Enjoy privacy in this basement studio apartment with separate entrance in a private home in historic Victorian Flatbush. We are located in a neighborhood of 100-year-old single family beautiful Victorian houses with landscaped yards. Adjacent to Brooklyn's newest "restaurant row" with several quality, but reasonable restaurants (American, Italian, Mideastern, Mexican, Asian)and bars. Park Slope and Windsor Terrace, with many more restaurants, are a very short distance. The subway is a five-minute walk and will take you to Midtown Manhattan and all its attractions in about 1/2 hour. Brooklyn's Prospect Park is within walking distance. We are also close to Brooklyn College, the Brooklyn Museum, Coney Island, and New York beaches.
Kennedy and LaGuardia Airports are both about a one-half hour drive. Bring your car! Easy parking is available on the street in front of the house.
A full kitchen is available for your use and can be stocked upon request.
Children and well-behaved pets welcome.

Very nice lodging for a good price - only 25-30 minutes to city from several convenient subway stops. Safe neighborhood, good food close by, and comfortable bed. Host was very accommodating. You can hear your neighbors sometimes, and there isn't much natural light, but if you are travelling to NYC you are probably gone most of the day anyways. Overall I would rate this a very good value for clean and convenient lodging, and I would stay here again.
Recommended for:Tourists without a car, pet owners, age 55+.

My husband and I were supposed to stay at this property 7/24/2010 for one night; however upon arrival after 10:00 pm, we drove the three hour trip home without staying due to the staleness, high humidity and lack of cleanliness.
Owner response:I have found that when someone gets upset about something, they tend to generalize. The apartment was certainly clean, including freshly washed sheets and towels. As to the "staleness" and humidity, we have been having record heat and humidity in New York. The day this guest came was to date the hottest and most humid of the year. I do keep a dehumidfier in the apartment and I believe that if she had turned it on as well as the fans, she would have been comfortable, as were many satisfied guests in the past. I did apologize and promise to refund her rental fee.
