Spend a once-in-a-lifetime experience you will treasure forever in this never-before-available elite private residence renowned for having THE best view on the Big Island. Your private ohana, in the lower level of that private residence and with its own private entrance, is on a private road in the wall of sacred Waipi'o Valley, known by the Hawaiians for having the most powerful mana (magical creative energy) in all of Hawaii. The only resident on the property is the professional on-site manager upstairs, it is comparable to a bed-and-breakfast atmosphere and is extremely private and peaceful.
Look down 1000 feet on a black sand beach, with the blue ocean and Maui in the distance, the vast lush green of taro patches and trees spreading in the Valley below. Waterfalls run from the opposite Valley walls . . . if you are fortunate enough to be here when it rains, extra waterfalls appear, some very large, and rainbows arc across the Valley in the morning light. There is a reason that this place is considered to be magic!
It is an ideal location for a personal retreat of hours or days, a secluded space in a typically crowded place to find yourself and your connection to the energy of Hawaii. Come alone or with someone you care for. To give you the opportunity to do so is why we have a two-night minimum, you will get even more from an even longer stay. You are one hour and fifteen minutes from either Hilo or Kona airport, the convenience of the location will depend entirely on your planned activities here . . . it's a very big island, there will likely be some driving at some point! For example this location is an hour closer than Kona to the Volcano and the green Hamakua Coast with all the waterfalls . . . and of course Waipi'o Valley . . .
From your door you can walk down into the Valley if you wish (not an easy hike but worth it), you can also simply enjoy the sound of the waves crashing on the beach below. You do not need a four-wheel drive vehicle to reach the accommodation . . . although you will, with permission, drive a short way past signs that say you do! (if you want to drive down into the Valley, that you would need a 4 x 4 to do)
The basics of shopping are available in charming Honoka'a, twelve minutes away, more is available in Waimea thirty-five minutes away, and more yet in Kona or Hilo, each an hour and fifteen minutes . . . all on some of the most beautiful (and often empty) roads in the world. Note that your cell phone will probably not work, there is no television, but you do have hi-speed wifi access from a network in the house. (If you require a land-line telephone at any point, there is a payphone at Waipi'o Lookout a short distance away.)
Within the accommodation, there is a king-size daybed / futon in the main front room where most people sleep so that they can hear the ocean, and then an additional queen-size bed in the separate rear bedroom (no view). A sedate, tropical decor of modern mixed with classic Hawaii, plus excellent water pressure and very hot water means a very relaxing experience for you in all ways. The unit has an efficiency kitchen with microwave, small refrigerator, hot plate, coffee maker and an abundance of cooking utensils.
