We remodeled the house in 2006 and continue to work on making it more comfortable for our family and guests. 6 Sabal Palm Cottages offers a light, open floor plan, including a new kitchen and hardwood floors throughout and a newly replaced upstairs bathrooms. We offer 1 king, 2 doubles and 2 twins. Found in the center of the island, the cottage is minutes away from the beach, as well as the harbor and restaurants, 'Old Baldy', both clubs, the creek access and Maritime market.
For an additional charge, our guests may select temporary membership at either Shoals or Bald Head Island clubs which we are happy to coordinate for you. Shoals club is located at East beach in a superb ocean side setting. It offers both a main pool and smaller child's pool with beautiful ocean views. Informal pool side and restaurant dinning are available as is a small gym. For those wanting to play golf or tennis, Bald Head Island club offers both, as well as a gym and pool. Pool side dinning is available as is more formal dinning within the stylish club house.
Our rates include the use of our 6 seater golf cart, 3 bikes and beach chairs. The rates listed include NC taxes and cleaning so you won't be hit with charges you weren't expecting. We are also offering return guests 5% discount on weekly reservations and do not increase our prices for Holidays. We also accept 3 day rents, perfect for a wedding or golfing get away.
If you are not familiar with Bald Head Island, imagine a quiet, relaxing place with beautiful and varied surroundings. Whether you are looking for an active vacation on the water or on land or one spent enjoying the 14 miles of wonderful beaches, there's something for everyone. Fishing, sailing, kayaking, golfing ,biking, beach combing, nature trails, exploring the island after dark or turtle watching with the interns. What ever your chosen past time, our house offers a lovely relaxing atmosphere to return to. Relax on the screened porch with a view of the lagoon and enjoy a drink.

Why the Owner Chose Bald Head Island
We originally chose Bald Head, not just because we loved being there, but also because it's just 3 hours from Raleigh. Once in Southport, it's a short 20 minute ferry ride to the island. We chose our house in Sabal Palms because of it's central location. It's just as easy to get to the beach as it is to get to the harbor or market and with our children often using their bikes to get around, that makes it easy for us all. Sabal Palms enjoys a quiet location in the center of the island within a small community. We have a community barbeque located on the gazebo overlooking our lagoon. A perfect place for spotting an alligator whilst waiting for the burgers to cook!
The Unique Benefits at this House
Bald Head island is unique in that no cars are allowed. Getting around in either by golf cart, on foot or by bike which makes for a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere. Our house is less than a five minute golf cart ride to the nearest beach or the market. Bald Head is also a breeding ground for the Loggerhead Turtle and guided by the interns during the nesting season, it's possible to see this wonderful creature up close. The conservancy offers a number of different programs from short information sessions to day camps for children during the summer months.

We first visited Bald Head Island in Spring 1998 with our children and were immediately taken in by all the island had to offer. Whether taking it easy on the beaches or being more active in the conservation area around us, we have never been short of things to do. As the years went on, we found ourselves returning again and again to Bald Head for our vacations, and in 2004 when we left the United States to live overseas we felt there was no better place to have a vacation home. Our house on Bald Head is our home and one we look forward to returning to when ever we can - it's a place we can truly relax and enjoy each others company. If you have teenagers, a rare treat, I think you'll agree!

My husband and I are not ones to do the same thing twice; we enjoy adventure and change. However we will def. be back to Bald Head Island; my husband even said that he thinks we could make this a traditional event. This house was perfect! It was a short golf cart ride to the market and shops; the peir for a morning stroll and coffee pick up; to the beach; and fairy! The screened in porch was awesome to sit on at night and the size and rooms were spacious enough but not to big: they do a great job of making it feel like your home away from home.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We had a wonderful time in BHI and thoroughly enjoyed your home. The house is located in the middle of the island so everything ( beaches, market, restaurants, marina ) was a short golf cart trip away. The home is clean , bright, well decorated and very comfortable. We used the temporary membership to the Shoals club, which was perfect. It had a great beach, pools, indoor and an out door restaurant. Carrie was a pleasure to work with. She is polite , responded to my questions promptly and was very easy to communicate with. We will come and stay at this home again !

Our family really enjoyed the time we spent here. The house has everything that you can think of from kitchen supplies to board games to beach toys. Just pack your clothes and food and catch the ferry. The location is in the middle of the island which we were not sure that we would like. However, we found that it was cooler and less windy than those with ocean views. From this house, you are no more than a 5 minute golf cart ride to whatever beach you want to go to. After a couple days, our kids had named the beaches: Shell beach, Wave beach, Fishing beach, etc. We can not wait to go back.

Our family had a wonderful visit at 6 Sabal Palm. We have stayed on BHI many times in the past and staying at this home was one of our favorite stays. The home is very clean, very spacious living/dining/kitchen area, the kitchen is well stocked for cooking, plenty of games for the children to play and a very relaxing location. The owners are wonderful to communicate/keep in contact with before, during and after our stay. We'll definitely be back!
