Do you see the couch on the porch in the photo above? I'm sitting on it right now on my last night here. I could stay here forever! The house is beautiful, it has everything you need. The photos don't do it justice. They will even stock groceries if you send a list before you come! Mary was completely welcoming and available. It was difficult to snorkel in front of the house as we had some choppy weather, but there's a lovely beach just 5 minutes drive away. The beach is great for exploring though. Turtles, fish, sea anemones, you name it! Tiny lagoon 3 houses down is great for (very) small kids. I loved that the house was set back from the beach, not only is it very private, when it's windy, the lanai is calm. You won't regret staying here.

We recently stayed at the Blue Dragon Beach House the first week of October during our kids "Fall Break". Although we are from the Big Island, we had never been to Puako. The location is fabulous and the house was larger than we thought with a wonderful plan for our family of 6. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and the whole house was SO clean! Absolutely enjoyed the view from the house and lanai. We brought our badmitten set and set it up on the large lawn. We certainly felt right at home and would definately return to this wonderful beach cottage. We couldn't have had a better time. Thankyou Mary and Robbie for your excellent advise and hospitality!

Our party of 4 enjoyed 6 night stay immensely. The location is superb with great ocean access. We particularly liked the lawn and serene setting overlooking the Pacific. We rented kayaks and entered ocean through coral and volcanic rock in front of house. Wish we had also rented snorkeling equipments as well since reefs with fish and sea turtles are abundent at this location. Great room and kitchen were very nice. King bedroom too small. Little to no room for luggage and clothing. Necessary to place luggage in hallway. Also, king bed noisy and not particularly comfortable. This would be our only criticism. Otherwise, we would return here and also highly recommend to others.

We certainly enjoyed our stay at this perfectly appointed house. As a bonus to our delightful stay, the Iron Man was taking place and we went to the end of our quiet street to watch as the bikers road by on the easily accessible main North/South road. There are lovely beaches close to the house by car as well as little sandy coves within walking distance.Turtles in abundance seem to enjoy resting on the lava rocks up and down the beach.Mary and Robbie were very helpful with the information we needed to make a great stay. The house was immaculate! We would certainly return again. We were not interested in a resort experience, but we wanted a house where our family of five (four adults and a nine month old) could be together. This house was perfect for our needs.

This was the perfect house for our family of four during our stay in February. Everything we needed was provided (especially ample towels and beach toys!). The house is so comfortably furnished and situated so conveniently that we didn't feel the need to wander very far. Snorkeling in Puako is wonderful. The kids spent hours on end exploring and splashing in the tide pools. From the porch, we were able to observe whales every day, and there were many turtles resting on the beach. Staying at the Blue Dragon Beach Bungalow made for a very relaxing vacation.

We found Nemo! Not really, but juvenile rainbow wrasses look very similar. We found them, tangs, butterfly fish, file fish and lots more with just a 40ft swim(snorkel)just steps from the house. Puako reef is, after all, one of the premier snorkel/scuba sites in all Hawaii. If you prefer your sea creature encounter a little drier, wade the tidal pools to see turtles, urchins(sea)sea cucumbers and rock skippers. Need drier still? Recline in a lounge chair on a shaded, private knoll and watch whales. It's hard to leave all that, but a mere ten minute drive away is Hapuna Beach, often ranked #1 among all US beaches: white sand, clear water and, except a few days in winter when it's big enough for competition, a gentle surf break. The house is spacious and well-appointed. Strategically placed trees and plantings ensure privacy. 2/24/10-3/6/10 was our 21st visit to the Big Island and one of our best.

We wanted a feel of "Old Hawaii" and it was like going back in time except we had the best of ammeneties. The house was larger than it seemed and equipped with everything we needed. Then you step outside on the porch and see the most incredible views of ocean, whales, turtles, volcano mountains, lava.... we want to go back! Thank you Blue Dragon for the wonderful memories.

We have stayed in this house three times and love the new improvements this year. We plan on renting again in 2011. It is a great private location with a great view of the ocean right off the porch. Whale watching could not be better. It is one of the best stocked rentals we have ever rented.

We had a great time staying at the house over the holiday season. The house was much bigger inside than its appearance looking from the outside and nicely furnished. The back opens to a real nice deck and just a few steps away from the ocean. This house and location is one of the best in Puako for those who want a memorable memory of their Hawaiian vacation to take home to. I would love the opportunity to stay there again. Mahalo!
