Lake Coeur d'Alene is one of Idaho's largest lakes - from the dock you can cruise up the lake with your boat 15-20 minutes to downtown, or take the 25-minute scenic drive by car on paved Highway 97. You can spend your whole vacation exploring this magnificent lake. Swimming is great from June until the end of September when water temperatures reach 75F. Our dock and beach are good for kids because there is a concrete ramp that goes part way out to about 3.5 foot depth. You can watch them close by from the dock or the decks, and the water is invitingly crystal clear. Our west exposure brings the odd squall, but we provide you free access to a sheltered marina boat slip 5 minutes away for boats up to 30 feet.
You can plan your day over morning coffee on the deck, even listen to music from the deck speakers. Many of our guests enjoy the area golfing at a dozen local courses ranging from lavish to pitch-and-putt. Others come to fish and boat. We have a great central location for fishing and there are many lovely, quiet mornings for water skiing. Some of you come to relax and soak up the views, the gentle sound of the waves, the shade of the lawn, or late Fall sunshine. Our main deck is built around a 100-year old pine, and there are sitting areas there and on the slate patio and upper deck for both sun and shade as the long summer days change. Winter and Spring are wonderful times here when there is a lot of game and few people and boats. It's a four seasons vacation area with four major downhill ski resorts within a one to two hour radius of the house. If you have to do some work, we have cell and cellular broadband coverage, as well as a land line for dial-up. The satellite service features HD packages and local stations.
Check-in/check- out day is Friday, with the exception of Ironman week. No smokers or pets. Shorter stays and lower rates available off-season.

Lake Coeur d'Alene is a beautiful lake, surrounded by large forested areas, relatively undiscovered compared to other lakes of comparable size.
The Unique Benefits of this House
We chose this property because it's in a beautiful, park-like setting right next to the water. The house has many beautiful wood features, including a huge built-in bookcase. Most guests really like the open floor plan of the house and all the windows which look over the water. Some magnificent sunsets have been photographed from our decks.

We had a small family gathering of seven people and this house was wonderful! We were all awed by the attention to detail, quality of the furnishings, well stocked kitchen and the setting, inside and out. The outside decks were perfect from morning coffee to evening wine. We had a great time and would recommend it highly. We'll be back!!

What a great place to spend a week!! The house was everything promised and so much more. Immaculate, spacious, well laid out and stocked with more then expected. Our group consisted of 4 adults/4 children but we never felt crowded. Enjoyed many drinks and moonlight chats on the upper balcony, what a view!! Thanks so much for another great rental experience. If Italy doesn't work out summer of 2011 we will rent this home again.
Owner response:Thank you so much for your kind comments. We are glad you enjoyed your time here and we look forward to seeing your family again.

We had a wonderful week at Driftwood Lodge for our son's Ironman competition. The house was perfect for three couples and two young children with each family having it's own separate quarters and bathroom and everything was in tip-top shape. The view of the lake is lovely and the deck well set up and comfortable. The Cameron's are extremely hospitable and feel like part of your family before you are done. They have certainly done a thorough job of stocking the house. We would certainly recommend this house and would love to return.

Our famly thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Driftwood Lodge. We arrived to be greeted by Tammye, Don and Sarah who gave us a tour of the house, which was really helpful as far as explaining the amenities. The house was immaculate and beautiful. The bathrooms were luxurious. The kitchen was very well stocked. We especially loved the fresh flowers in the foyer which were beautiful all week. The view to the lake was just great. The house is close to the beach, no long winding steps down to the lake, and the house area is enclosed by a gated fence, which was great for the safety of our 2 grandchildren. They enjoyed the water and the swing set on the lawn every day. The air conditioning was great to have as it did get hot. If we got too hot we went inside to play games and read books in the library/loft. The kids caught a few bass right off the dock. We loved the house and relaxation so much nobody really wanted to do many activities off of the property. Some did take a mountain bike ride on the Hiawatha Rail Trail, a very scenic and mostly downhill ride of 15 miles of tunnels and trestles. Silverwood Theme Park was fun for the kids. We also went to Emerald Creek to dig for garnets. It took over an hour to get there but our 6-year old grandson had a great time. You dig pails of dirt, sift the dirt, then wash the stones in troughs of running water. It is run by the Park Service. We did find 2 ounces of garnets. Mostly we just enjoyed being by the lake. We went boating, tubing, swimming and fishing. We sat on the patio at night, played cards and listened to the water lap on the shore. Can you believe it, hardly any bugs to bother us? The big grill on the patio was great for steaks and hot dogs. We did have pretty good hamburgers out one night at Carlin Bay Resort. We boated to Arrow Point Resort intending to eat there one night only to be informed they were closed for a private party. Call first. Since our 24-foot boat was too big to dock overnight at Driftwood Lodge, we had a slip at Carlin Bay Resort, only 8 minutes from the house. It was only a mild inconvenience and all in all worked out pretty well. We just had a great time on our vacation and would recommend this house to friends and relatives. Tammye & Don thought of everything to make our stay so wonderful. Hope to go back soon.

We are experienced property renters in both the US and abroad. The Driftwood was very enjoyable for the following reasons: The property looked better in real life that the photos. -Not always the case everywhere you go these days… Three of the four rooms are suites with their own bathrooms plus there is a bonus bathroom. No waiting! The owner's are a delight to work with. Everything was as they said. The house was well supplied with many things that a guest might forget. They gave us a great orientation. Our group of 8 had plenty of room, there are many areas of the house-both inside or out- to congregate in or to find solitude. -This is not apparent on the web site photos. The lake is huge and you can never run out of places to go and things to do. The house has a great dock for swimming, fishing, snorkeling or boating. Coming from the Midwest it was great to do some boating on bigger water compared to the smaller lakes that we have here. While very large, the lake is still great for tubing and water skiing. My teenagers loved it. I would recommend this destination for a family vacation\reunion, a fishing trip or a romantic getaway. The home was fresh, modern, well furnished and impeccably maintained. We had no problems with anything. Don

Took the family to Driftwood Lodge and we had a great time. We brought two jet skis with us.They provided 4 whips to tie them up at night, have to use anchors during the day. Gas and boat launch are close by.The water was warm and kid friendly for our 7, 8 and 9 year old grandkids (bring water shoes), the decks were fantastic, the house was clean and was supplied with everything we needed, just bring food and suntan lotion. I would recommend this house to anyone. Very nice inside and out.

Stayed for 9 days, the week after labor day, 2005. We had such a great time. Weather was hit and miss. Some days upper 70's some days in 50's. Overall, an outstanding vacation. Several 4 lb. bass right off the dock with plastics across bottom. 7:15 AM and 7:15 PM were best bits, though perch could be caught during day, and catfish (tiny ones, not yellow bullheads) caught after dark on bottom with nightcrawlers. Our 3 young children loved it! Highly recommended.
