Looking for a true Northern Wisconsin vacation on the famous Manitowish Chain? The Otter House is both spacious and rustic. "We didn't realize your place was so big" and "Wow - you really are right on the lake" are the two most frequent comments we hear.
The Otter House features REAL privacy and a sandy shoreline with access to the entire 10-lake Manitowish Chain in Manitowish Waters. Relax on our large wrap-around deck and new dock, swim from our beach, catch fish right off our fishing pier. Situated on a bay on Rest Lake, the property is only minutes from the conveniences, shopping and dining in town. You can easily go there by boat or take the bike path.
WE HAVE SNOW! TRY US THIS WINTER, WHEN THE BEAUTY AND QUIET ARE UNSURPASSED.

BRAND NEW KITCHEN APPLIANCES SUMMER 2011
Why do we call it the Otter House? A family of the curious animals frequents our shores, as do mink, loons and bald eagles. The Otter House encourages you to spend time outdoors even as it provides all the comforts of a four bedroom, all-season home. Come any season: fall colors are spectacular; snowmobile and ski trails are easily accessed in our quiet, white winters; spring walleye fishing is great on the lake; and in summer the whole Northwoods comes alive!
Wood paneling and vaulted ceilings throughout, as well as a spectacular stone fireplace add to the ambience. Rest Lake is well named. Relax and enjoy!
Located just off Hwy. 51, we are one minute from the Manitowish Waters Airport and Community Center with its kid-friendly playground, golf range, tennis and platform tennis courts. Rhinelander Airport (RHI) is a 50 minute drive.

Our family had an outstanding vacation at the Otter House during the last week of June, 2011. The boys enjoyed playing in the sandbox and swimming off the dock, which is located only about 30 yards down from the house. The motor on the boat worked perfectly, and the fishing was excellent, especially the smallmouth. We appreciated all the elbow room, both inside the house and on the huge wraparound deck. We look forward to returning next year!

Our family of 6 adults and 3 children 3 and under spent a cold, rainy June week at Otter Lake and had a fantastic time! The cabin is very spacious and clean with everything that you'll need (including a large dog bed!) The kids had a lot of room to run around inside, and when it quit raining loved fishing from the dock and playing in the sandbox. We caught fish from the dock and the surrounding waters - enough to have 5 meals. The lot is very large and private, we could not see any of the neighboring houses, the road behind the house is quiet with few travelers. The wi-fi was a great addition so our daughter could continue with her grad class. If you are looking for a peaceful place to get together with a large group, this is a great place!

My family vacationed for a week at The Otter House in June of 2011. We had a fun week complete with good weather for swimming, sitting on the huge deck and fishing! Our friend caught a 48" Musky by the island closest to The Otter House! What a great time!
Owner response:Well, not everyone is quite that lucky! But the fishing has been excellent this year for muskie, walleye and smallmouth bass. And our bay is about as likely a spot as any.

This is the best place we have found in Vilas county! Its clean, comfortable and spacious, with lots of homey touches. It was great having two bathrooms and we really appreciated the indoor fireplace in October. Beautifull setting, great location, we'll be back!

We have been meeting every fall for almost 20 years for a fall color weekend. This year ranked among the top three in fall colors and accomodations. The owners went above the call of owners to be helpful with ideas for local eateries and local "special places". Our visit to the cranberry bog was a neat experience and to the lodge (Little Bohemia) where John Dillinger escaped was enjoyed by all.Great eats at the lodge and taste testing at the bog. I would recommend visiting during colorama weekend if you want a leisurely time to visit. The cabin was well maintained and well supplied and the lake and the colors provided an excellent atmosphere.

The Otter House is a perfect place to get away! We rented the house for a month this summer and experienced clear waters, warm weather, an enchanting chain of lakes and abundant wildlife. As a family who loves to kayak, canoe and boat nothing is better than the Manitowish Chain and Vilas county. This cabin is in a quiet location readily accessable to lots of great paddling trips. For us a dream come true! We discovered on arrival that the beauty of the cabin, deck and surrounding forest were even more beautiful than the photos. The cabin is very clean and well equipped, vaulted ceilings in every room give a feel of wonderful spaciousness. A nice desk overlooks the water and is a perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee while reading morning e-mails. Our extended family shared a week at the cabin and we are looking forward to future visits!

We Didn't Even Mind The Weather

We had a wonderful time spending our mini-vacation at the Otter House. The weather was wet, but we didn't care. When we got too cold fishing in the rain, we came in, built a fire in the beautiful fireplace, and just enjoyed the warmth and the quiet. The photos attracted us to the house and they accurately depicted it's beauty. I would definitely reccomend this property to friends. I could also reccomend it to family, but most live up North. We would like to recommend the new cafe in the LaPortes Super Market building, formerly the Village Soda Grill. The lunch we had was great! We also had a very nice dinner at the Rustic Manor. It was a great time for all of us. Thank you.
Owner response:Much as we hate to have it rain on our vacationers, we sorely needed it! You never know in the northwoods - our goal is to have our guests enjoy themselves, whatever the weather.
