Very Dirty And Dated

Upon our arrival we found the home very dirty. The bathroom floors have never been cleaned. I called the owner once I arrived and it took him over 5 hours to even return my call. He sent the cleaning service back out and they did nothing. I had to make another call and she came out again and did nothing again. The floors in that house have never been cleaned nor the bath rooms floors. The refrigerator did not cool our food so we lost $300.00 worth of food and the owner did nothing about it after 5 phone calls. The pool and the front and back porch were also dirty called the owner again and he did nothing. The pictures are touched up trust me that home does not look nothing like the pictures at all. In the end we were not happy at all and in the end we found he over charged us as well and did nothing to make up for our miserable stay. The name of the cleaning company is Island Girls and if you are using them to clean your property you need to change!

Owner response:I’ve been renting this property for 9 years now and this is the first negative review I’ve gotten. Although the vast majority of my renters are very happy, I do occasionally get someone who I just can’t please. The house was cleaned before this guest arrived and everything was done just as always. Britney (my cleaning girl) cleaned the inside of the house and I cleaned the pool and deck and mowed the lawn. And, just as always, I inspected her cleaning when she was done and everything seemed fine. The day after the guest arrived, she called and said there was some dirt on one bathroom floors and she found a bread tie on the floor in the first floor living room. So, I called Britney and asked her to re-mop all the floors, which she did. It takes her over an hour round trip to drive out to the house so, she’s not going to go to that trouble and “do nothing” as the guest states. The next day the guest calls again and complains about the floors so, I had Britney return and re-do them again and the lady was still not happy. It was Britney’s opinion that the guest was dirtying the floors. And, there is nothing wrong with the refrigerator. When the guest arrived she didn’t think it was cold enough and started changing the coldness settings and ended up causing ice to form which blocked the flow of air which then caused the refrigerator portion to not cool properly. I discussed this with her and had her put the settings back and the fridge was back to normal the next day. So, the guest caused the problem with the fridge and then blamed me for it. After all this, the guest then asked for a refund so, I suspect this was the whole reason for all of her complaining. When I wouldn't she got mad and decided to "punish" me by writing a bad review. Like I said, there are some people you just can’t please.

Hi Edward! Just to let you know, we did enjoy our stay at the house. We loved the layout, which gave plenty of room and a sense of privacy for the 3 families (2 with children)! And there was plenty of play room. Liked the pool. There were plenty of towels and paper products which were appreciated. When do you start booking for next year? One of my son-in-laws is deploying for Afghanistan in October and we're not sure yet when he will return so we're trying to get a better idea to include him. Thanks again for a wonderful week!! Edward, I just wanted to let you know what a great time we had at your villa. It is a beautiful place and the beach was right out the door. We really enjoyed the screened in porch. We sat there at night and enjoyed the sounds of the ocean. The fact that it was a gated community was especially nice. Thank you also for the use of your sports card. Edward, Thank you so much for allowing my family to rent your house this past weekend. It was great seeing our son who just got back from Iraq after 18 months, seeing our newest granddaughter who is 1 month old, and having our daughter with us. The "kids " are grown and married, but they are still kids to us. Being with them and their spouses and the two grandchildren was wonderful, thanks to you. The house was great and accommodated us without a problem. The ocean was choppy, but we only had a couple of short rain showers to mar the day. The pool was a godsend. Our two grandsons, ages 4 and 5, just started swimming lessons this summer to surprise their dad when he returned from Iraq, and he was ecstatic! Again, thanks so much! Edward, On behalf of my family and myself I would like to thank you very much for providing a wonderful stay at your beach house. We had a grand time. The house was just right for our family and we spent as much time sitting around the kitchen table catching up as we did out on the beach. It was perfectly situated for visiting our relatives living in Mt. Pleasant and as a jumping-off place for our trips up-country to Little Mountain and Pomaria. Edward, We just got home from our week long vacation on Isle of Palms. I was really surprised at how large and beautiful the home was. With nine of us, we had plenty of room and we all enjoyed our stay. My youngest daughter is 14 and she brought a friend along and they really enjoyed the pool. We liked the location of the house being across from the beach access. Everything we needed was there in the house. We have been coming down to Isle of Palms since 1996 and we love it!!! We went into Charleston to the market and took a carriage ride through the city. The only thing we didn't get to do was to jet ski at the tidal wave Marina. They were all booked up. We usually jet ski and para-sail. My husband got to golf three days. The neighbors around us were really friendly too!!! I just wanted to let you know we love the beach on Isle of Palms and everyone in our group just loved the house. Again, I thank you so much for everything. Sandy Hixson

Edward, Well, it looks like my Mom beat me to the punch in sending you a thank you. My family and friends came from Utah and Nebraska and are ready to come back again! I want you to know that the house was absolutely WONDERFUL! It was perfect for our extra large group. We didn't feel overcrowded at all. We were able to mix and mingle, sit and talk, get away by ourselves, enjoy the pool or head for the beach and still enjoy one another! There were lots of kids and they were NEVER bored! (which is totally amazing if you have kids of any age!) We were able to have a wonderful graduation party for our oldest daughter and, again, the house was perfect - lots of cooking space to prepare the food, lots of parking, lots of room to mingle and some of our guests even enjoyed a moonlit walk on the beach! Everyone who visited or just stopped by loved the house and the location. Be assured I am letting them know that if they want a great place to stay at Isle of Palms this is it!!! When I started planning for this celebration back in the Fall, I searched quite a bit and looked at lots of possibilities before I came across your property. Many had parking restrictions, occupancy restrictions, visitor restrictions etc...and were a whole lot more expensive! Anything that allowed for a group our size was several thousand dollars per week and still had all the other restrictions. The fee for the use of this house for the week is MORE than reasonable especially with its amenities and location (2 blocks from the beach). I just can't express to you what this week meant to all of us. As my Mom told you, "it was the most relaxing vacation I've ever had." We can't wait to do it again! Sincerely, Stacy Zoucha
