Location: Marathon, Big Bend Country, Texas, USA
Accommodations: House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)
Keywords: House
This is the house to truly enjoy the laid back attitude and quietness of the Big Bend region in Far West Texas.
It is one of the original Sears and Roebuck houses, delivered to Marathon by train in the 1920's. Two years ago it was remodeled to allow for a spacious kitchen and family room, with all new appliances, including the washer and dryer in the laundry room. On a corner lot and with a large fenced backyard, the BlueGreen House is within walking distance of the entire town of Marathon. Please note that there is no TV in the house; few households in Marathon seem to use much TV, for various reasons. Both bedrooms have new AC units, although for much of the year the open windows and fresh air are preferable.
The town of Marathon (population around 350) is a great place to explore the Big Bend region, because of it's close proximity to the National Park and the other area towns. Most visitors find far more to see and do here than the average vacation time allows.
Hope you enjoy your visit.

My family wanted a unique Thanksgiving holiday, and we found it at the Blue-Green house in Marathon. The location of the house made it easy to explore Marathon while giving us the quiet getaway we were looking for. This cute cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and was the perfect base for sightseeing around the Big Bend area. We were particularly happy to find a rental that was so accommodating of our 3 year old dog. We're already looking forward to our next trip!

My husband and I stayed here for a week between Xmas and New Years and we loved the town, loved the house! Marathon is a great location to check out all of the surrounding towns - Marfa, Alpine, Ft. Davis - but enjoy the solitude of the small, secluded town of Marathon. The house is older, but updated with all of the amenities you need - highly recommended!
