Our retreat has the atmosphere of a high elevation “refuge” in the Alps, with modern amenities and an original design, located right in the Kirkwood valley. Three alcove beds with beautiful views, a comfortable couch, a kitchenette, and a barbecue on the deck, all make for an easy transition into vacation mode. Previous visitors have loved the space and found sleeping in the cedar alcoves incredibly restful.
We also offer the option of an additional bedroom with independent entry and its own full bathroom. The bedroom is furnished with a queen bed and its own television. The retreat is child safe and family friendly. It comes with a collection of children’s books, puzzles, board games and movies. It is ideal for families or groups of three or four friends. During ski season, you can cross-country ski and snow shoe right off the deck or have the shuttle take you to downhill ski lifts a few minutes away. In the summer, simply hike out to the adjacent national forest or any of the surrounding lakes. It is a beautiful place to stay in a beautiful valley.

We stayed a long weekend at TyNej with two young boys. They loved the beds and it reminded me of being on a sail boat with incredible views in the morning. The Apple TV was fun for watching movies with tired little skiers and there were loads of fun books for kids to peruse. The place is also conveniently located and very near the slopes. The ski school parking lot has free parking for families with children - a big plus when you have tired ones and lots of gear to lug around. The owner is also very friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back.
Recommended for:Families with young children.

My family and I stayed for a couple of nights at this unit. We had a little difficulty finding it after dark the first night, but the owner came out into the fog and snow to help us find the address and park our car. He then introduced us to this very charming and private studio unit under the main house. When we awoke the next morning, we were treated to magnificent views from the bunk beds. The studio was nicely appointed and finished with several high tech touches. I found it very comfortable, clean and warm. If the weather had been poor, we could easily have spent an enjoyable day indoors using the various streaming video and audio facilities, however, we had powder calling and spent the days on the magnificent ski slopes at Kirkwood. Having skied at most Tahoe resorts, I can highly recommend both this studio and the ski experience at Kirkwood. Transport from the studio to the resort is as simple as jumping on the courtesy bus. the Independent bedroom was great! My girlfriend and I rented it for 4 nights over NYE and was a great way to stay in Kirkwood Meadows. Charming, clean with a nice bathroom. flat screen with apple tv and wifi made it easy to watch movies. They have done a great job of maximizing the limited space. I highly recommend it.

We had a superb weekend at TyNej. A fantastic location in the mountains-cross country skiing was right out the door. The unit has beautiful wood finishes and the alcove beds are the perfect place to unwind and read a book. The kitchenette is compact but very functional. I would gladly return to rent again.
