This summer house is located on Silver Eel Cove, on the west end of Fishers Island, near Race Point. Fishers Island has easy access via Amtrack/I-95 and 40 minute car ferry. Our house is near town, the Hay Harbor Club, Fishers Island Yacht Club and community fitness center. The house was built in 1906 as a Quartermaster's house as part of Fort Wright, and has many wonderful historic touches (tin ceilings, original fir hardwood floors, etc). The house has an easy, open flow, and is great for entertaining and hosting a large family. The two spacious decks augment the entertaining space. Besides a wood-burning Franklin stove, there is no heat.
There is an eat-in kitchen with great views of the cove and Fishers Island Sound, and the dining room table seats 8-10 comfortably. The property is level and has both a lily pond and a bog garden as well as significant flat lawn. Silver Eel Cove is great for fishing, swimming, and watching sailboats pass through Fishers Island Sound. The property is nearly contiguous to acres of land trust, seaside open space and beautiful, empty beaches as well as the breathtaking Race Point with world famous surf casting and fly-fishing.
