Fair Play house description
Come and enjoy our amazing family home w/Max Size Double Decker Dock, Private Setting, Hot Tub, BIG Screen TV, Pool Room and Free Wi-Fi. You will love having all of the advantages of home without all the stress. Lake Hartwell is an absolutely beautiful place to spend your vacation time. (And YES, we have water. Plenty of DEEP water.)
If you are looking for a break from the stress everyday life brings, you have come to the right place. We have found making the quick drive to the lake is just what the doctor ordered. Come kick back in the large open family / living space and catch the game on the big screen TV. Or perhaps you are the type that likes to have a little privacy to catch up on a good book.
The sun porch off of the main living room has its own fireplace and is just the place for that quiet down time. Pack your cooler and head down to the dock to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. For those who love to grill, you have the option of cooking your lunch or dinner on the grill at the house or perhaps if you prefer use the one down at the dock. We like to turn on the radio down there and just enjoy being away from the hustle and bustle.
Bring your friends and family for a great time on the water. There are local restaurants within 2 miles for those wanting a break from cooking as well.
*57 Steps away from 25+ feet of deep water!

This house is really great. It is fully stocked from the kitchen to the bathrooms to the living areas. Nothing in this house is at the minimum standard-everything is upgraded. We wish we could have stayed even longer. Hopefully we can rent again in the summer time. Thank you sharing you lake home with us!

Spending time with the family in the winter away from Fl.
My family (wife, two adult daughters, two grandkids, one daughters boyfriend and I) absolutely had a awesome time at this truly wonderful home. A great decision to leave south FL and spend the week after Xmas here. There was no need or want for ANYTHING. The amenities to this home are exceedingly plentiful. My personal favorite was watching the sunrise on the lake.... BEAUTIFUL... to say the very least. Another favorite was the enormous shower in the Master Suite, wish I had one like it. We all had fun playing pool, and using the fire place in the living room, what a treat! The upscale kitchen was so nice to cook in, and how great to cook some steaks on the grill while looking at the lake. ON and ON. We collectively did not want to leave. So many things to do close by, we went to several nice waterfalls, and state parks. I happen to love history, and found a 300 year old cemetery in Pickens SC, folks there from the revolutionary war. We did a host of different things that were just a short drive to get to. I loved this house and its proximity to such diversity. My dealings with Mark were very friendly, as we've known each other for some time, I hope he will have us back in the future!

Manager response: Dennis- you and your family are welcome back anytime. After our many discussions, it does seem as if we have known each other for a long time; even though we have never met. There are so many great places to visit in the area (historic, waterfalls, sightseeing, hiking, etc.), I'm so glad you were able to take the time to go visit some of them. I look forward to having you back as a guest in the near future!
A Hartwell Christmas
A Hartwell Christmas
I spent a very rainy weekend here for my husbands family Christmas. We rent a cabin every year. This house is by far the best place we have ever stayed. It has tons more personality than your average rental. The view is amazing! We had the best time. My brother in law cooked an awesome meal fit for a chef. We played games and listened to music. We even brought our little girls pink Christmas tree with us. Everything is at your fingertips. We all had a fabulous time but it just didn't last long enough. Thanks Mark for everything!!!

Manager response: Fantastic Renters and the perfect guest who took great care of my home. So happy you enjoyed the house during your stay and I look forward to having you come back a rent with me again.
Our Extended family of seven people stayed for a local college graduation for three nights in mid-December. We all came away rested, restored, connected. We cooked together in the well-appointed kitchen, chillaxed by the fire, played games around the table. Each morning, we brought our coffee down to the second story dock deck and enjoyed the peace and stillness. The only two cautions are the driveway is crazy steep and so is the walk to the water. Being Flatlanders from the Midwest, we found it fun and different from home. My 78 year old mom made it down and back by taking the arm of my son. Part of the adventure! The game cabinet is perfectly stocked for family connection. Beautifully furnished. Nice to have an assortment of condiments in the fridge. Softest towels ever! We felt like rich tourists sitting in the hot tub :) Thanks for creating a place for great family memories.

Manager response: Come back and visit my home anytime. You were fantastic renters and I'm happy you had a wonderful time and took full advantage of the beauty of the home and its surroundings. Note: Drive is less than 100 feet long and the walk to the water is only 57 paces. On the lake, steep = deep (as in deep water)
Great Lake getaway
Great Lake getaway
How truly wonderful a place this was! We spent thanksgiving holiday with family and future son-in-law. Our three kids (2 teens, one older future bride and fiancé and dog). We rent a lot thru vrbo and sometimes houses aren't exactly what was advertised, but this place is everything they said it was and more. A great house wth hot tub, firewood, two story dock. Everything was like a true luxury rental with no shortcuts. This is more like a family lives there, NOT a rental. First class everything. I can't wait to rent this in the summer. Beautiful lake view in a quiet secluded deep water part of the lake. Caught lots of fish off the dock. The "Martha Stuart" kitchen was elaborate and completely stocked with every known need and utensils (unlike some rentals as we all know). The beds were more comfortable than ours at home.

Manager response: You were such great guest and I'm very happy you enjoyed my home as much as I do; it takes a lot of love and care and that is what I try to provide for my guest renters. I want you to feel at home and that is why I leave the house for you the exact way I leave it for myself. You have access to everything I do at all times. I look forward to having you come back and rent with me again in the near future.
Property As Advertised and As Promised!
Property As Advertised and As Promised!
My family and I rented this house for a weekend of relaxation and college football at Clemson. Happy to say that though the Clemson Tigers didn't live up to expectations the home sure did! The description and photos of the property are right on. The house was clean, well maintained and stocked with everything we needed to feel at home. Mark (owner) is very organized and pays attention to the details. Mark prepared a handy guide to the house with instructions for working the hot tub, satellite T.V. and Wi-Fi as well as tips for local restaurants and stores. The view of the lake from the second story deck is awesome as is the boat dock with second story party deck. The weekend wasn't long enough to take advantage of all the amenities this property has to offer so we are looking forward to our next opportunity to hang out at "Aqua Crib".

How wonderful to discover that we can really get away for a vacation so close to our home in Clemson and at the same time offer a great destination to our out-of-state relatives (who decided to forgo all the great sightseeing nearby off Highway 11 to enjoy the amenities at the house!). The photos on this website truly don't do justice to the great views from the house and the wonderful, expansive upper deck of the dock. We brought our tandem kayak and enjoyed time on the lake, as well as just sat and looked up from our books gazing out at the water. Great touches like a radio down at the dock, plentiful firewood for the great room fireplace, comfortable beds, pillows, and blankets, cushy living room furniture, well-stocked supplies--all sorts of things that are not givens at other rentals. These things made us both feel at home and gave us a special touch of luxury. Very easy and speedy communication with the owner for any needs and questions gave us confidence in this rental. Spry 85 and 83-year old parents went up and down to the dock multiple times a day arm-in-arm (it's a very short descent); yes, they commented they'd love a railing, or at least a rope just for the grade, but they're ready to return as soon as we invite them and book the property again!

This house is really great. It is fully stocked from the kitchen to the bathrooms to the living areas. We didn't eat a single meal out as the kitchen is fully equipped. Nothing in this house is at the minimum standard-everything is upgraded. We wish we could have stayed even longer. The walk down to the dock is steep, but we noticed most if the other houses had much longer walks on equally steep lots. The dock was great. We loved the upper deck. This house has multiple outdoor areas that were perfect for enjoying the beautiful views while relaxing. Thank you sharing you lake home with us! Our dog really enjoyed the house and deck too!

Manager response: Thank You for the kind words about my home; we take great pride in keeping everything clean, new and not cutting corners. After all this is our home and not just a rental house we have on the side. I look forward to having you rent again in the near future, you are always welcome in my home!
Fun in FairPlay
Fun in FairPlay
The home and setting are beautiful with lots of fun. Lots to do, beautiful lake and the water was warm. The only caveat is the walk to the lake is very steep. If this was redone to allow for more gradual incline with steps or used a more meandering approach using more of the property it would be perfect. Can not say enough good things about Carolina Pizza Co which is close by. If you love Mellow Mushroom pizza these guys give them great competition. We are hoping they franchise soon and come our hometown. Thanks Magee's we enjoyed the stay!

Manager response: So happy you had such fun. Regarding the sentiment around the walk, I would like to highlight facts to those who have never been to Lake Hartwell because we put great thought into where and how to position a way down to the water. Steep means deep (as in deep clean water; which we always have). First, most houses are 300-400+ steps away; we are only 57. Second, with a concrete walkway you can roll, pull or drag your cooler up and down; with steps you have to carry everything which is usually heavy. Third, if you do it right; you only go up and down once a day. Down in the morning and up at night. Have fun - walk less!
We had a great stay at the Aqua Crib. The dock is amazing - two levels, partially shaded, electricity, gas grill, deep water, quiet large cove. The house was just as nice! Do keep in mind that though the walk to the dock is short, it's steep. For two pregnant women, the rain-slicked concrete proved to be a little challenging.
