CareFree BoneFish Lodge is a modest duplex cottage sitting across the street from a very productive flat/creek system. The cottage is best used by four guys or two couples sharing a fishing trip/vacation, as there are two single beds, plus a king and a queen per unit. It is completely furnished, with a full kitchen and dining/living area. Both bed rooms comes with A/C and ceiling fans. Additionally, there are ceiling fans in the other area. Linens and utensils are provided.
Acklins Island is one of the least known islands of The Bahamas, Acklins comprises the southern and southeastern part of the chain. The terrain is hilly and desolate, with unusual rock formations, and varied plant and animal life, including an occasional swamp turtle. Along its coastline are numerous hidden coves with extensive, beautiful beaches and a number of tiny, colorful, villages; lovely Bay, Snug Corner, Salena Point, Spring Point, to name a few.
Bordered by the nearly uninhabited Castle Island and Long Cay, they are as natural as they were when The Bahamas was first "discovered." Columbus reputedly sailed down the leeward side of the islands through the narrow Crooked Island Passage, which has ever since served as an important route for steam ships traveling from Europe to Central and South America.
The bight of Acklins is more than 1000 square miles of shallow water. This is one of the largest area of bonefish-flats in the Bahamas. Exploring this system of flats, creeks, channels and mangrove marls could take a lifetime.
There are two flights on Bahamasair into Acklins Island each week. These flights are on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Plan to spend the night in Nassau the day before travel into Acklins. Additionally, Pineapple Air now provides two flights weekly into Ackins on Mondays and Fridays. There are now four flights per week!!!!
Please leave plenty of time between connections, especially on your return flight. Make sure you are booked into Spring Point, Acklins and that you exit the plane on Acklins Island as the flight serves more than one destination.

Felton, We enjoyed the trip and staying at the duplex in Spring Point. The house was as we expected and the vehicle was suitable for our needs. My brother caught his first bonefish on a fly and my friend Richard caught his first bonefish ever, also on a fly, thanks to the capable help of Reno. I caught many bonefish on the flats south of the house and though my roommates didn't catch many, they had plenty of "shots" at fish on those flats. The people of Acklins were very friendly and helped us find everything we needed. I'll recommend the Spring Point duplex to my friends that are capable of fishing DIY and to the others I'll recommend the Salina Point lodge. We plan to return as soon as possible and I wish I were on the Island now. Fred
