Location: Lopez Island, San Juan Islands, Washington State, USA View Map
Accommodations: House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 7)
From across the road, sunlight reflects off Fisherman Bay and sends shimmering auras onto the walls of this historic home. This recently revived farmhouse was built in the late 19th century. Its charm lies in the character etched into 100 year old island fir floors and wainscoted walls.
Lying in the shadow of the Olympic National Rain Forest gives Lopez Island only half the precipitation of Seattle. This, along with the unspoiled beauty and the friendly community, help make our islands a welcoming destination.
September sees a slowing down of ferry traffic and less congestion in the bay, as many boats return to their home ports. September and October are our best kept secrets, with crisp mornings and warm days, and the leaves turning golden.
This is the perfect house for watching the world go by. Sit on the front porch and watch the sun setting in the west, turning the sky into flame. Or, when the gales of November and December come - stay cozy inside with a cup of hot tea and a game of chess or cards. We love a good storm!
When you really don't want to cook, or just want to share some refreshment and conversation, The Galley Restaurant is just next door - open year round for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Map & Owner's Profile
"The Harbor House" Historic Island Home on Fisherman Bay
Year Purchased: 2009
Why the Owner Chose Lopez Island
We have long admired this house - one of the few remaining older homes on the island. It was built circa 1890 - 1895 and is listed in the Washington State Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation. It remains intact with virtually no interior/exterior changes to its structure. With upkeep, maintenance and revival, our intention is to maintain the integrity and charm of this old house.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Ambience of an old house, rich with its surroundings and history. Access to Fisherman Bay, two docks, mooring buoys, beach. Spectacular sunsets from the porch, living room and kitchen. Watching boats, birds, seals and other marine activities on the bay. Convenience of full service restaurant and bar, right next door.
Grocery, thrift shop, dining, shopping, art galleries, medical clinic, pharmacy and gift shop.
Books, books, books! Reading area with fireplace. Meeting rooms. Videos.
Owner's Map of Lopez Island
We have lived on Lopez Island since 1974. We knew from the moment we stepped off the ferry in August of '74 that this was going to be home! We have started several businesses on the island and have owned and operated The Galley Restaurant and Lounge (which is adjacent to the Harbor House) since 2001. Kim is an artist, musician. scavenger and renovator. Jeff is a restauranteur, drummer and workaholic. We have two grown children and 2 adored grandchildren. Life is good!
