We couldn't imagine a nicer setting for a weekend/vacation home. Our cottage was the ideal place for our young, beach-loving family. Pretty grounds for the children to play on, a view of beautiful Lake Como, Spring Lake and walking distance to New Jersey's sparkling shore.
As city dwellers, who often vacation by the sea on an island in Greece, we miss the sight, smells and sounds of the sea when not there. Our breezy, sun-filled cottage, by the shore is the perfect escape when we want to feel the comforts of our island home. We are tucked away on a quiet, sweet country lane with lovely neighbors including the resident duck family that keeps the cottage alive, even when we are gone. Our cottage has just enough of the comforts of a modern home, allowing you to relax, be comfortable and forget the hustle and bustle of city life.
Upon entry our 'island' sitting room, decorated in cobalt blue and white reminds guests that they have arrived at the Shore. Past the tangerine entry is our euro-chic living room with a view of the garden and lake. Three ample-sized bedrooms with new mattresses, cotton bed linens, down pillows and comforters. A linen closet just outside the bathroom houses fresh cotton towels. The newly installed birch kitchen seats 6 comfortably and opens to the back yard/patio where you could eat al fresco or swing lazily in our hammock whilst sipping iced tea with a fresh sprig of mint from our herb garden. BBQ at home or eat out at the many restaurants in the area.

There aren't words to express what a wonderful time my husband and I had at this cottage, but I'll try! No detail was overlooked at this charming 3-bedroom property within view of Lake Como and a short walk to the beach. Although we went in the off-season, we spent a relaxing week taking walks around the beautiful neighborhood, around the Lake, and on the beach; cooking in the kitchen that had everything we could need for a five course meal; in addition to reading, relaxing, writing, and playing games in the cleverly designed light-filled cottage. As a writer, I found the ample light and abundance of writing nooks ideal and I'm happy to say I was so productive during our week that I truly felt like it was a retreat. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative, especially to someone with a family and the only thing I can say about the listing is that the photos don't do it justice! The owners are very organized and pleasant and I felt that they were truly invested in our comfort. It's easy to see that the family has put a lot of love and care to make this cottage a home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

My family and I just returned from a fantastic weekend at this house, and we could not wait to write a review. We have rented summer homes many times, but never have we encountered a rental that had all the feelings of a primary residence. Gone were the kitchy fake flower wall hangings, cheap hospital bedsheets, uncomfortable couches and spartan furnishings that usually come with rental homes. This house clearly was designed to be lived in comfortably - the Tempurpedic mattress pads, the bright, new and soft sheets and towels, the seemingly brand new kitchen and bathroom, the entirely babyproofed house and toy filled kids' room that had our daughter begging to stay longer, and the lovingly cared for backyard where we enjoyed countless iced teas and lemonades all made us feel as if we had come home. The location was perfect, it was close enough to walk to the beach, but far enough to allow us to take peaceful midday naps with the windows open during the busy Memorial Day weekend. We feel fully relaxed and refreshed after just three days in this lovely home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: I am a full-time Mom that is always working on creative projects; I am very involved in our 2 childrens' lives. My husband is in the hospitality industry. Having always worked in luxury properties, he has a keen sense of what a guest wants. We love entertaining and having friends around. Though we live in the city, we have a deep appreciation for the simple things country life can provide. We enjoy gardening, antiquing, good food, and good company. Why the Owner Chose Spring Lake:
We first visited the family cottage 20 years ago, where after dinner with family, my then boyfriend and I took a walk and by the reflection of a big August moon on the lake, he proposed marriage. This area and cottage has had a special place in our hearts since then. In 2009, to our surprise, our dear Uncle turned the cottage over to our family to enjoy. Our young teens love it and the freedom and peacefulness that comes with it.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We are a just about an hour and a half away from(midtown) New York City and Philadelphia. We are located by Lake Como and just 2 city blocks from the Ocean. Sounds of nature surround you as you wake. An early morning jog around the lake and up to the ocean are sure to start the day well. Fresh baked goods could be had at several local bakeries. Good quality American fare, including seafood can be found just a bike ride away. Being 'city kids', our children do not know the freedom of riding their bikes and taking long walks without us. As soon as our car pulls up the lane and we hear the crunching of gravel under our tires, we know that we have arrived to our little 'peace' of paradise. We always wrap up the evening by taking a walk up to the ocean.
