I would recommend this house to anyone. We were a family of four with a dog, and we had a great time. The house is very well kept, with a fully stocked kitchen, and plenty of books and DVDs for downtime. There is an amazing jetted bathtub in the master bedroom, and plenty of places to lounge around and enjoy the fresh ocean air. It's very easy to keep the house clean, since it has an outdoor shower and laundry facility. There's even a boogie board and wetsuit, but unfortunately the wetsuit wouldn't fit me. The location is happily situated near Santa Cruz harbor, and between Capitola and downtown Santa Cruz. There are a couple very good restaurants within just a couple minutes drive, some within a few blocks walk. The beach is very close and allows bonfires before 10pm, and is extremely dog-friendly. Since we have a dog, we were very happy to be able to let him off his leash and enjoy himself. Only issue is we expected there to be some beach towels for use, but we didn't see any. Other nice surprises more than made up for that, however.

Since receiving this review, we have marked the outside of the outdoor storage drawer set with " beach towels" to make it easier for our guests to find the beach towels that we provide. Great place for our family "Beach Week" vacation

Our extended family enjoyed the perfectly located and exquisitely appointed and maintained home on East Cliff Drive. Our family of 5 adults, 3 children and 1 bichon frise spend one week each summer at the beach in Santa Cruz. Of the places we have stayed over the past 7 years this one is the best maintained and most convenient to the pet friendly beach we have found. The owner is truly invested in making the renters experience a memorable one. Excellent in every respect!!

I can't say enough good things about this vacation home. My family had a wonderful time! The property is welcoming and thoughtful in details. It is immaculate and very well stocked and organized...wonderful kitchen supplies and equipment, numerous items for the beach and a very large selection of movies. They thought of everything. The location is fabulous; right across from the beach. The owner was very helpful and a pleasure to work with. We loved and appreciated the basket of goodies that was there on our arrival! I would definitely recommend this home to my family and friends and hope to visit again soon!

The Nicest House We've Ever Rented

We've been using rentals homes instead of hotels for several years now and this house is hands-down the nicest, most comfortable, cleanest, most well equipped house we've ever stayed in! Each person that walked into the house had the same reaction, "Wow! This place is awesome!" We were in town for our youngest son's wedding and were able to relax with and get to know the new in-laws in a homey comfortable atmosphere. Having the room for the whole family to get together to cook, watch TV, go for walks on the beach, read, or just sit and talk, made this stay most memorable. There was a Farmers Market each Sunday within easy walking distance and the house is halfway between Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and Capitola which are both walkable (even for short tubby people like me). The owner is friendly, easy to contact, and responds VERY quickly to any questions you might have. For us, the house was WELL WORTH THE PRICE.

Yellow Beach House vacation is a MUST!

Fantastic Beach Rental We can’t say enough good words about the “Yellow Beach House” & the owners. The home is in a very good location--Close to Santa Cruz Boardwalk and marina as well as old town Capitola. Just a short drive to Monterey and Carmel. It is about 4 houses from a beautiful beach. The home has ocean views from the front decks & porch area. It is modern, very well maintained and was extremely clean and organized. It had all the amenities that you want in an “exclusive” beach rental including rear & side patio with chimnea & wood. A laundry room and outside shower (with HOT water) were provided. The kitchen was well equipped & had supplies including coffee, spices, all cooking utensils, dishes, etc. Particularly noteworthy is the quality and condition of the bedding and towels-looked and felt new. Quality shower products were also included. The owners were extremely attentive before arrival & were very prompt to answer all questions. They also left a “goody” basket to welcome us. It does not get better than this!! The owners & home indicate professionalism at every turn. Our total security deposit was returned within a few days of our departure. Thank you to the wonderful owners for a fantastic 4 days in their Yellow Beach House. A return visit is a “must” for our group.

Nicest beach house

This is one of the nicest beach houses I've ever rented. These are first-class accommodations, with upgraded appliances, nice tilework and the coolest bathroom fixtures, plus the view from the balcony is pretty nice. But what I like best is having coffee on the back patio on a sunny Santa Cruz day. The location is really convenient to just about anything you'd want or need and the beach is right across the street. I would recommend renting this property anytime you need a house in Santa Cruz. The owners left a basket of goodies from their garden and the peach perserves were delicious.

Just Perfection

This is the nicest rental home I've ever stayed in -- and I've been to quite a few. Utter comfort and luxury. Every time you thought, "You know what I could use right now ... ?" you'd turn around and it would be RIGHT THERE! We felt so incredibly welcome and taken care of. Super close to the beautiful beach, and the outdoor shower made it easy to rinse off afterward. Halfway between charming Capitola and the bustling Boardwalk -- cute neighborhood. Owner is very attentive, accessible, kind -- she brought us veggies from her garden. Well-stocked kitchen, comfy beds, big TVs, tons of movies, immaculate bathrooms, amazing jacuzzi tub and shower in master suite. Spacious and lovely. Would stay there again tomorrow.

Santa Cruz Beauty

I stayed for a weekend with my four daughters at this wonderful and immaculate home. The balcony off the Master bedroom overlooking the ocean (where we enjoyed champagne on our first evening) , the wonderfully appointed kitchen, fabulous terrace with chiminera (which we used) and large grill (which we didn't), extra-comfortable beds and linens, it was perfect for us. We brought food in from nearby restaurants and ate on the terrace instead of eating out as we had planned, we loved the house so. The outdoor shower was spectacular and the top of the line washer and dryer were the largest we had ever seen, perfect when at the beach. Jim and Doretta provided everything to make us happy, such as beach chairs and towels for the short walk to a great, expansive beach. Some of us walked into Santa Cruz center, one biked. At about three miles from center it was close enough to get to easily but far enough away to be blissfully quiet at night. We walked to a farmer's market on Sunday morning, just a few blocks away. We had a truly enchanted weekend. And the ocean, the ocean, the ocean. We all hope to return one day and are happy to recommend it. It is a few weeks since we were there and I am still glowing with the memory. Thank you Doretta and Jim.

weekend getaway

My mother and four (adult) sisters and I rented this place for a birthday weekend getaway. It's a beautiful location just a block from the beach. Downtown is a short drive or bike ride (or long walk) away. The home is clean, well-maintained and has wonderful amenities. Doretta, the owner, is very responsive and mailed my mother a forgotten item and returned the security deposit the very next day. This home was an excellent value for the quality. Highly recommended.

There were 6 of us - our son & his sig other, my cousin and his wife & 2 dogs. We had a wonderful time & the house is magnificent. It has obviously been completely renovated from the studs out with excellent taste and the finest fixtures & details. I would be proud to live in this home and the rest of my family would agree. We felt like we were in a very luxurious environment & were sorry when our stay was over. The house has everything you need and then some - like the jacuzzi tub in the master. We all took turns with it. The kitchen is better than ours at home which is saying a bunch, and is fully equipped with beautiful dishes and tableware plus every gadget you could think of. Access to the beach is easy - about a minute across the road - and the beach is beautiful. To say it is dog friendly would be an understatement. This place is a jewel.

We stayed for New Years, and it was oh, so wonderful! The house was beautiful, luxurious, sparkling clean and very comfortable. The owners are easy to work with and communicate at every step. Our stay at the East Cliff Beach Yellow House was everything we imagined and so much more. There was not one amenity that was not provided; from a fully equipped kitchen, to an abundance of bath towels, to any beach item you could possibly need. We felt at home, which made our trip relaxing and enjoyable, for both ourselves and our two year old adventurer. Our family will be back again! We spent a lovely weekend here. The house is fabulous for a large group. It is a very short walk to the beach. We didn't have a pet with us, but the nearby beach is very pet-friendly. The house has a great kitchen and outdoor patio space for cooking and eating outdoors. The owners have furnished many little things that make the stay both easy and enjoyable. Beds are very comfy. I would definitely recommend it.
