Year Purchased: 2007
I am a math teacher and my husband is an engineer. We met skiing in the Canadian Rockies and never lost our love of skiing. Years later, we built our dream vacation home at Schweitzer ourselves. It required three long years of dedicated family effort, but was SO worth it! Now we ski with our three children and friends every chance we get.
Why the Owner Chose Schweitzer Mountain
We love the renowned tree skiing and the breathtaking views of Lake Pend O'Reille. Short to non-existent lift lines make for lots of vertical every day. There are so many runs you can ski a different run all day.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The hiking, biking, and huckleberry picking in the summer and fall are an added bonus. The relaxing sound of the creek outside our bedroom windows makes summer stays calming and peaceful.

Fantastic place and amazing people to work with. Place is immaculate and clearly well taken care off. Plenty of room unlike many houses/condo's at Schweitzer - never once felt crowded but at the same time warm and cozy in all rooms. Place truly is ski in ski out with out needed to be an expert tree skier :) Would recommend and plan on returning next year.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, families with young children.

This was our ninth year of coming to Schweitzer around Christmas time to ski. Of all of the places where we have stayed on the mountain this was by far the nicest. The skiing access is very easy straight down to the village. Also, the house is heated through radiant heat in the floor and has a special air/heat exchanger, hence the air in this home is much less dry than most places on Schweitzer, which can be a real pain for Seattlelites. The bedroom set-ups are great and well spread out through the home and there's even a ping-pong table in the basement, which kept the kids busy for hours. The hot tub is very large and well maintained. Finally, the home has DSL internet access, which is relatively uncommon based on my experience up here.

This Chalet is more beautiful than the pictures can show. Especially the view of the mountain out of the living room. We were able to sit there and watch the skiers and snowboarders come down the mountain. The ski in/ski out access is very easy and close to the village. We didn't want to leave. I would highly recommend this beautiful place.
