The seaplane dock at the West Sound Marina is just a stroll from the house and only a 3 mile drive from the ferry landing. There is also a private mooring buoy for those who wish to bring their boat.
Nestled on White Beach Bay cove, this waterfront home overlooks Picnic Island and the West Sound of Orcas Island. The deck and stone patios are perched on a medium bank allowing for relaxing meditative views. A gate and stairs take you down to the beach for some of the best wildlife viewing in the Pacific Northwest. View the eagles that perch daily on the Douglas fir snags of Picnic Island, harbor seals and otters catching fish and crab, Blue Herons, Osprey, Kingfishers and a host of other migrating water fowl.
You will not be disappointed! The house is surrounded by a decades old well maintained Japanese garden. The house itself echoes the tones of the garden, Pacific Northwest and the historical nature of the property and Island.
Orcas Island has been deemed the emerging "Aspen of the Pacific Northwest". There is something for everyone on the Island. Stroll through the quaint East Sound Village with restaurants to satisfy nearly every palate, artwork galleries galore, weekly Farmer's market and other continuous events, parades, music and theatre. Drive up to Mt. Constitution and view one of the top two marine views in the world that stretches from glacier covered volcanoes to the Island studded Puget Sound.
There are miles and miles of hiking and mountain biking trails in Moran State Park, lakes for picnicking, swimming and boat rentals. The Island is popular for street bikers as well, with roads that weave through miles of farm land and rocky shores. The sea kayaking is particularly magnificent. There are fishing charters for salmon, halibut, cod, and whale watching tours with the headliner local Orca whale pod.
