Suaimhneas is the Gaelic word for Tranquility (or in Hebrew - Shalom) and perfectly describes the ambience of this unique home. Built in the traditional style of stone with thatched roof, this house has all the character of old world charm but with a modern, bright and airy interior.
From the cedar wooden beams on the ceiling of the main open plan sitting/ dining area to the rustic, terra cotta tiling on the floor this gorgeous Gaelic Cottage is reminiscent of a bygone age. The master bedroom is on the ground floor has a King/Queen size bed and a single bed and has an ensuite and windows facing the ocean. There are three bedrooms upstairs. To the right a twin bedded room and in the centre one single bed in a small room . The bedroom to the left upstairs has a double bed and a single bed and an ensuite. There is a main bathroom with bath and shower on the ground floor. The cottage is perfect as a getaway for a couple, or a family or two families sharing. It is situated 15 minutes walk from the beach at Kells Bay. It is on an acre site, elevated off the N72 (Ring of Kerry road) with a gated entrance for security. There is an Irish pub 700 metres from the door of the house which has Traditional Music Sessions regularly . I mile from the cottage is a Grocery / Petrol / Post Office / Restaurant / Craft & Gift Shop. 7 miles to the right is Glenbeigh where there are many more coffee shops, pubs , restaurants
Supermarkets and Hotels etc. The beach of Rossbeigh is located 2miles from the village of Glenbeigh. The town of Cahirciveen is 15 miles to the left on the N72 and has all the hustle and bustle of a small rural town. Pharmacies, surgeries, hairdressers, hospitals and DIY stores abound.
The cottage is a great location from which to tour all points of interest in the South West of Ireland, being 2 - 3 hours drive approx. from the cottage yet is wonderfully situated for full advantage of spectacular views of the Famous Ring of Kerry with its incomparable mountain and ocean views A well equipped kitchen and full laundry facilities( washer / dryer / iron etc) are available at the cottage . I stayed at this cottage for a week with 6 other people. We had lots of room and were very comfortable. The view, the cottage, and the area cannot be described. Every picture I have doesn't come close to capturing the beauty of this area. We went out sight seeing every day and couldn't wait to get back and re-live the day at our comfortable cottage. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to fully enjoy this part of Ireland. I cannot imagine going back to Ireland and not staying here. It was truly a home away from home! Caitin's Pub is just down the street and we frequented this place often. The staff was so pleasant - I just love Jack, Cathy, and Pat - they made things so much more enjoyable and were always accommodating. They treated us like family.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

A group of friends and I, totaling 7 in all, recently stayed in this delightful cottage at the beginning of September. The cottage exceeded our expectations in it's beautiful location, it's spaciousness and charm. On our drive from Shannon airport, we wondered often when we would reach the ocean. We drove around a bend shortly before reaching Kells and there it was. Sweeping ocean views. The photos on this website do not give justice to the amazing ocean view from the cottage, nor do they adequately portray how attractive the cottage is. There are front and back patios, full functioning kitchen (which we put to good use!), 3 bathrooms, and plenty of room to fit us all very comfortably. We had a wood fire every night in the fireplace, which was very cozy. We did a lot of sight seeing, hiking, shopping and pubbing and looked forward to returning to the cottage after each adventure. We very much enjoyed Caitin's pub, conveniently located just 700 meters from the cottage. The food was great there, the staff hospitable, and we LOVED the sheep herding show! I have every intention of returning to this cottage again some day, and I tell you... I did not want to leave it.Recommended for: Adventure seekers.

Staying in this home was the peak of our family's Irish vacation. The location was very handy to hiking, biking, roaming around the countryside, the ocean and beach, horseback riding, not to mention all of the historical parts of the Ring of Kerry. We found the house well maintained, clean and very comfortable. There was plenty of room for all of us, and the family room/kitchen was very relaxing! Thank you for sharing your house with use, we wish we had booked another week!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
