David and Brenda were the most welcoming of hosts to their cozy and inviting cottage in Carmel. So many nice amenities ...drinks, snacks, coffee and lovely bottle of wine. This is a great location to see,so many things....went to Ocean beach and strolled thru the galleries in Carmel, played golf in Pacific Grove and hiked in Big Sur. David had great suggestions for Carmel restaurants...loved Grasings and Bistro Giovanni and watched Kentucky Derby enjoying a wine flight at Vino Napoli. Of course, I also has to visit Nepenthe and the weather was fantastic. Coming back to my "home base" at Le Petite Papillion made every day perfect. Thanks David and Brenda!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

I just returned from celebrating my birthday with a friend in Carmel by the Sea. We had the treat of staying in the studio at Brenda and David's place. We were blown away by all the personal touches and attention to detail. It was so nice to come back to the studio in the evening to find candles lite on the darling patio. The place was VERY comfortable and had everything we possibly needed. It is in the perfect location...close to Hwy 1, the beach and downtown. This is the place to stay when visiting Carmel. Thank you again Brenda and David!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

My husband and I have rented numerous homes through various online sites. Basically, we are pleased so we keep going that route. However, Le Petite Papillon was beyond our expectations! If you fell in love with the pictures as I did - book it! Because actually, this is the one place that is even better than it looks and sounds! Yes, it's small... but delightful. Don't forget to consider the lovely garden areas as part of your studio! There is SO much to see and do in the area that coming home to this European setting is just fabulous. Above all, David and Brenda make it so special with breakfast food, snacks, and drinks. What a joy to begin by enjoying the space and area instead of rushing to a grocery store! Carmel area has become our number one favorite place. Should we be so lucky as to return, Le Petite Papillon will be included in our vacation again. We were visiting from Scotland in February intending to tour but, on discovering how tiring this was, decided to spend a few days in Carmel instead. The area in general is beautiful and this property in particular proved to be a good choice. Comfortable, relaxing and I can only echo all the other reviews. Any further comment from us would be superfluous.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

in our 3rd visit to carmel from san francisco -- for thanksgiving 2012 -- we found the PERFECT place to stay, in le petit papillon. brenda and david have anticipated every little detail - warmth, comfort, quiet, privacy, amenities, setting. we arrived to find a beautiful, lovingly decorated space, snacks and wine awaiting. theirs is a gem of a place. brenda's gardens and decorating inspired me! I would recommend this property to visitors who want a comfy, inviting spot also within walking distance to downtown carmel and the beach. look no further in carmel - this is the perfect spot. we'll roost here again in 2013 for carmel's famous bach festival.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We stayed at Le' Petit Papillon in late October and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. David was a wonderful host from the start, promptly responding to emails, providing restaurant/winery recommendations and offering to make dinner reservations. Once we arrived on site the hospitality continued with a lovely note welcoming us, chocolates on our pillows, a bottle of wine and fresh flowers. The decor is beautiful, bed was comfortable and the cottage had everything we needed! You are only a short walk to the village and the scenery along the way is not to be missed. We felt like characters in a fairytale exploring the streets of Carmel and look forward to coming back some day.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Our stay was amazing! We loved the place. Every detail was thought of & the space smelled so good! We felt very at home, drinks were stocked in the fridge, coffee, little cookies, chocolate. There was shampoo, conditioner, floss. It was a very special place and we will be back! My only suggestion would be a fan. David and Brenda are some of the best hosts I've encountered. Their little studio is so charming - it manages to be both spacious and intimate. My husband and I spent 4 days at Le Petit Papillon for our 2-year anniversary, and it was the perfect home-base for our time in Carmel. We walked down to Carmel village each morning (a 15-20 min. walk), which was a lovely way to wake up before grabbing breakfast at any of Carmel's many restaurants. We also drove to other destinations in-and-around Carmel, and the Petit Papillon was such a great spot to come home to each night, and wake up in each morning! We got so relaxed that we also spent almost a whole day in the studio, reading our books on their comfy couch and enjoying the complimentary bottle of wine, and boxes of snacks. They really have thought of everything. Best part of all - we were admiring their garden, which is beautiful - and Brenda very generously sent us home with succulent cuttings to plant in our own garden, as well as a big bouquet of dried hydrangea. So kind! Now whenever I look at these keepsake plants, I will remember our blissful 2-year anniversary in Carmel!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Carmel by the Sea is a fairy tale town and staying at Le Petite Papillon made it all the better.We are so happy with our stay - when we arrived we were greeted with a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers, chocolates and a lovely note welcoming us and wishing us happy anniversary. The also left us tasting cards to a couple of the local wineries which was such a nice treat. The owners checked in on on us multiple times via email and personal notes left on our doorstep. The space true to the images and was plenty of room for the two of us. The kitchen was also stocked with coffee, tea, water, juice, oatmeal, essentially everything to start the day off right. The bathroom was stocked with plenty of big towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. The walk in closet was useful to store our large suitcases. I spend a lot of time traveling for business and this is one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in away from home. I would most definitely recommend this VRBO to anyone traveling to Camel.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
