Welcome to our Southfork Shangri La. Enjoy the end-of-the-road privacy and solitude of our 10 acres of Wyoming Wonderland. No traffic, just birds, bunnies and Bambi’s abounding. Sit on the large deck and enjoy the ever changing light and shadows on the panoramic mountains and views of historic Castle Rock. Take a hike on the BLM land that adjoins our property and wet your line in the beautiful Southfork of the Shoshone River. Roast a hotdog over the riverside fire pit and make s'mores for dessert while watching the river roll by. It’s like camping at Yellowstone without the crowds (and without sleeping in a tent). You may enjoy it so much you forget to go to Yellowstone National Park which is only 60 miles away via the scenic Stagecoach Road.

The cozy guesthouse was renovated with all new furniture, carpet and paint in the Summer of 2009. 300+ thread count cotton sheets and 100% cotton towels await you. When you’ve had enough nature and the outdoors head inside, kick back in the leather recliner and catch up on the news or watch a movie on the new flat panel TV. At night after watching shooting stars and marveling at the Milky Way, enjoy the queen bed in the master bedroom and tuck the kids or your friends into the aspen log bunk bed in the second bedroom, (a full sized bed with a twin on top). Fear of heights? That’s okay -your guests can sleep on the full sized sleeper sofa in the living room instead.

Your vacation would not be complete without visiting the nearby attractions in fabulous Cody, Wyoming. The World Class museums of the Buffalo Bill Historical Center are a must do and you won’t want to miss the free evening gunfight at the Historic Irma Hotel. Of course if it’s Summer that means there is a Rodeo and a variety of musical reviews to be seen in town too. Want something more adventurous? The area has many opportunities for river rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, horseback riding, ATV’s, hunting, fishing and mountain biking. Bring your toys and go jet skiing, sailing, or waterskiing on nearby Buffalo Bill Reservoir. If It’s Winter then there is downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and world class ice climbing. Day trips can take you to Billings or Red Lodge, MT, to the Pryor Mountains to watch the wild horses, to the beautiful Big Horn Mountains, the Beartooths or to Thermopolis for a dip in the hot springs and the tremendous Dinosaur Museum (home to an Archaeopteryx fossil, one of only 10 in the world). History buffs will enjoy visiting the Heart Mountain Relocation Center where the story of the Japanese Americans who were interned by the government during World War II is told.

Nature lovers, sportsmen, adventure lovers, artists, and folks looking for a quiet spot to just sit and relax will love this cozy cottage. Families will appreciate the large grassy yard for the kids to run and play on. There is plenty of parking for all your cars and RV or boat trailers too. So grab your fishing pole, hiking boots and camera and prepare to fall in love with Wonderful Wyoming.

Why the Owner Chose Cody

The Cody area is wonderful. The Mountains, the rivers, the trout, the variety of things to do in the area, the small town attitude with cultural events that are normally restricted to bigger cities, the great entertainment and shopping opportunities all met with our needs. It couldn't be better.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage

Being at the end of the road makes for a lot of peace and quiet that brings a lot of wildlife. Listening to the river while sitting on the deck, fishing right out the back door, sunsets and moon rise over the Mountains, watching the wildlife that shares our yard,(deer, elk, coyotes, rabbits, chukars, hummingbirds, magpies, northern flickers, pine siskens, gold finches, kestrals, hawks, bald eagles, Golden eagles and even the occasional bear or mountain lion). The second largest population of Big Horn Sheep in Wyoming spend the winter in the mountains just down the road. We love going for drives and picnics in the nearby national forest.

Owner's Map of Cody

After nearly 30 years of living in the flat, hot, dry region of West Texas we decided that when we retire we want to see trees, mountains and listen to the sound of running river water for the next 30 years. The quiet, peaceful spot we found is our idea of heaven.

Awesome Place and Views...Best Part of Our WY Visit!

Guest: John & Shelly (Dayton, Ohio)
Date of Stay: 07/24/11 Review Submitted: 08/11/11

Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons were beautiful, but our stay at this wonderful cabin was truly the best part of our first-time visit to Wyoming. Our teenage sons are still talking about getting really close to photo/video deer and rabbits; seeing millions of stars, satellites, and the milky way; and best of all roasting hot dogs and s'mores over the big ol' fire pit at night. The endless sound of the river flowing behind the cabin and awesome views of the surrounding mountains especially during sunrises and sunsets were priceless. With respect to the property listing and pictures, the cabin and property location far exceeded all of our expectations. Robin and Jim were extremely nice and ensured we had a most memorable experience. We especially liked the maps and information on local attractions, restaurants and surrounding areas. Cody is a great little town and we highly recommend visiting the downtown shops, Buffalo Bill Museum, Cody Nightly Rodeo (a must and great time for all), and the historic Dam at Buffalo Bill Reservoir. We highly recommend this cabin to families and couples visiting the Cody/Yellowstone area. If afforded the opportunity, we will definitely stay here again!

Fantastic vacation!

Guest: Robin V2 (Mission Viejo, CA)
Date of Stay: 08/18/10 Review Submitted: 09/13/10

We had a wonderful time staying at the cottage. Inside, the home is very well decorated and had everything we needed to make our stay easy and relaxed. The river is an easy walk from the cottage. My husband caught fish every day, including big brown trout. We went into Cody and enjoyed the museum and the shootout by the Irma Hotel. Yellowstone was a bit of a drive, but well worth it to be able to stay in such a great place. We would highly recommend a stay at this wonderful Southfork retreat.

Great Family Vacation Spot!

Guest: Grant (Winfield, IL)
Date of Stay: 08/04/10 Review Submitted: 08/16/10

This is definitely the place to stay for amazing views in a quiet, secluded spot surrounded by the majesty of the Wyoming mountains. The house is in excellent condition, cozy, and is furnished with all the amenities. The town of Cody is about a 20-minute drive on a very good road and it offers the visitor to the area a variety of restaurants, numerous shopping opportunities, and interesting tourist attractions. Plus, Yellowstone National Park lies 50+ miles to the west and is very accessible for day trips. We had a wonderful vacation there as a family of four. Highly recommended!

“Truly Magnificent” comes to mind to describe our experience here. This place was a great home away from home and provided a great place to come back and relax after visiting Yellowstone and all the surrounding area. The views are one of a kind. Our three kids loved it and had a great time at the river right outside, the kids also enjoyed all the little “bunnies” in the yard. An experience that was one of a kind and we will never forget it. Highly recommend this place.

Home away from Home!

Guest: Danielle (Kansas)

Absolutely loved this cabin! We had 4 adults and 1 infant staying and there was plenty of room for us all. The cabin was very clean and the beds very comfortable. Opening the windows and letting in the cool evening breeze felt so good. After long days of sightseeing, it was so nice to come "home" and watch some TV, relax and enjoy a dinner in! We would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a clean, comfortable home to relax in!

Cody Cabin

Guest: Diane Westerfield (Houston, TX)
Date of Stay: 06/18/10 Review Submitted: 07/02/10

Our family of 2 adults and 2 boys (ages 11 and 13) stayed at the cabin in June and it was exactly as pictured in the photos. The views from front and back are unsurpassed. And the cabin is very clean and very nicely decorated. The beds were extremely comfortable, the best of all the vrbo places we'd rented from in the last 8 or 9 years. Cody is a neat town and we highly recommend the rodeo and Buffallo Bill Historical Museum. And Yellowstone is a short drive away. The owner provided us with all info we needed before our arrival and greeted us when we arrived. Overall, we enjoyed our stay immensely and do not have a negative thing to say about the cabin or the owner. We would definitely rent this cabin if we come back to Cody and will recommend it to our friends and family. Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin with us!
