Thank you Marci for letting us stay in your wonderful house. We stayed at the Pickford House for my daughter’s wedding weekend and had an intimate ceremony and reception there. I found it online and the pictures are great but when you see the house in person you will be blown away. So beautiful and even bigger in person. We ran from room to room and I couldn't decide which bedroom I wanted because each bedroom was more beautiful than the next. Each bedroom has its own bathroom with claw foot tub and flat screen TV and is decorated with antiques. Being able to have my immediate family all have their own rooms and be together was fantastic. Marci was so helpful and thanks to her we had the perfect stay. She was always available to answer all my questions. Amparo came in and helped us in the kitchen and was a real sweetheart. The kitchen is incredible with 2 large refrigerators, professional stove and all the dishes, pots and pans, utensils you could ever need. The dining room is magnificent and the big antique bar is one of the many highlights of the house. I can't wait to plan another visit. Maybe a couple’s weekend or a mini family reunion!! Thanks again Marci!!! We will definitely be back.

I booked this 9 room house 8 months in advance of my 30th b-day. I had done tons of research and this was the best option for hosting an event and having 22-29 people all stay in the same house...comfortably. In a short statement: The house is Awesome, the service and friendliness could definitely improve. If you want to judge for yourself, I'll give you some facts about our experience, things that were important to me, may not be as big of a deal for others. The house is amazing, very unique in decor and although its a little rough around the edges (like some rooms don't have working heaters and the fan turns on the same time as the main lights, etc..) BUT its got an awesome dining/hang out room with a fantastic vintage Bar. Well equipped kitchen and 2 fridges. Not only did this house work great as a venue for my Old West Saloon themed party, but it is also a great option for family reunions, etc. Each room having its own full bathroom and all the rooms being upstairs keeps everyone's stuff stowed away and the downstairs area becomes a clutter free hang out zone. My issues with the stay: Marci, the owner is very busy with other things and doesn't really have the time to address all the little questions that come about with booking a reservation...she does get back to you and will answer them, but you always ge the sense that she is annoyed and has more important things to be doing. I was paying for the entire rental myself and when I'm spending a couple grand on something, I'm going to have questions and be a little high maintenance. The caregiver that lives on-site was supposed to let us into the house late night and when we arrived those arrangements had not been made, she was also supposed to take the trash out each day, but that did not happen either. On the day of check-out, we had arranged for a 2pm check-out, but the caregiver came out angry at 11 and it appeared as though the information had not been communicated to her. The caregiver was great in that she did not disturb us and put up with our loudness, but she could have been a lot more welcoming and friendly. Like I said before, LOVE the house and would prob. turn this into an annual family reunion location, but not jumping to make those arrangements considering the annoyed energy the people give off.

Owner response: Wow interesting people with review. I admit I was busy because I took on a volunteer project that prevented me from being 100% available unable to reply to each and every questions or phone call within 10 minutes. It's over now and things are back to normal. Thank you for making us better. I do try and we do care. Marci

Recently, 14 lovely ladies celebrated a couple of birthdays at the Pickford House. Our stay could not have been better. All bedrooms had full baths and there was plenty of room for all, not to mention the fully equipped gourmet kitchen, the beautiful old bar and the Kareoke machine. This is the perfect place for a reunion or family gathering in beautiful Cambria.

Best house ever! Had 19 ladies celebrating our 15th year of getting together and could not have had a better house. It was awesome large kitchen, great bar area and we even sang Kareokee! Went wine tasting and did the Hearst Castle tour. Our group this coming 2013 is up to 21 ladies attending and yes we are already reserved for our visit back to the Pickford House for April 2013. Thanks Marci for such great place to visit. We look forward to many years of stating at the Pickford House. Terry Volcano CA

The first thing that we said when we first arrived at the house was "we will be back again." we were super impressed with the house of how clean, cozy, and how big it was. Our kids also had a blast and did not want to go home. Marci, the owner, was super nice, generous, and super accommodating. And Cambria is such a cute litle town. We just couldn't find any negative to say about this trip. Thank you Marci again.

We were planning a reunion for six families somewhere between LA and the Bay Area. Cambria was our preferred choice as we had been here before (love the area - the town and the coast). We were excited to find the Pickford house which provided the opportunity for us all to stay together. We had an incredible weekend. The house was great for our group - bedrooms for all the couples and the children had plenty of space with the extra rooms and rollaway beds. We cooked great meals together in the big kitchen, enjoyed eating together in the great dining room, hanging out at the bar area before dinner and enjoyed the karaoke entertainment every evening. We ate, drank and had many laughs during our great weekend away - we also enjoyed the Cambria area and hiked, biked, explored tide pools, visited the elephant seal rookery, some visited Hearst Castle, shopped in the village and walked on the beaches. Thanks Marci & Amparo for everything that made this a great weekend, we look forward to doing it again in the future.

Hidden Treasure! A fantastic house in Cambria! It was our first visit to the area for best girlfriends. Very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. We each had a room with a private bath. Loved the Valentino room the best! Huge kitchen, two refrigerators. After visiting and wine tasting at the many vineyards nearby we finished each night chatting it up back at the Pickford hanging out together downstairs at the beautiful bar and fireplace. Morning walks along the ocean on beautiful trails. Next year we’ll be back with our husbands! Thank you for making this house available as a private group rental. It’s PERFECT. Thirteen guys mostly in their late 20's - early 30's used the Central Coast as a neutral site for our annual fantasy baseball draft, so we were looking for a place that would comfortably accommodate that many. We succeeded, as we didn't need to leave all weekend. Highlights: the living room area is spacious without being cavernous and was large enough to accommodate all of us -- with laptops and accessories -- at the four square tables that we lined up like a big conference table. The old-school bar in that room is spectacular and kept us out of the kitchen when we were thirsty. Speaking of the kitchen, having a commercial style kitchen was a luxury for the food preparation effort and made it possible for us to keep enjoying ourselves without having to go on food runs. The VRBO.com listing was perfectly accurate from both copy and photos. The house was very clean and well-maintained. Marci -- the owner -- was great to work with every step of the way and even graciously allowed us a late check out. For 13 of us, the price was quite a bit beyond what we planned, but everyone agreed the extra cash was well-spent. We hope to be back next year with better weather so we can enjoy the outdoors.

We were worried at first that house was close to the highway.  But it didn’t bother us at all. The back of the house faces the 2 lane highway and it’s set about 200 feet above it. The kids were safe and we were all comfortable in the large immaculate bedrooms.  The kitchen had everything we needed. Thank you Marci and Amparo for the free kitchen help!  Our family spent time at the beaches, parks, town shopping, and we very much enjoyed Hearst Castle just 10 minutes up the road. I am so glad my sister found this wonderful house for our us all to gather together. 26 of us came from 5 states and 2 countries and were able to spend quality time reconnecting.  Priceless!  Amy of Washington

We spent four nights here holding our family reunion to celebrate my parents’ 60th wedding anniversary. We were 16 adults and one baby. We had exactly enough bedrooms so that everyone who wanted their own room had one. We especially liked that each bedroom had its own full bath. There was plenty of room for us to congregate downstairs & to have our meals together. The kitchen had plenty of room to work & was reasonably supplied with appropriate pans, dishes, etc. I would recommend this house to others, but with some cautions. The refrigerator was too small for a large group. It was a full sized family refrigerator with a broken ice maker. We cooked most of our meals at the house, so we had plenty of food to store. We had to buy ice & use our ice chests. Also the bathtubs, though charming, had very high sides. These are very difficult to get into if you’re short or have trouble getting around. My 81-year-old, under 5’ mother found this especially difficult. The only bedroom with a step-in shower is the one with no direct entrance to the house. In conclusion, we were quite happy with our stay here. We all agreed this suited our group quite well. If you’re not too picky & need a place for a large group get-together, this place is perfect. If you’re expecting high luxury & a scenic location (for the house, not Cambria), you might be disappointed.

Owner response: Thank you Virginia and family. We've added a 2nd refridgerator and more kitchen cookware.
