacation into a magical one! Butch & Carolyn - This is a very nice cabin. One of the best one's we have stayed in. Love the decor and the view from the front porch and hot tub are awesome! Having the secure wireless internet was a blessing. Really enjoyed the thermostatically controlled fire logs in the fireplace, the hot tub and the big screen TV with satellite connection. The rooms were spacious, the kitchen was well equipped and the garage was a plus. Spent many hours on the porch relaxing while we grilled steaks on the gas gill. When we return to Murphy again we will surely rent your lovely cabin again. Thanks so much for everything and may God bless you both. P.S. We noticed that you are installing a fire pit next to the Gazebo where the hot tub sits. On our next visit we will be sure to enjoy this new feature.

Owner response:Thank so much for the 5 star review on our cabin. We try very hard to help everyone who stays in our cabin to have a pleasant experience. We have done many things to improve our cabin since we purchased it 2 years ago this coming September. We painted the cabin inside and out, added a fire pit area to roast hot dogs and marshmallows, added several flower boxes, installed a bird feeder and 3 blue bird boxes and installed high speed internet and DirecTV but the main thing that renters fall in love with is the million dollar view and the privacy of our cabin. You need to come see for yourself!! It is truly amazing!!

Butch and Carolyn, We have greatly enjoyed your cabin during our summer migration to the mountains. We own property in Blairsville and plan to build in a few years. Your cabin provided several good ideas for our home. The morning and evening views and the view of the night sky was fantastic. The sound of the river below and the hot tub only added to a great stay! We have been staying at various cabins for over 20 years and yours rate among the best!! Butch and Carolyn - Your cabin is wonderful and well kept. As for the picturesque views, they are BREATH- TAKING. The cabin rests in one of the most tranquil spots that I have ever seen. We were celebrating our 18th anniversary. The privacy was most welcome. This has been one of the most relaxing vacations ever. We took a scenic drive down winding roads through the national forest on our way to the Biltmore House in Asheville, NC. The walking trail at fire creek, close by the cabin, were great. The Flea Market was interesting as well as the quaint downtown area shops. But by far best was our day at Nantahola National Forest & River Gorge. But as they say... so many things to do and so little time. *** Thank you for your hospitality!! *** We most definitely plan to return in the near future.

Butch, Just wanted to say thanks again for sharing your wonderful cabin in Murphy. We had a really nice time and everything at the cabin was great. Don't really have anything negative to say. Just a few things we did while we were there: • Took a drive to Blue Ridge, GA (approx. 17 miles) Really charming town with lots of neat shops and restaurants. We had brunch in the french cafe and they make the best peach custard pies! There is a train ride that you can take there as well. It's 3 1/2 hrs. with a 1 1/2 hr. stop for lunch, etc. • Dinner (on our anniversary night) was great at Murphy Chophouse. The She Crab soup and the lobster tails were delicious. (our son is a chef so we are pretty fussy) Our server, Marco, was great as well. We met a nice couple there and they suggested a drive to Ocoee River Gorge. (which we did) That is where the 1996 Olympic Kayak races were held. • Took a drive to Hayesville (approx. 23 miles) and went into a charming garden shop called "Louise's Garden Shop" She makes homemade quiche and cinnamon buns as well. If you take 64 and make a left onto Fires Creek Rd. and follow that to the Nanatahala Nat'l Forest, there is a great spot to park with pretty waterfalls (Leatherwood Fallls) and lots of butterflies. The walking trails are very easy and there are a lot of nice picnic tables on the river. • Drove to Tellico Plains, TN and had a picnic lunch on the Tellico River. Beautiful!!!! • Lunch at ShoeBooties in Murphy was really good. The Barbecue chicken sandwich is delicious. • Daily Grind & Wine has live music on Friday nights and they make great turkey reuben sandwiches and have a nice variety of wines and beers. Prices are really reasonable. As you can see, we are pretty adventurous and enjoy exploring new areas. Having internet access was great too. You can get so much info from it. That's where we found out about the Leatherwood Water Falls. We never did get a chance to meet the neighbors. They came on Sunday afternoon and left Tuesday morning. Maybe next time. Regards, Jane

Butch and Carolyn – This place is absolutely beautiful! We really loved the fire place and the hot tub!! We visited all over the area including the Cherokee Museum, The Pyramid, Flea Market & the Casino in Cherokee. We had a wonderful time at the cabin. I always enjoy writing our comments in the guest book. I also left a note with a couple of suggestions. One suggestion was painting the house numbers a light color so they can be seen better. Another possibility is adding a shade on the left side of the gazebo for a little privacy. Lastly, maybe putting an outside light fixture at the end of the porch which would help when BBQing and going down the steps to the hot tub after dark. I only mention these because you asked!! Your cabin is still No. 1 on our list to rent. I just can't think of anything negative!!

Butch and Carolyn – We had a wonderful time at your cabin. The view of the river and mountain peaks was amazing. We watched wild turkeys in the field across the river for 2 days and also saw deer in the field then at night we listened to a pack of coyotes. We had a great hike in the Joyce Kilmer forest as well. We met some interesting people down at the flea market! We hope to be back to stay at this lovely cabin again. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
